@@Glaciershark I've been thinking about getting some of those. I get open access quota. I'm not too excited about longlining by myself, and I don't want to have to worry about keeping crew busy. Those seem like a potentially good option.
@@Glaciershark it used to be like that here too. Last year was a better price than it had been. It's hardly worth fishing for them. It used to be easy money. The permits became worth a fortune. Now most of those permit holders regret buying them.

@@FishTough Lots of boats use slinky pots here now as we have a ravenous sperm 🐋 population that are experts in stealing black cod

You ever have killer whales pick them off your line? Been dealing with that up this way
Killer whales are pretty rare to see down here. I've only seen them a few times, never longlining.
Whats the usual price per pound for theese fish ?
Price has been low. We got around 2.20 per pound with some good grade.
They pay 8.00 for the 7ups here Yakutat but they are not many that size
