Thank you for confirming the issues that I encountered with the APP. I hope they will fix theses problems in the future update. These are the only reasons I wont buy the RCF JMIX8 + RCF Evox J8.
Hello! in the experience of having experienced both sound equipment (evox 8 and evoxJ8) which one considers of better quality? What are the differences or improvements? Do they use the same components? Finally, do you think it is more appropriate to use an evox 8 vs an art 315 device, for example for a live band? From already thank you very much! great pleasure is to follow your channel and be informed about the news continuously
The J8 is a EVOX 8 in a injection box. The J8 has a bit better low end IMO, but the EVOX 8 being wood does not resonate like the J8. We have done 200 peeps with a pair of EVOX8's for a live band with really good results. We ran Roland V drums , a bass on a sansamp, keys, 4 vocals and 2 gtr. thru them ... thanks for watching the videos !
I have finally been able to audition the Evox 8 and the EVOLVE 50 here in Australia. I like the sound of the Evox 8 much more, it seems a more faithful and clearer reproduction across the frequency spectrum. However it is another 40% more expensive than the EVOLVE 50 in Australia. I can source a J8 for for only USD200 more than the EVOLVE 50. From what you have said so far I am guessing you would recommend paying the bit extra and get the J8? I won't be able to audition it. The EVOLVE 50 is cheaper, easier to set up, has some DSP, more inputs including 1/8" iPhone jack which is handy as backup, a little lighter for my wife given the column and array are carried in a separate bag. But I suspect the J8 will sound better. What is your take on the sound of J8 vs EVOLVE 50? Thanks in advance for your help :)
Greg, the J8 IMO sounds better than the EVOLVE 50, we played them all side by side and the EVOX8 and J8 and the ES503 sounded better IMO and I don't like the long column of the EVOLE 50 for transport. The J8 is a EVOX 8 in a injection box vs. wood box. Some like the 50, but after listening to it multiple times vs. the others i like the sound of the RCF better.
Me personally i liked the sound of the J8 better, the EVOLVE just ran out of steam and I did not like the way it transported. Not sure how long the socket connector will last making contact on the bottom before the clamping of the pins gives out. The EVOLVE is less here in the US but not quite that big of a difference vs. the J8..
Like your reviews! .......I am in the need for a small but compact PA system! I already have a lucas nano 300 which I love and use at home too but, with an electric guitar and bass plus a sax going through it is not quite enough! Would you suggest going with an lucas nano 608i or 605 or something different?
Thanks for testing the APP. As you know the Gain (Input signal), EQ, Effects, etc are set during sound check once and then we will likely need to adjust the Volume (Output signal) of each channel while live performances. It's a shame that the APP does not do this important and basic task of a traditional mixer, controlling the individual volume channel. Did you try the Save/Load option in SYS tab?
Yes, but does not save the levels only the parameters you can adjust in the app, so you would have to remember the level settings for it to be effective.
Thanks for your demo. I wanted to buy this EVOX JMIX8 and use the App to control its Mixer from distance but it is not possible to control individually the Volume for each channel from the App. Other question; is there any physical Volume Knob on the Mixer itself? In the RCF website when we look at the image of the mixer of JMIX8 and we see only the Gain Knobs, we don't see the Volume Knobs for individual channel. Could you explain please? Thank you
There are but they are accessible through the individual knobs on the mixer and DSP on the mixer, there is an overall gain knob on the back of the amp unit, but all channel adjustments are done with the encoders / volume knobs on the mixer unit. The app controls all the mixer parameters as well. Yes it does control each channel input and parameters.
When you will download the App you will see that there is a Save/Load option in SYS tab and I think if this feature is included in the App, it is supposed to Save/Load Preset. If not what would be the point to have this feature in the App and not be able to use it. You mentioned that " The app will most likely only control and not save any setup of functions, EQ, etc, " I say that in the App we cannot control any setup of function like control individually the Volume Level (Not Gain) of each channel. This is important to me because I am a live musician performer with my band and I need to control the RCF Mixer from my iPhone where I am standing without stopping playing my instrument and move away for adjustment on the unit itself during live performance. I hope that makes sense. Regards
Hey guys! I agree with about the Turbosound IP2000. Have you heard the new Turbosound IP3000? It has larger improved 3.5" drivers and two HF compression drivers like the LD Maui 44 and an improved 2000w amplifier section. From what I've heard it's a big improvement!.
If there was a Turbo Sound system that I would be OK with the 3000 would be it, but I still have issues with the HF section being on the top of the system, which is noticeable up close , as to where all the HF is coming from, but the low end is amazing from it and once back 50 feet or so, it does smooth out and sounds pretty decent.
Yeah that's a good point about having the HF drivers up so high. I think the bottom one is splayed vertically slightly but alas I haven't seen under the grille. Cheers for the reply!
What’s your thoughts version the older model I think it’s just different mixer modular same amp same speakers different cabinet might make a different sound
same drivers and amp, only noticeable difference is low end and than may be attributed to the PP box and resonance that the wood box of the EVOX 8 does not exhibit. a killer system for a great price point.
It is a different sound of the system IMO. Seems to have a bit more low end to it, but that may be due to the injection molded box resonating a wee. The EVOX 8 did not do that, so the perception would be a wee bit more low end.
Hello sir! I have a room 700 square feet and 10 feet high. Can I play 2 EVOX J8 for karaoke, meetings, small band (1 drum, 1 guitar solo & 1 guitar bass)...? The room is about 50 guest. Thank you very much!
Thanks for your review of this and the EVOX 8. My wife is a dance therapy DJ playing to rooms of 20-50. She plays a whole range of music off a DJ controller including vocal, classical and EDM that needs plenty of bass. Portability and quality of sound (including great bass for dancing) are her two key priorities. To this end I am considering getting her either 2 x EV DXA1 with matching 2 x DXA1 subs, or their newer ELX200-10P x2 with ELX200-12SP subs, or a pair of EVOX 8 or EVOX J8. Do you have any comments on how these systems compare and which you would recommend? Unfortunately I can't road test them where I live, I'll need to buy them online.
for portability and quality of sound of what you are looking to accomplish a pair of J8 will be killer, they will go low enough and loud enough for that side of crowd with no issues. if you don't need the rugged construction of the wood of the EVOX8 , the J8 will amaze you.

The app will most likely only control and not save any setup of functions, EQ, etc, that would be in the unit when powered off, but you should be able to save a setup at the unit itself. we don't use the app that much and would have to down load and play with the app to see what you are referring to...
No they do not , would have to be a huge battery and that would drive up cost and weight. db Tech makes a battery powered speaker ,but the battery can go fast if you are driving the speaker hard...they are great(battery speakers) for talking heads where power is not available.
IG3T is not much different than the IG4T same amp, just 10" speakers vs. the 6.5" speakers...a little lower freq. response, but essentially same set up
IF RCF WOULD HAVE INTEGRATED OR ALLOWED A 1 U RACK SYSTEM UNDERNEATH THAT MIXER FOR A WIRELESS MICROPHONE SYSTEM , THEN THESE WOULD TAKE OVER THE PLANET !
The app does not control channel volume but once set you do have some gain with the preamp control, since it is a manual mixer with knobs i can see why they did not give control as that would have driven the cost of the unit too high as would have been a full digital mixer. Possibly play with the preamp gain and see what happens, without over driving the channel...looks like you can adjust most everything else on the channel but the initial level/knob volume

Damn, he took it apart! Killer review
I can't find your EV Evolve 50 review.. or the comparison videos.. keep up the great work.. love your content
We did not do one for the EVOLVE 50, was not worth our time, EVOX is so much better

I would look at the EVOX 8 or J8 boxes, we have run a full band through a pair of EVOX 8's. J8 is same just injection box vs. wood.

Not sure, as we don't have much info on LD systems....

How does it do stereo? Is the through, not a through, but a right output to another J8?
takes two, one left and one right, feed out is mono to another speaker and will feed thru both channels of stereo if sent. combined.

Yes from the aux out or the XLR out of the amplifer
@@trinityprosound and the volume control for xlr our on the amp is on the evox app or is there a physical volume knob on built in mixing desk

hey is boost mode is more punch sound like rcf 8006 sub-as in punch mode?
Yes somewhat , used for lower playback levels where you are not driving the speaker as hard to get added low end
Boost mode is like a loudness button - it boosts low and high frequencies to add body to low volume background music
