    I don't like the 181s either. The RCF 705s are nice and lightweight. I haven't listened to the 905s yet. the 708s are nice too but heavier.

      Why did you drop them by -10db, i ask because i bought a pair only to find 905s clipped pretty quickly, i used a pair of ART 312MK4s on top (1 sub 1 top)

    • @trinityprosound
      @trinityprosound  6 років тому +4

      you never want to run the input gain fully open on a speaker as it will limit very quickly as it over drivers the input gain section on the amplifier, that is not a volume control but an input sensitivity control ,we will run most 4 to 10 db down depending on model to get the best results. set your ART boxes at 12 o'clock position or 2 o'clock and work with the subs so that they both limit at the same time for volume and use a crossover point of around 100-120hz to send up to the 312's, we never run full open with the input sensitivity all the way up. yes, it will clip early

    • @capaldi38
      @capaldi38 6 років тому +2

      thanks for the reply, i have been playing around with your tip today and yes the sheer output of the bass now appears to be more matched to the 312, i make some further tests this weekend

      I would use H3 or H4 and come out of the sub to the HD32 from the xover output- but you have to push in the xover button for output rather than link

  • @djkrixa

    Would one of these (to start with) be a good match with a pair of art 712-a mk2 speakers? Which crossover settings would be preferred? As I understand these subwoofers are louder when using the H presets instead of the L ones. Cheers and thanks for good videos.

    • @trinityprosound

      The 905 is a great 15" sub. and yes will work with the ART series no issues. Depending on what you are using it for and music etc. since it is a 15" don't anticipate you are going to be getting the same response as an 18" with larger volume cabinet, but for the size the 905 does a great job. Its sweet spot for output is going to be 60-100hz, going below 60 and expecting same output won't happen. Going to be a quite a reduction in output volume.

      H2 40 Hz - 80 Hz
      H3 40 Hz - 100 Hz
      anything in the 30hz area is going to overdrive them and they really are not meant to be pushed down to 30hz

    Hi there, I was checking 708 and 905, and find out that they both have 133dB output, and 708 is 700w amp, and 905 is 1100w amp. I expected they will have almost same output, and ofc, more low end in 708 (coz 18"), but, in live, I can bearly hear 905 against 708.
    Did I expect to much from 905, or there is some "catch" with input gain? (I use xair18, and set up is 80Hz xover on 708, and L2 presset on 905 + didn't notice much difference with H2 presset)

    • @trinityprosound
      @trinityprosound  5 років тому +3

      the 708 being an 18" is going to give you more low end due to larger cabinet and speaker surface... the 905 being a 15" does a great job for a 15" sub, we installed 2 in a church gym and was impressed with the 15's but they are not 18s. best 15's we have ever heard is the RcF TTS26's dual 15" subs, but they are $5000 each... the 905 being a compact sub, in reviewing the specs vs. the 708 shows it goes lower, but it is the volume of the box and the surface of the 18" vs. 15" that you are hearing the difference, or lack thereof from the higher powered 905. in the case of subwoofers, size does matter.

    • @trinityprosound
      @trinityprosound  5 років тому +1

      if you can do the size of the 8004 is my choice, if the size and transportabily is the issue get another 905 and put them side by side to couple on the floor if that is possible.

    • @trinityprosound
      @trinityprosound  4 роки тому

      I would do the 708 18" vs. the 15, even though the 905 has more power the 15" driver does a great job, but as with most 15" subs unless you get one that is $$$$ and 18 IMO does a better job and has lower freq. response and "moves more air" IMO that a 15. We installed a pair of them in a small gym under the stage and they did a great job, but 18's always win and the 708 will kill a comparable (using that term loosely) QSC

    I just got one of these and 2 of the 712 mk4 tops, man these things rock for 15" subs, really impressive, do you have any suggestions for the best settings for this combo, at the moment I have them on H3 with -10db and 0 delay, the limiter light does flash early, but I was told that's not a problem, just an indication they are at 0db, hopefully that's true.
    Now to save up for a second sub ;-)

    • @trinityprosound

      @@trinityprosound The limiter light flashing is nothing to worry about to much I hope ? I hear great things about the limiter protection in RCF box's and that there almost impossible to blow up, what's your views on this?

    • @trinityprosound
      @trinityprosound  4 роки тому +2

      it can flash, just not on steady, they do have great protection, but if you are driving it that hard that the limiter is coming on you need more subs, you don't have enough rig for your gig.

    Amazing review like always. We have used this sub in the last few months quite a bit and it's amazing paired with the sub8003as II. Two of these subs on on H2 and the sub8003as II on L2 is just amazing. I'm just curious about the new TTS15-A. It's the same 1100w amplifier, 15inch driver and about the same size, and 1 db higher. But the price is also much higher...So i'm wondering..is it worth the upgrade? Do you have an opinion on the TTS15-A?

    • @DobixIdealSound
      @DobixIdealSound 6 років тому +1

      It's the first sub from the TT line with a 3inch voice coil..Even the older tts12a had a 4inch voice coil..That's why I'm worried

    • @trinityprosound
      @trinityprosound  6 років тому +1

      It may have the driver from the TTS26A subs and not the same as this being a stamped basket and ceramic magnet. The footprint fo the amp looks similar, but would have to confirm with RCF on the amp, that would be a shame to use the same amp on both speakers, the TT being a premium line. We have the TTS26A subs and for a dual 15" they are killer. I have not heard on the TTS15 and most likely being so new we won't see here in the USA for a bit .. RCF has been doing some amazing thinks with small VC as with the new 9007 subs being 21" with small VC for faster reaction time of the driver. For a 15" I have no issues with a 3" VC vs. 4" .... as long as the driver does the claimed power rating and won't destroy itself under operation/load.

    Hello, I have 2 questions for you! I own a PRX 818 xlfw subwoofer, but I'm thinking of changing my system to RCF! Would it be better to replace it with RCF 905 AS II and would it be better to use pair art 735mk4 with one subwoofer 905 AS II?

    • @trinityprosound
      @trinityprosound  4 роки тому +1

      I would keep the subs you have and couple up with the 735's , the 905 is a good 15, but won't quite do what an 18" sub will do. The 818 sub is more like the RCF 708 sub in features and power. So you should have no issues. Use the high pass on the subs "80Hz 24dB/Octave high-pass filter is applied to the signal coming out of the THRU connector" and you will have a great sounding system.

      Similar, but the RCF units have a bit better box construction in the materials. The db's are hybrid type with the H where the RCF are bass reflex design while the db is bass reflex and semi horn loaded , db's have a bit more power behind them in the amp on the 18" model.

I was thinking of selling 2 of the tops and buying 2 K12.2's for those smaller events, but also be able to use them along side my rig for larger setups.
    Hows does RCF compare to the SRX series?
    Should I get the k12.2's or what would be an alternative?

      if you do one on each side with the IG2T tops, that will do a very good job, it is that the 15's won't go as LOW as the 18's but the 905 for a 15" sub does a good job for the size of that speaker. using the built in crossover of the subwoofer you can run the IG2T harder and let the sub do what it needs to.

      It drives a bit harder due to additional power, but you would be better off adding more 705s to your rig/system, yes 8004 would be the best option, but if you are looking to replace a 705 with a 905, not sure you are going to notice "that much" difference

      i really don't think you are going to "hear" a difference in them IMO, they both do good for a 15" sub , all those subs are within a few pounds of each other...there is not 20lbs difference between the 15H, 705 and 905 69, 63, 66 respectively - we have the 15H in rental inventory and they do a great job for a 15, but i would use 705 or 905's if we had them...

      The 905 is a good 15" sub and has a lot of power behind it...it does do a good job, but i like the 18" 8003 or 8004 better for good low end. But if weight is an issue the 905's will do a decent job. We installed 2 in a school multi use room under the stage and was quite impressed with the output of them. They are a solid 15" subwoofer. Depending on what you are using them for , live vs. DJ ? they should provide you with sufficient low end to do what the 745's can not do. Use the built in cross over of the 905 and set at 90hz to the top 745's and it will give you a great transition from sub to top box.

      We have not seen a 708mk2 come through yet, however based on the amp and specs of similar RCF subs we have seen , the 708 will kill a KW181 and for the price point and features the 700w sub will be hard to beat from other "similar" competitors. We have found that QSC, JBL, EV and other fudge the power number to their favor to look good on paper, but poor on lasting performance. RCF has always IMO given the most bang for the buck.

    • @trinityprosound
      @trinityprosound  6 років тому +1

      yes, with the power of 700 watts RMS, but still has more power than a QSC KW181. The 708 as with the sub series is going to be similar construction and most likely at stamped frame basket like this one and maybe similar driver. Nice thing about SUB series is built in crossovers, you don't get that with QSC or others...with a pair of 708s the sound would be better than anything QSC or JBL or EV offers in that price range

    • @0800338833
      @0800338833 6 років тому

      Great point from 'The Boogie Knight'! Yes, I think it is very poor that RCF is fitting stamped baskets into some of their subs and some of their tops these days! In my opinion, the MK1 version was fantastic. It used a cast basket that was very durable indeed. I thought the idea of a MK2 product was to improve upon the previous design, however, in this instance, it seems they've gone backwards in quality, at least where the driver is concerned. I'm not sure about anyone else, but I'd rather pay a little bit more for better quality parts, rather than a company cheapening down at every revision. Come on RCF, don't wreck your brilliant reputation! Use only cast baskets, keep the weight down with NEO magnets and keep manufacturing in Italy, please!

    • @theboogieknight8279
      @theboogieknight8279 6 років тому

      Couldn't agree more. I would have bought a pair of these if they had proper cast, neo drivers. You can get subs far cheaper than this that are using quality drivers and it just seems RCF are relying on their name. Over here, the sub is around £1200 putting it in the premium small sub category yet without premium drivers. Just very poor.

    1 x JBLSRX828SB
    2 x EV ETX 15sp
    Can you give me a recommendation on which you would prefer and why? I really like the tight bass from 15" drivers. So i was thinking about going either with the 905's or 15sp's, but they only have a 3" voice coil compared to the 8003,8004 and 828 4" voice coil, so im sure its a good idea.

We have used others including SUB15H from db tech and this one is WAY stronger, not sure how this 15 can be underpowered at 1100WRMS, most other 15" subs in this type of config are way less power, like 700-900WRMS if you are lucky. it is a bit more $$$ since it has great DSP and power vs. competition. physics pretty much dictate what you can get from a 15" dirver and the size and power of this box...we were impressed and will be using more of these on installs for sure as the small form factor fits nicely under stages...and yes is does sound amazing.

      I just think maybe the 1100 watt figures might be little "ambitious" considering the early soft limit stage, RCF claim there is another 6db available after the soft limiter flashes, where would this extra 6db (which is quite an amount) come from ???.

      it is the amp power, how it is configured in limiting or soft limiting does not effect rated or stated power, only how that transfers to the speaker/voice coil of the driver. it would be false advertising to be anything different that what is stated for the amplifier power output...would you not agree?

      The RCF rep told me via email that after the soft limiter starts to flash there is still another 6 db left in reserve, now unless i missing something, if the signal is clean and the soft limiter starts to flash i just cant see where this magical extra 6 db is conjured from, if the soft limiter starts to flash and at that stage the level is increased or a piece of music is played with very low frequency then surely the soft limiter would only increase to protect the amp/driver....thus reducing power ?

    do me a favor. could you make a review of RCF 9004 SUB AS?

      it may be a while as we have not had one pass through our facility as of yet and have not rec'd a lot of requests for that single 18...but it will kill any other sub in the same class...the 8004 sub could put out more and sound better than 2 QSC KW181 subs...
