Very enjoyable video Jason and seriously amazing location to camp in. I agree that announcing the location could invite the numpty gang that leave their crap everywhere. Condensation in that tent on the land you could probably can't be avoided can it? Nice tent though and good to try it whilst the seasons change for reviewing too 👍 Have a great week. Lee 👍😊
😄😂 The numpty gang. I never knew you were a comedy genius 🤔 Well camping beside a massive body of water would not help the situation waith so I won't give up on it. I would imagine in the spring and summer is when it will really perform the best. After that I will review it properly. Have a good one Lee 😎
Ireland scenic. The condensation put me off getting tent. trying to keep down sleeping bags dry, I think I'll go with bobcat tent ive already got. its extra 1.9kg but very waterproof. That looks good spot. Best to keep it to yourself.
I have seen people use a bivvy bag with those tents but I think that defeats the purpose of a lightweight tent. Definitely stick with the bobcat, the original lanshan 2 with the separate inner is a much better tent than the Lanshan 1 pro and weighs 1.2kg 👍
@@jketcham9004 looks like a good mat, I just googled it. There doesn't seem to be an R value for it but as a summer mat, 350g is very light and I would assume the packsize is quite small. I've since bought a thermarest xtherm its 560g I think and a really good r value but they're crazy money so definitely an investment
Hay Jason, great video mate. Well done on not sharing the location I completely agree with you. I have seen lads on UA-cam giving locations to amazing places and a few weeks after they were absolutely destroyed with shit left everywhere. Sound man keep the videos going. you are doing a great job.
I tend to keep it vague now for the same reasons. Wild camping gets a bad name and access to the mountains is at the land owners discretion. I would hate for that access to be taken away and not be able to camp in these places. Cheers Ken, I'll be heading out even more over the next year. You'll be sick of looking at me 😄
I'm a new subscriber. I just found your channel yesterday. I'm looking forward to camping after not been for about 10 years or so. I used to go with friends but now so I want to go by myself. It's scary yet exciting. I have anxiety and I'm an introvert so I like being on my own. I ordered a lot of gear so I cant wait to get them and have a play with them at a wood near my homein the next week or so. Your video are brilliant. I've been binge watching them your a natural and very funny. Keep the video's coming 😊
Hi thanks for subscribing. I am the same, very much an introvert so I'm quite happy to be out by myself. I'm also fairly socially awkward so there is that 😄 Best of luck for your first solo camp, there is nothing like it. Get yourself the little orange ear plugs if you are going to the woods, they will help you sleep and they are very cheap. I will do my best to keep the videos going, thank you for watching them.. All the best 👍
Hey Jason, I have the Landshan 2 myself and it does take a bit to figure out how to pitch it perfectly on flat ground. But I think its even harder to pitch on uneven ground. I have heard that Pro tents have an issue with condensation. Interesting you had the same problem. Ah yes, a little breeze would have definitely helped with all the condensation. I had the same issue a couple of weeks ago on one of my backpacking trips. LOVE those tent pegs, I have never seen any like that before. I need those! ~RVA~
I was aware of the condensation issues before I purchased the tent but I had no idea how much of an issue it really was. The tent pegs are worth their weight in gold. I popped a link in the description for them. I have ordered more so that I have enough to use on each tie out point. Thanks for watching, all the best. Jason
@@RamblingOn I know right , thats what I have. (0 condensation issues) I think the double wall tent is better for grass camping where condensation is more probable than the single wall. My friend that has the 2 of pro's (5 Lanshans he has) both of them leak on him. So he bought spray sealant to seam seal. I used the liquid seam sealer to seal my 2.
@@RVAHikerGirl This is good to know because the Lanshan 2 has been on my wishlist... This video made we worried it would have condensation, but apparently not!
Only recently discovered your channel and really like it. Totally agree with you concerning the not naming places, too many idiots ruining it for us. Never been Ireland so have no clue were you are but it looks stunning. I’ve heard it said that Southern Ireland is nicer🤷♂️, apologies if you’re in northern 🤣, anyway I definitely want to come visit and camp. Watched your vid on anxiety, you’re a fighter, good on you and thanks for sharing it, people need to know about the struggle. Keep going pal👍👍
Cheers Phil, Ireland is definitely worth a visit. Hopefully I will be able to show more and more of it this year. I'm down south but I haven't seen much of my own country, a big reason for me starting on UA-cam was to push me to go to new places instead of doing the same hikes over and over. Thank you for watching the videos and thanks again for the advice on the backpack. I'm now torn between the two bags 😄
BRILLIANT! I visit Ireland a lot but not wild camped yet. Condensation is the reason I'd never have a single wall tent. Ok when it's milder weather but in winter they're a pain I think. Subbed to your channel, even if it's just to play 'spot the lanshan' haha
😄 I completely agree. I am going to have to do a long term review next year for sure. It's always fun game, fair bad when I can't see it myself 😄 Thank you for the support, all the best. Jason
Cheers Ross.. I've seen other people on UA-cam who have a lot bigger channels taking a similar approach so I'm learning from then as well. They have seen the side affects of naming locations and now they keep it vague.
I have a link in the description to the pegs, they really are class. Ive bashed them with a rock and they just dont bend. Ive ordered more myself so I have enough for all my tie out points 😁
Yea don't tell people where that place is. People that trash roads in our forests around here have caused them to be gated or taken out; mainly it seems like druggies that do that kind of thing... Beautiful spot, I would totally camp there.
It's happening here and in the UK where local Authorities are clamping down on wild camping with restrictions on overnight parking and rangers patrolling etc. Anyone who loves wild camping would never damage the habitat or leave any trace behind them. I'll be going back when the winter returns, a frosty morning there would be amazing. Thank you as always for watching, all the best 🙂 Jason
Thanks for your review Jason and great you’re going to test it some more 👍 Your camp spot looked great, I’m more in the camp of trusting that others will do right - knowledge and education (as you did with ‘leave no trace’) could have more influence than assuming the worst. Maybe I’d change my view if I felt the backlash of bans but that response would just move the problem to somewhere else of course rather than changing anything at source. I see your content as promoting responsible behaviours rather than ignorant people using it as a source to cause destruction…maybe I’m too naive though 😉
Ah yeah I see what you mean. I will be promoting leave no trace in every video and I do believe that people watching videos on youtube, about wild camping or hiking, tend to love the outdoors and do respect it. Ive seen where bigger youtubers have named their locations in the past and have seen the side affects of it. The result is now they don't mention exact locations. I suppose if they are going out to just drink and trash the place they are not going to hike 600m+ to get to a spot 😄
@@RamblingOn the price currently paid for accessible wildness and ignorance it seems! If others have seen the impact of them disclosing accessible spots then that should inform your decision to disclose or not for sure 👍
Hi Jason. Grate video. I know what you mean about no names for places but anyone that puts the effort into a good hike know to leave no trace. If you even said what county it's in wouldn do any harm. Would I be wrong saying it's in Waterford ( that's without naming the place)🤫
Thanks very much.. Ah yeah I agree with you there but at the same time if they google the different mountain ranges and research a bit its not a hard one to find. It's not waterford anyway but I'm saying no more 😅 I appreciate you watching the video, all the best 👍 Jason
I would say go for any double walled tent that has good ventilation. If you are out in 3 season weather and you don't camp over the winter then go for the mesh inner to add to ventilation. While some perform better than others, every tent will have some amount of condensation but having that inner will keep your gear away from the out flysheet and prevent it from getting wet from the condensation. Also camping beside large bodies of water like I was here or in wet humid conditions with little airflow will increase the levels of condensation. If you have a budget in mind just let me know and I can suggest a few tent's to look in to. I hope this helps
Hi Jason, super vid again. You’ll have condensation in the Pro no matter what the weather. I have both & prefer the regular Lanshan. Tell nobody where you camp, you can’t be held responsible if some di@k heads ruin the place.
Thanks very much. I had it in my head that I would be able to solve the condensation issue, somehow there must be a simple solution.. Not a hope 😄 I won't give up on it just yet but I think in this climate the pro is more of a 2 season tent. I agree with you, I love my original Lanshan 2. I was thinking the same. I would hate to see it being destroyed. All the best for the week ahead, have a good one 🙂 Jason
I didn't do anything really, it had only been out of the fridge a few hours so it was grand. If you are worried you could freeze the meat and then as you hike it will defrost and keep it fresh for longer
Great video. I have the L1 pro . like you I end up so wet on the inside due to condensation it makes long trips really tough. I have another single wall but not issue with condensation. What is the answer to the L1pro condensation issue?
I don't have a solution for it unfortunately. Both times I took it out it was horrendous. I would imagine that in a warm dry climate that it may perform well. I hope to try it out over the summer to see if the condensation is more manageable. Thank you very much for watching 🙂⛺
