Great video, highlighting a problem I have been shielded from for many years because of my size.
Coming up with an idea, then building that idea are the two most challenging parts of creating redstone content. These people (there's plenty more as well) bypass both these painstaking parts of the process. It's almost impossible to compete with UA-cam channels that do this, as they can put out 5-6 seemingly original pieces of content per week that their unknowing fans eat up.
As I say, I am privileged that I don't face this problem often, with only the boldest stealing my work, but my heart always goes out to the small/mid size UA-camrs who are getting their content taken left and right.
I may end up making a video on this topic myself.
Hi mumbo
Couldn't have put it into better words myself, thanks for the support on this Mumbo c:
Beautifully put Mumbo🙏

Huh
Fully support this. It's painstaking seeing creators getting away with it.
5 minutes ago! Hello metricate
and theres a lot more of them who are still unnoticed
Hi mitricate
Your painstaking
@@appledanimations1913 hello apple
I absolutely adore the fact that the actual redstone engineers are so supportive and wholesome with each other! Seeing Mumbo complimenting Purple’s work, actively encouraging his audience to check out his channel and even going as far as to say he might not have been able to do it himself just warmed my heart and made me feel like I was floating on a cloud :), it’s no surprise that they all unite when these asshole thieves come in!
As a person who barely knows how Redstone works, it feels demoralising knowing that the tutorial of a contraption that has helped me was actually stolen from someone else. And with the massive amount of channels and videos, it is difficult to see who posted what first, and who deserves the real credit. Thank you for exposing some of these people, hopefully you and the rest of content creators will receive their proper credit in the future.
same ive used many shulker craft tutorials unknowingly, i will definetly make sure to use other peoples instead
Loved to see this! Having my designs stolen and used in literally hundreds of videos with varying degree of credit, from absolutely non to a mention in the description, or my personal favourite: "Based on a design by ..." while not even 1 block is changed, I certainly feel your pain. Unfortunately not many will see this - but it's still important!
yea, ppl r using other ppls work to make money, and bc u can’t copyright mc builds, anyone can use it without needing to give credit and there’s nothing you can do legally (like copyright claiming).
@@Jwang0509 You can if its a video... if somebody decides to steal your video on your redstone build and your video is copyrighted then you can copyright claim them BUT! BUT if there is like different edits or etc then you cant

Doesn't skulker craft always give you credit?
Its sad how your designs have been stolen and these ppl have more subs than you.I hope you get more subs than the redstone thieves
This is one of my biggest fears as a small redstoner. I don’t want my stuff being re uploaded or remade by other people on UA-cam, Reddit, etc. Thank you for bringing some new awareness to this
Yeah, me too.
Then put a copyright or a trademark on it. So it can’t be used by anyone else

And even if you could, that would be a bad idea.
@@deactivatedHonda well apparently you probably can, only way to prevent anyone else from doing it

Its so good seeing someone FINALLY taking a stand against these "Redstone Thieves" I my self wanted to start uploading my own original Redstone builds but I was scared they would get stolen and I would have no credit for it but i think for now i will upload a different Type of MC video
Damb I feel really bad because I'm new to the community and I watched some of these thinking they made it. Thanks for shining light on this

Thank you I didn't know steveee was stealing I unsubbed from them
congrats, you did the right thing!
I remember how I used to get inspired by amazing creators like you and Mumbo to make countless redstone doors that spring up in my mind. I spent about 7 hours as a kid making an exit and entry floor piston door, and about 10 hours as a teenager making a circular floor vault door. Both of them were extremely fun to make, but that barely scratches the surface of the countless hours redstone engineers put into their builds. I feel betrayed that such high sub content creators can just feel entitled to pluck whatever they want from a small youtube channel and get away with it. Good on you Purpledragonnuke!

Good video, I applaud your effort to shine light on this topic. I don't recall being very bothered by it myself during the prime years of my own channel, but the examples you gave here were informative and it is very sad to see would-be creators piggy backing off the hard work of other, typically much smaller channels.
I'm grateful for this video! I've always appreciated your influence and involvement in the redstone community, and wanted to say thanks for being such a huge inspiration for me and many others!
Now more related to the video: 6:58, this one is actually 0.3 seconds opening xd
Also god bless for calling out Gamers React lmao, you're doing the gods work here!
This is very helpful thanks because I'm pretty new to minecraft and I was wondering about this while looking for content. Of course I found mambo was the God but there were plenty of other channels featuring cool stuff. I will def watch out more for copycats and thieves while looking for inspiration!
did not even kno this was happening, great vid!!u should narrate audiobooks imo
The fact that he has been making redstone stuff on UA-cam for YEARS and only has 13.6K subscribers, even getting STOLEN from bigger UA-camrs. I hope you get the support you deserve!
Yeah
ilmango has mentioned people like Shulkercraft stealing designs and such. It’s one of the reasons we don’t get tutorials on some of those really complex builds.
Ohhhhhh
that's true. After seeing my creations stolen by shulker craft and him making tutorials on contraptions I already made a tutorial for directly stealing my views I completely lost motivation to make tutorials on my creations anymore. I'm also really hesitant to give out world downloads at this point.
People like shulker craft and their greed really poison this community. I can't compete with channels that have no qualms stealing others work and using aggresive click bait.
@@ilmango speak your mind man, it's understandable thou, I'm gonna start putting my water mark on videos more, even I'm a very very small channel and I am get back into Minecraft bedrock to record
But it's understandable, some of us see these videos don't know it's from another youtuber
@@ilmango pretty much most of the thefts of certain builds causes one person to loose motivation, sadly this was the fate of the well known and the literal mumbo of bedrock known as the bow tie man who has lost motivation, stealing being one of them as someone bigger (derpy jhomes) came by and as I could say, milked his channel.
Not only that but plenty of people did the exact same thing being the reason yes, greed. Basically stealing all those passion and hard work, especially for the small to mid channels as they are the easiest prey, most likely a virus that causes the extinction of real redstoners
I especially feel bad for redstoners that have made an unimaginable and revolutionary redstone just to be stolen for popularity. I hope that people could spread this awareness to reduce the mass theft of minecraft creations.
@@ilmango I’ve been subscribed to you for a while. I totally respect what you do and take inspiration from you. Seeing accounts that take from all the work you do is what makes me so vocal. Minecraft is literally a whole different game because of people like yourself. Nothing you do deserves to be discredited through such actions like plagiarism.
Please consider making tutorials for Patreon subscribers. I would pay if that’s what it takes to see some of your designs and especially see more of your thought-process while creating these machines.
To be fair to Shulkercraft, Lauri did seem genuinely apologetic for the mistake and wanted to learn from the experience to do better moving forward. Also from context given in this video, it seems like it was an honest mistake to not credit you, rather than malicious stealing
And also he try’s to make it easy to make in survival, giving lists of mats and other stuff helpful for survival players he just forgot to give credit
Yeah Shulkercraft always try and credit the creators in their videos
The Shulkercraft apologists like yourself are hilarious. "Yeah they're still stealing other people's work, but they seem really sorry! Also they're giving credit!" It doesn't matter. If the original design creator say "Don't steal my work and re-upload your own tutorial" then don't do it. There have also been instances where Shulkercraft has took someone else's build, uploaded their own "tutorial" for it, and ended up actually nerfing the build they stole because they didn't understand every aspect of the build.
@@RossLemontouch grass
@@RossLemon Shulkercraft always ask for permission with these things
The only issue is that a couple of times they asked the wrong person and or miscredited someone which are both honest mistakes
I do redstone all the time, one was this one utilising village farmers to break crops and chuck it into a hopper. After some research i saw it had been done before, but when people either, A) wrongly accuse you of stealing, or B) use things without credit, it makes me wanna chuck em in a mob grinder. Great video that adresses a peoblem wider than just redstone. Keep it up!
Great video. and a good job bringing a concerningly common problem to light. I've seen so many creators that I watch have something stolen from them. Its something that really wrong, and really needs to stop.
thanks for making this. As door makers it's very common for our own community to ignore this because "they just want attention" and "there's nothing we can do about it", and trying to retaliate is just regarded as brigading
this is why i personally decided to not provide wd's/tutorials for doors i build anymore, it's really frustrating when people can pass off your weeks of work as their own. So It's cool to see, despite this, you still provide wd's and tutorials
yep
Love the editing!

Can we at least not make fun of them? Sure, they are very wrong, and I am also against that particular UA-camr, but comments like your's could alienate them.
@@Inspirator_AG112 They're probably around 9 years old.
Something pretty funny actually happened to me on one of Steveee's videos a very long time ago.
I remember it was something like "how to draw in Minecraft" or something, using the power of the good ol' Command Blocks.
It was a very very simple design, but Steveee pretty much "brute-forced" through the whole thing without any explanations on the purpose and functions of each Command (I can see how suspicious this can be now that I think about it).
Seeing this, I was worried that potential beginners might not be able to understand what exactly is happening in this design and forced to copy and paste the whole thing without learning anything.
I believe that it would be more beneficial and fun for these beginners to actually understand the design.
Therefore, I left a comment providing a full explanation of how everything works in this design and what purpose does each Command serves just so people can enjoy what's shown in the video themselves as well and possibly create their own designs using what they have learned from this.
Well guess what. My comment was deleted not long after it was written.
Like, I am not even trying to call him out because I am someone who you would call "lives under a rock" and I have no idea if he stole this design from elsewhere or not.
At that time I was just confused. Confused about why he would delete such a comment that can benefit the viewers more, making this video of his more valuable than before.
This confusion of course led to my suspicion that something fishy might be going on here. But I decided to just let it go since I got nothing against him. I forgot all about it not long after.
Now? It's all coming together now.
It was indeed a stolen design, and he was afraid of being called out by someone who actually understands the design (even though I have no idea that he stole this design from elsewhere lol).
UA-cam has a habit of deleting comments when it shouldn’t, and not deleting comments when it should
I enjoyed reading through that, thank you very much
Wtf is this shit
@@justanub4697 are u being sarcastic?
dang dude that sucks
my full condolenses go out to you
Great video! And to think this only scratches the surface of a much larger problem on UA-cam... There's also not much creators can do about it at the moment, as "copyrighting" redstone contraptions isn't really a thing, and in a lot of the videos redstone UA-camrs post it's either explained how to build, or there's a world download made available.
Oh, and quick edit: I've probably had my fair share of stuff stolen, but never on as large a scale as is the norm now. Seeing creators like Shulkercraft and Steveee racking up _millions_ of views and subscribers off the backs of hard-working creators breaks my heart.
When do u plan on uploading again fenno
hey fenno you still exist!
You can’t copyright something you made in a game because the game isn’t yours, and everything you’ve made in the game isn’t yours. Because of this you have no legal right and so youtube won’t give a shit. The only one who can copyright anything is Mojang as it is their game, and anything made in the game is there’s.
Yo your audio is so good, and yea many creators are like that and it will be hard to stop it
This is why I mostly choose to follow tutorials from UA-camrs that do not live on short form content and are UA-camrs I trust and I've watched for a while. I very rarely follow tutorials from UA-camrs I have never heard of, unless it's the only video that has what I'm looking for.
I was aware of some of the redstone design thefts but never knew it went this deep.
As someone trying redstone as a novice it is a fun concept to make something you design or taking inspiration work for a build - something I do hope to share here one day, so it's good to be aware to be vigilant when crediting creators.
It never takes long to credit people or at least if you don't know who just mentioned the original creator of the design is better than nothing.
Thank you Purpledragonnuke for making us aware of the ongoing problem and helping creators be aware to be vigilant on the ongoing issue.
So glad you pointed this out. I hope those that do this get the karma they deserve. I know there is one that I will b unsubbing to. Glad I found u guys on Twitter. You and the guys you do redstone with are truly amazing!
Love how are you just roasting everyone keep it up
The shulkercraft one wasn't that bad, they gave credit to one of the creators, and it seemed like an honest mistake that they didn't realize 2 people made it. They also ended up giving credit after they were told. Don't think that they should be called "THIEVES" for that.
so true
but still no apology and what about the other stuff he did not even go over
@@LMoore-mf3yl dude i dont think they need an apology considering everyone will private their apology video
also seems like nowadays he credits people properly, at least in his last 2 farms which i looked at.
it seems like he just hasn't thought about giving credit before, and he learned, so i think it is fine.
Thats the problem with “its ok if u give credit” because i can copy someone else work and just say “its from _____” and i just made content from another person.
I love this! If more UA-cam redstoners call out thieves, maybe they'd be properly shamed for doing it. but idk, as like 1 min of fame still equates to views and channel promoting algorithms. YT needs to have a better theft of content protection like they do for music.
Honestly this was my biggest fear back when I used to redstone frequently on like TMA and Storage Tech.
I told myself to learn to make UA-cam videos back in late 2020 but that aged too well.
Great video!
btw your voice reminds me of Kurzgesagt: In a Nutshell
I do completely original game pixel art, sometimes with reference that I give credit to. But some guy came in, stole my art and claimed it his own, copy pasting my art in order to bypass the credit system. I was damn annoyed and added a copyright to my sprite sheets.
I'm here for this series. I detest this content stealing culture that goes on, glad you're calling them out on it!
Really interesting video Purple! Mumbo is a good dude, always credits. Hope this video get's the exposure it deserves. Also it's pretty ironic how Shulkercraft has stolen content that Steveee went an stole lol
0:26 this is a problem that I can really agree with. Ofc my art is so bad that no one wants to steal it, but my friend is an artist and really knows this feeling.
Good video. You make a good point about the "Redstone Thiefs".
I remember awhile back ilmango mentioned how upset he was after spending hours on builds/videos, that someone else would come along and just copy it without credit and get even more views. It really bothered me. It's literally plagiarism. And with youtube taking away the dislikes, I feel like we're further from preventing it.
Redstone and building are not given much appreciation and that just not fair. A redstoner and builder, both should have their place in Minecraft community. The amount of time they put to put to figure out stuffs is underrated, i want people to appreciate these things as much as speed running and surviving. Just my opinion though
i feel like speedruns, pvp, minigames, and survival are more popular because that's the more action-packed playstyles a minecraft player can fit into, unlike redstone, building, scripting, etc which are less action-packed and thus less people watch them
I agree, a lot of player doesn't really appreciate the redstoners and builders
I know a lot of people find building and doing redstone is really boring, but give some appreciation to those who spend so much effort on those
@@Melecie exactly
Ive stuck with plenty of youtubers in the past, and none of them were as great as you, keep it up!
0:43 Sheesh those music tracks looking fire.
I feel kind of vindicated that when I take a redstone creation and replicate it in one of my worlds, there's always a sign near the most accessible redstone components (or outright in front of the demo build in my SMP lag tester world) that actually says whose tutorial I followed, if I modified it (I note down what I had to tweak, usually it's adding delays or space restrictions), and if hybridized I have both designs' creators on the sign(s) (and any official name the systems' creators gave them).
That way at worst, all I have to do to remember where it's from is to open my old test world or go into the "repair hatch" and find the note I left myself, because I don't always remember who first posted a design. (and sometimes I have a "made b X and popularized by Y" sign, when someone credited another's design and made a tutorial on it from schematics I can't understand)
Been waiting for a video like this for a long time, great job on the video and hope to see more people showing the truth behind these channels.

That was a simple mistake, and very nitpicky on this channels part. Normally they always credit the creators, and this one since there was multiple, one who was barely mentioned from the channel they got it from, it was very easy for it to slip through. I actually want to defend Shulkercraft in this scenario. They make super clear and simple no bs tutorials without all the bloat. Yes he did have the problem of not giving credit before, but nowadays he gives credit in the beginning of the video. This helps us check the initial video if we want a more in depth explaination
Back then, he just credits very poorly. There was even a case in which he made a tutorial of someone's build without permission. He only started taking crediting seriously once builders like ilmango called him out.

Dude! I love your voice! It's so calm and I can easily listen to! You're right, your voice does sound like kurzgesagt!
Just so you know, Megamanny is steveees other account. He uploads basically the same thing on both channels. He does this because both channels get millions of views so hey, why not multiply?
I hate this situation so much, and I really hope a solution will emerge soon.
I hate the fact that more and more redstoners stop sharing their builds because of the fear to be stolen.
It definitely has a huge impact on the stolen people. Take Ilmango, who makes a living out of his UA-cam channel, and who chose to drastically reduce his audience by reducing the amount of content he chooses to share...
People don't know enough the impact that stealing has on small content creators...
I think what happens often is these smaller redstoners who make the original builds don't always have the best editing to make building these contraptions clear. Of course this doesn't apply to everything but typically these larger channels make instructions in higher quality. Part of the reason I like shulkercraft so much is that they make most of their guides on making farms easier to follow than most other creators.
Thanks, seriously as someone who loves to play minecraft but is teribad at redstone and base building finding the actual source creators is refreshing. i always got frustrated watching stuff like 10 great redstone doors or whatever but they suck at explaining the design or how to do it cuz they did not create it ^_^
great voice you have there, purpledragonnuke! (Btw, you sound almost exactly like whitelight.)
Another thing to note is that even though Shulkercraft credits the designers, they don't ask for permission. Ilmango designed a cobblestone farm and made a video about it with a tutorial in it. Shulkercraft took the design and made their own video without asking and got more views than ilmango. Another thing is that they clickbait nether tree drops per hour by including the non-stem blocks. But the worst clickbait they did was "how to get infinite diamonds". The video was just them saying you can buy diamond gear from villagers.
Fantastic video and all to familiar these days with the hard workers not getting the credit they so sorely deserve. I know shulkercraft should be featured at lot more stealing from most redstoners like the scicraft geniuses.
I saw Mumbo’s name show up and got concerned… nice to see he’s being used as the example of how to properly do it.
Also nice to see most commenters seem to agree with me that the Shulkercraft things seems like more of an honest oversight than anything.

It's a pain in the butt xpp. But those Redstone creations will always be referred to you my guy, no matter how many times they got stolen xpp.
Such a shame to see this problem is still in the UA-cam community. As a content creator myself I can say it feels degrading when you spend sometimes more than a day brainstorming videos ideas, executing recording and editing, just to see someone spend 3 seconds of their time taking it and adding some cool sound effect or music over what you made and calling it something "new."
I find it funny how the editing style of BBlocks’ videos is IDENTICAL to an og youtube content creator called MagmaMusen. Honestly, the little titles at the top of the screen are uncannily similar.

Underrated very underrated channel I've ever seen in my life . More underrated than Ryan Trahan. Like you deserved more than 10M subs. Thank god this was recommend to me . Those fools will pay!
I cannot remember how long it took me to design my own flush 4x4 piston door for the castle I built in my hardcore world. It was long, it was far from optimized/compact, but I was satisfied that it worked (it had pistons visible in the floor and ceiling and a redstone torch on the walls as there were no observers at the time). These people do not understand redstone, nor do they understand the concepts behind it (calling "flush" a door that clearly is not only show how they do not know what flush means).
really good video. tbh I would hardly call them redstoners if they dont know what they are doing
Great video, finally this is being addressed and talked about.
The king of bedrock redstone is here❤️❤️
@@Mcedits.1 The creator of the 17x17 cave door for MCBE :)
Skippy 6 gaming has a 3x3 piston door uploaded for bedrock.
So glad i watched the end of the video before attempting to build it.
The opening sequence doesnt work, he then replaces the missing block onto the piston, closes the door, which does work and declares it all done 😂
Bblocks said that you can use any blocks for the door but you can't use unpushable blocks like obsidian, glazed terracotta etc.
