Ok i was literally about to type, "hang on, this is just kamigawa" and then your punchline hit!
I mean, you're not wrong.
Then again, the first time I saw your War of the Spark video, my first thought was, "wait a second, there's an actual story?". So this kind of thing from WOTC isn't exactly a surprise.
Would be interesting to see what storyline would WotC recycle next currently Duskmourn is starting to sound like mirrodin just change the plane chainging/ corrupting oil with a demon, change rescuing Karn to rescuing Nashi change the lineup of the Planeswalkers that would be the rescue party heck I wouldn't be surprised if the demon in the story is some kind of phyrexian demon.
Kamigawa had monks. Monks are cool.
If I'm not mistaken Bloomburrow have those rat lorekeepers who are technically monks but yeah monks are cool
