I would like to know how prince wrote this song and passed it on. I have heard 1999 mixed w manic monday and the verses are interchangeable as well, its very cool to do every other verse and the songs combine to tell another story! Prince is still doing amazing things after his passing, incredible
Sorry... it's a manic monday...just can't handle reddit anymore either..
Hermosa gracias por regalarnos tu musica saludos desde peru 😀😀😀😍
Wonderful 😊😀☺
Boy is this ironic.
If Prince gave a song to you to sing, he liked you.. He wouldn't otherwise.
Ok
I was at this show! I remember everyone completely losing their sh*t when Prince came out. Thanks for sharing, this really brought me back.
SOOOOOOOOOOOOO LUCKY!
😄💞✌️🥰☯️🙏💯
I'm losing it just listening to the video!!!!
Amazing!
My sister and I were at the very same concert at the Warfield theater when Prince showed up I just remember the whole crowd going crazy when he came on stage!
Their harmony was spectacular. Prince was phenomenal.
I wish we had footage.
Damn, that was really Prince voice in there. Nice!
Respects to Susanna for being who she was. Many girls would have threw themselves into Prince whether they like him or not for the fame of it. The Bangles were a really good fun group who actually wrote their owns stuffs. They were good girls playing popular rock music.
Prince & Susannah dated for a while. He wrote this song and, I think, gave it to her as he often did with his music. Hey, Susannah if you’re out there....what’s the real story? Tell us.
They NEVER dated she turned him down, he let them have the anyway. There were a lot of false stories especially after prince started dating the sister of one of the girls in his band. Her name was Susanna moiven, people thought it was Susanna Hoffs so even more rumors started
Manic Moday is just a fantastic pop song. Just goes to show how talented the guy was.
Prince was too ahead of his time. No one will match him.
Got that right. I am still in mourning.
exactly
Not too ahead at all...just right. If not, he wouldn't have made the impact that he did. He was innovative, extremely talented, and driven!
Top comment, hè was well ahead of his time
You must not listen to much music. There are plenty. Brown, Bowie, Dylan, Lennon, McCartney, Page
Immortal legends Bangles & Prince ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Oh my people! This is amazing 🤩😍 rest in peace Jimmy Buffett and everyone... It's MONDAY, Labor Day 2023.
Too bad there's not video of this. But to those who were there you have a memory that will last a lifetime.😂❤

susanna hoffs, a Queen that I carry in my heart forever.
This was my first concert!!!
Great song written and composed by Prince that became a greatest hit performed by The Bangles.I miss Prince and I love The Bangles.
So awesome ,seen the Bangles 5 times .
Cmon honey lets go make some noise!
Cmon honey lets go make some noise!
The Bangles were a very good band, a solid unit.
I watched their "Behind the Music" rockumentary! (I highly reccomend it) Talk about a powerhouse and destined for success, talented band. These ladies were a force of nature and extremely talented. I feel blessed to have grown up when they were dropping hits on the radio and TV. I believe they could've gone another direction in their style early on and still achieved massive success
A while back I and the band I was in got to record music with a guy who knew Mathew Sweet. He had nothing but high praise for Mathew and Sussana Hoffs.
LUCKY!
I love A Different Light album.. I still got my cassettes like All over the place.. Bangles Rocked!!!!!
I’d kill to see the full footage of this, sounds like they were having a good time.

nr99 But then you’d have to see the -14 session musicians they use to sound decent. Best songs: Written by others. Best instruments: played by others.
The Go Gos are a real band. These ladies are not
Scuse. Me. I have to go play Hazy Shade of Winter with my band. Hey look ma. No freakin pit musicians!
@@peterzangdidn’t they have a number one hit with Eternal Flame?
Prince in San Francisco in 1986. He was on top of his game. Great.
Wonderful !!
Prince was crazy about Susanna Hoff's. That's how The Bangles ended up with the song!
So awesome ,seen the Bangles 5 times .
SO. FUCKING. LUCKY!
Do you blame him who what guy didn't have a thing for her
So awesome ,seen the Bangles 5 times .
Wonderful !!
I used to listen to this while heading to work in the train.
Thank you thank you
This is probably the most timeless song from the 80's. (Okay, this and Boys of Summer. And HOW was this not video recorded?!? Gah!!)
Wonderful😀
Definitely got some raspberry beret elements.
superserial it's the same melody line from 1999.
Superserial Prince said that he would get ideas for songs while writing another songs. So manaic Monday came out before raspberry. So he might have gotten the idea while writing the song.
Brandon Harris He could have came up with idea for the song during the 1999 sessions. Remember, Prince was badass!!
What a perfect duo
ICONS 🎶
Prince was crazy about Susanna Hoff's. That's how The Bangles ended up with the song!
Weren't we all crazy about Susanna?
They make it sound great, though.
afl steve She was ok.
I liked me some Debbie.
LOL--Susanna Hoff's what?? Apostrophes matter...
Prince had the finest taste in women it seems
The Bangles rock !!!💜💜💜💜💜
Nice song.We miss Prince.
Yes!!!
Great to play it on radio in 1986, and, while it's May now, the album still finds it's way to the CD machine on a regular basis. Even though it was written by "Christopher", listing the publisher as Controversy Music gave it away.
awesome
Awesome!! In my Bangles playlist with the demo, the 12" mix and a cover by a guy named Rob! Thanks for uploading this special recording.
Ty💜🙏💜Are That’s how he would’ve wanted it. .. I think in my 💜
Rest In Heavenly Peace🙏🤍🕊🙏♥️
Awesome
Doesn't it matter that I have to feed the both of us...employments down. 💘 💘 love that part!
HEY THANKS! I HEARD IN AN BANGLES INTERVIEW 'SEVERAL TIMES' SO YOU CAN FIND IT PRETTY QUICKLY, THAT PRINCE PLAYED A SOLO USING A GIBSON LES PAUL AT THIS SHOW & THE GIRLS WERE FREAKED AT HOW HE PLAYED & THAT THEY ALL NEVER FORGOT THAT 1 RIFT & MOMENT
STEPHEN CHRISTIAN. Thus the photo of him onstage with them, playing a Les Paul.
Plus he wrote the song too
Thanks, Susanna. Shalom, to you!
Bellas las cuatro ! ... no hay mucho márgen para elegir ! ...
Legendary is you, Susanna!
I saw them at Astroworld In Houston Texas . Was a big fan . It was around 86 , 87 . They were awesome.
Great
OMG Loved it! It's awesome !
Glad you liked it and thank you so much! ❤️😄
Prince and Miss Hoff can't go wrong 👍
I always find it interesting that this song is called the song Prince wrote for the Bangles. That was not the original intent. He wrote it for Kotero and the album Apollonia 6. It did not do well. Then he gave it to the Bangles and they made it into the hit it became. If you search for it, you can find the Apollonia 6 album and Kotero version of Manic Monday. This is classic now thanks to the Bangles.
Its just a figure of speech
I know Prince was a greedy bastard. This was always my least favorite Bangles song. Now I know why.
@@markpalavosvrahotes5575 Actually, he did it because it failed in its first rendition. It was not greed as he did not get much for it. Something like 10% of the revenue the bands generated on single sales, and less than that on album sales. He essentially got nothing for it from Kotero. Only when the Bangles did something with it did he get any substantial revenue (nothing like the music he published himself however).
Uhhh..no. It was a classic because Prince wrote it. If Prince had not wrote this song, the bangals would not have had have been able to sing the song b/c it would not exist. The bengals were a good group, but let's not at all skew the reality....which is....when Prince wrote a song for you...it was a guaranteed hit or close to it. Also, on an additional note, when Prince wrote the song for Apollonia 6..it was written as a filler song for the album and Prince never intended for the song to be a hit on their album. However, being the musical genius that he was, he knew that if played by another group, it would be a hit given their style and sound. So yeah, Prince takes first place here and the bengals takes second.
I was hoping to see a video of this performance.
Damn, I wish there was video of this!
If only there was a handphone with good camera quality eh?😂
3:07 that picture is pure history, I wish there were more
Brilliant 🎸🎸🎸🎸🤘🤘👍👌👌
great job Super Fan
prince wrote that song btw.thats why he is here with them.
The look & shoulder 😀 prince or Susanna? Both make it say everything to everybody!
I was there !
🔥
:)))))))))))
Peace to them all, and Prince's soul....
Cmon honey lets go make some noise!
She doesnt sing that bit live anymore either
My God, they were hot! Good grazing!!
Perfeitinha, você é muito demais: nunca deixei de corre atrás!!! Beijinhos linda.
Long live PRN #Legacy
Prince @ 3:14 O(+> 4ever
Music best best
manic monday was written by Prince during his sleep...he dreamt the song/lyrics/melody call his partner to come to record...she was not satisfied of that and she asked him....do you sleep on your music...history made ..(documentary for Prince...its real)
Susanna is the best looking woman in history....not even close
Wonder how Susana feels when Prince gave them a hit song? It wasn't supposed to be the Bangles song. It's for the group called Apollonia 6.
I'm still hunting for her movie The Allnighter.
I'm here after the Dave Chapelle Sticks and Stones. The way Chapelle sang 1999 at the beginning sounded like Manic Monday. I Googled it to see if there was a connection and boy was I surprised!
I did NOT know Manic Monday was Prince's song!
Why didn't they get this on video!😌
She looks better now than she did back then! Amazing
You can sing 1999 to this music too
Я почему-то , до этой аудиозаписи , думал , что Принц и Браслеты - это две совершенно разные Вселенные !
Рад , что ошибался .
I think there is an acoustic version he did. Swear I think I've seen the video . . What a musician he was.
😎👍
🌻🧿🍀
Ironic, the keyboard takes front and center in this song as Prince wrote it... and it was one of their biggest hits. In fact, whenever they used the keyboard they tended to have a hit - unfortunately, most of their songs lack it since none of the four play keyboards. Great recording, there is very limited material of Prince playing this with them - thanks.
actually, when they were practicing the song initially after prince they gave it to them, he randomly showed up at their rehearsals, and they didn't have a keyboard player at that time, but they still showed him and he told them that they didn't need a keyboard player and that it would definitely work without it. which is why
I shouldn't be suprised because it totally sounds like a Prince written song but I am and I had no clue lol
I saw a video where Vicki essentially admitted Prince had a bit of a crush on Sue Hoffs, but then again, who didn't?
That said, I do wonder if they hooked up. That part has always been left ambiguous, by Vicki included, but it's probably best that way.
The eighties were natural beauties 😍 roamed planet 🌏 and not those Instagram cyborgs these days..I'm a eighties child
Appollonia came up with the chorus though
in this version NO
Kim Berg I think the manic Monday duet with Prince/ Appollonia is on UA-cam . Sounds great!
She claims She wrote the song And told prince about Susanna Hoffs knowing he would like her. She's a liar he saw her in a Bangles video wearing a French maid outfit and fell in love like every other man did.
Vou dizer em português susanna sou apaixonado por vc. Love
fucking siiiickest sone ever!
Damn...no video!
💗🌈💗🌈💗🌈💗
💥 P r i n c e 💥
Impossible to resist Susanna's eyes, like Anne Hathaway's...
Veri best susana am siri lanka ananda
1:35 - Vicki owned a Dumble?
Guess I shouldn't have been surprised.
I like the guy yelling "SHUT UP!" at 0:22
Dale Hendel he was waaaaay excited
Why couldn't Prince love only one
Woman?.
Gorgeous Lady You can ask that to alot men.
@@courylanders8647 good point....
the ultimate Jojo cross reference
The B&W of Prince onstage with the 4 girls, I watched V & S say the guitar is Vicki's LP Custom, and they're actually playing "Hero Takes a Fall".
Can somebody conjure up THAT audio?
So what was Debbi's Free Throw Average?
That’s weird cause America doesn’t have a royal family
Emo Vicki 1:28
Ahhh,Denka・・・・・・・
This sounds like a re-write of “Morning Train.”
Mikey looks like the substitute teacher you just can't stand with that short 'blonde' hair.
