  • In this video, Heartland Institute Research Fellow Linnea Lueken looks at whether or not bees are threatened by climate change. Studies reveal that any issues they may have regionally are most likely unrelated to climate change.

      @@grumpyoldveteran7286 Serious answer: because we specialize. We do different jobs and have become accustomed to a highly integrated, highly specialized workforce. We don't have many "generalists" anymore who could just pick up sticks, move out to a log cabin in the woods and thrive. We don't know how anymore. We rely on industrial farmers for food, ranchers for meat, a series of water professionals for clean water and sewage, civil engineers to build all of the water management structures for rivers and lakes we drink from... you get the idea. More people allows us to develop more highly specialized jobs which provides more prosperity for society collectively. Halve the population, and you'll see modern society literally collapse on itself, even the "essential" services like food, water, healthcare, public safety.

      I don't know what's going on here in New Zealand. I used to have 1000's of bees on my property, mainly because we have a lot of clover in our grass. But in the last couple of years, most of the clover has died and the bees are almost non-existent. We have plenty of bumble bees though. Our clover is starting to recover, so hopefully the bees will return. We are right next to a very large horticultural area which grows mainly potatoes, onions, brocolli and cauliflower. I presume there must still be plenty of bees around here somewhere.

  • @michaelwillis5040
    @michaelwillis5040 4 місяці тому

    We've seen both bees and hornets, supersized versions, here in the US that were formerly native only to China. There has been the expected finger pointing by warmists at the unproven hypothesis of human-caused global warming climate change but there is a far more plausible reason. I think it is likely the shift in the Earth's magnetic field that has sown chaos in the insect and animal navigation senses and caused many species, not just bees, to migrate to different regions. Some forty years ago the north magnetic pole was located in northern Canada. Then it began to move north, past the north geographic pole and is still moving toward Siberia. No one knows precisely why this occurred but my hypothesis is that part of the inner mantle detached which caused the molten flows in the outer core to be altered.

      However, this is not as annoying as what seems to have become a trend, that of videos doing what I call "jumping", where there are constant cuts while the person is talking, sometimes just a few seconds apart (sometimes more than once in the one sentence!). As a beekeeper I can attest to the fact bees are not declining here in 🇨🇦. This spring alone I have had 3 swarms. Recaptured those swarms and now have double the amount of bees I came out of winter with. Varroa destructor( mites) is the leading cause of apis millifera ( common bee ) in North America. Along with Nosema. If the weather is hot and not raining… there are double the “fly days” or triple which increases reproduction and nectar collection. L so bring on the heat. If they want to call it Global warming then explain why it’s 3 degrees above freezing here in May where I live in the night.
