Nuzlocking THE ENTIRE POKEMON FRANCHISE, But I Can't Use Repeats (Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 23 вер 2024
- It's time for a new adventure! After having trekked through many of these games time and time again, I wanted to have one final ultimate challenge in the vanilla mainline Pokemon franchise... Can I beat, every SINGLE Pokemon game in chronological order in a hardcore nuzlocke setting, and without reusing a single Pokemon in any other game? For instance, if I use Bulbasaur in Red version, I won't be able to use it in Blue, Yellow, Firered, or any other game. Come along on this journey with me and find the struggles, the cuts, the innovations, the strategies, and the potential laughs along the way.

Ahh, it seems I forgot to get the PLA part out of this video's layout. Oh well, that'll be in the next video on its own. Anyway, if you enjoyed, make sure to subscribe, like, yada yada YT engagement is fun. And if you'd like to request a challenge, feel free to leave a super thanks and join the Discord server so I can get with you about making those happen: discord.gg/mmvn8wy
Lol I was so confused i was like NANI THIRD VERSION !!!??
@@darkor7107 Did you forget about Glistening Platinum?
@@FroststormFrenzy Oh yeaaahhhh my bad ! 😅
Try a type-lock in each generation. Pick one type to use across the whole thing. Or maybe just a generation then pick a different type for a different generation. For example fire type in gen 1, how hard would it be? Or normal type in gen 4. Something like that.
I think it makes more sense for PLA to be its own video so people who want to watch PLA doesn't need to click on the BDSP crap.
It actually makes sense Barry didnt evolve his pokemon. He's so impatient I bet he keeps pressing B to speed through text, hence preventing evolution :P
yeah, B is the running button after all
And yet he also somehow had the patience to catch a Munchlax. Or maybe he's just lucky and got one first try.
@@hyperbiscuit2284 oh no I call hacks on that one
Munchlax is in the grand underground in bdsp. Heracross however is not.
PLA is gonna be interesting. Because there’s only like 6 mandatory battles, the only actually tense moment is Volo, but that one moment will easily be the most tense moment of the whole series
Reminds me of how you can defeat Volo and Giratina with a single fast Weavile. I think you can find that on youtube too.
Litterally the meme fast boi vs god lol
@@KromosiosSpeed is OP. At least it doesn't boost crit rate any more.
I think with pla nuzlockes the game ends with origin palkia/dialga since volo is technically post game
@@soupsoup4539 normally, I’d agree saying that’s the true ending to PLA and everything else is postgame, but meatball mentioned fighting Volo in this vid and has separate colors for rather or not Volo was beaten in his mono-type hardcore nuzlockes chart
@@LegithiroYeah i just got to that part of the video 😭 my b dude
We are going to *need* a recap video of the entire run! I want to hear best/worst lists, most clutch performances, most hilarious moments, and things you would change if you did it over again! This can feed your content for a long time after it’s over and we will eat it up
"Tell your son that his mother should have swallowed him." seemed slightly more aggressive than necessary
Plus having putties with guns against teenagers
Old man chaotic meatball: ok viewers. Watch me beat Pokemon ultra deluxe red crimson burning remake X 7 by using this new evolution line by raising my pokemon sideways on a Wednesday
I've been triggered by this comment only because of X7. I hate Mega Man X7.
@@ChaoticMeatballTVI was expecting the fact it was a red remake to be the thing. Don't worry I'm sure legends Lugia the prequel sequel shadow Lugia dlc will be just the thing

Honestly, I think doing it again in reverse order (starting with Scarlet and Violet and ending with Red/Blue) would also be equally interesting even if that means you have to play through the Alolan games again.
Doubt he'd do it for that reason alone... those games are a *slog* to get through.
I think this is a really cool idea and I'd love to see that
Should throw in "no items in battle, including held items". It has to be a little different. Probably also require beating post-game/DLC story too.
No TMs or Grand Underground for bonus points
Maybe in a compleyely random order, really needing to think about the encounters, and not having 4 alola games in a row
I would be surprised if he does this again just from how long its taken to get to this point. While I'm sure some games are more fun then others it does seem like its been limiting the kind of videos he has time to make since these take a lot of time.
Funny story: As a kid playing diamond, I hated how useless the companions' pokemons were during the double battles. They only healed and never did any damage to the enemy. Eventually, I realized that their second pokemons were always stronger (for kid me stronger = attack). So, whenever I had a partner in a double batter, the first pokemon I KO would be my friend's...
Scizor before the second gym is absurdly crazy. I know it would've been way too strong but Manaphy & Jirachi could've been used before the second gym. In SW/SH due to the DLC one could have a bunch of legends before the first gym. Shame Jynx didn't get an evolution though Magmar & Electabuzz. I presume due to the Jynx controversy it didn't get an evolution though Porygon got 2 by Gen 4
Good to see someone else using Lumineon. that fish did some great work for me in my Water monotype Ultra Moon playthrough. Maybe its bug relationship will pay off in the future with Quiver Dance, but for now, U-turn on a Water type is real nice
Such a good fish. It let me sweep Cynthia in original Diamond by getting 2 superboosts with Silver Wind
To continue with your Power Rangers questions, I've always wondered, in one episode Kimberly tells the new Rangers that they're on call 24 hours a day but for some reason none of the villains ever attacked at night or during school hours. Sure was awful considerate of them. Even if you take into account that they might need sleep as well, Lord Zedd only needed to sleep once every century so he could have attacked whenever he wanted to.
True but I remember vaguely about there being some anti-escalation rule in Mighty Morphin that might have impacted the early villains.
16:15 😆 Can I just say - that has GOT to be the best Richard Horvitz and Fred Tatasciore impersonation I've heard in years! xD
It would be intresting to see a "leftover" pokemon nuzlocke with some famously hard fanedit game. Maybe Radical Red?
Ah, BDSP. Brings back the memories of spinning in a circle to get my Buneary to evolve long enough to watch revenge of the sith in it's intirety and that still being the most fun I had in this game.
I take it that this game is not worth the 60 bucks? 😂
@@potitishogun2961997I mean when there’s probably (you never got this from me) sites that have the original games for free and the fact the older players said the were disappointed in this “remake” yeah let’s just say not worth 60 dollars if they did platinum style instead of diamond and pearl people would’ve agreed and said take my money for this it’s don’t take my money heck sword and shield has earned more money and people say they’re lazy and empty games
That depends on what you plan to do with the game. If you value completing Pokémon home more easily without needing to play a Johto game more than once, it’s great!
My head canon for the power rangers question is that would require the use of human made guns and they wouldn't lower themselves to do so. Hence every plan uses their own magic powers, not technology.
I think it's more of a pride thing. They don't want them dead they want them defeated so they can gloat about it. It's also why some bad guys double cross each other cause they want to be the one to defeat the Rangers.
16:14 Great Alpha impression
Not me actually, that was Frankie over at Red Cow Arcade, great podcast that he and EJ have over there!
@@ChaoticMeatballTV but still thanks
Barry is so impatient that he just spams B through the text boxes and accidentally keeps his pokemon unevolved.
Insane that after the whole series this is the first time you've finished it with only one pokemon left
31:37 Meatball, you dirty dirty boy😏😂
And the double team
Anyone else think that the female Ace Trainer in Gen. 4 (Mainly Sinnoh) is one of the peak design of this given trainer class? Especially with the 3D model of her here in BDSP.
Gen. 5, Gen. 6 (X/Y), and Gen. 7 (Alola) are all tied in a close 2nd. With Kanto & Johto in third, and Galar & Paldea in 4th.
Run saved by the power of love and broken game mechanics!
Almost done the series 😢 pokemon better make more games quick
😂
I hope they don’t so they turn out good
Does this mean you've learnt to read? 😮
Please, for the love of Arceus, Pokemon really needs to take their time on the games
Gen 5 remakes when
Imagine if he dies right during the final battle of Scarlet and has to restart.
I personally think that Barry's Pokemon being unevolved is meant to be a meta-joke about how he's always in a rush, and thus mashing B through all the screens to skip through the text faster...
The hyper potion you gave to Scizor after the fantina fight reminded me of chugging estus flasks after a boss fight in dark souls. Same vibes
Scizor was one of my favorite Pokémon and I feel like it’s so underrated. Thank you Meatball!
I lost it at the
"Billy he's got a gun"
(Puddy noises after)
Great joke.
Yeah.. I remember MandJTV was mad about the Razor Fang in BDSP too. It was a dumb decision to put it in the post game.
I suggest you to do the type weakness challenge.😅😅
For example - you should defeat a water type gym with a team consisting only of fire/ground/rock types.
You can change your team for every gym and for elite4/champion you should select the team which has most type weakness against the majority.
Set your own rules to make it further hard .
HERE WE GOOOO strap in kids it's time for more pain, setup sweeps, and missed ranges with uncle Meatball.
I get way too hyped when this series gets a new episode.
Okay here's a suggestion for a challenge so stupid it has to be attempted since it may actually be feasible. I made it up the other week and beat it in two days in LeafGreen but let's see if you can do it.
PrimeLocke. Beat the game using only prime-numbered Pokedex entries in battle. This applies either to the full regional dex of the game you're playing OR the National Dex, but not both at the same time. Pick a game and let 'er rip. Just to see what happens.
For the record my final team in LeafGreen was Venusaur, Electrode, Dragonite, Umbreon, Slowking, and Nidoqueen. Yes I enabled postgame evolutions early, no it did not make things any easier.
Hmm, well with Alpharad's new adding too many types to Emerald mod, Prime-types actually sounds like it could be very fun.
@@ChaoticMeatballTV I actually came up and beat my challenge a few weeks before that video game out. Mono-Prime on that game certainly seems up your alley but at the same time, to get used to the exact same set, why not consider the way I tried it? Either as a test run or its own challenge.
Every game is doable with its local Dex by default, with maybe Kalos and Hisui doable with National. Orre and Johto as well, but I am slightly less confident. Doesn't make any of this easy but it should make it fun to teambuild moment to moment.
Example: Beating Brock in LeafGreen with a Metapod, Weedle, and Rattata. Deathless. I had to do that in order to beat the challenge. It was the most satisfying Badge I've ever received.
Starterlocke challenges would be cool. Either each regions 3 starters speedrunning something like Kanto or Hoenn(just for lack of story time) or a team of fire starters grass and water all trying to beat a game as fast as possible in a nuzlocke setting would be unique
How about sub-450 BST monotypes? Surely they would pose a fun and unique challenge instead of causing the immense pain and agony that limited options usually give!
I knew that the two Route 1 Pokemon of Sinnoh would be the starters for this part. XD
Good luck and here's to the home stretch of Arceus, Scarlet and Violet. Hopefully you'll finish the Franchiselocke before Christmas. It's been a long two years but I am glad you did this, because it was a nice way to give battle experience to crappy Pokemon that nobody ever uses casually. ^_^
You captured lightning-in-a-bottle with this series I have no idea how you follow this up
I just didn't watch any of your videos until the series continues 😂
"assuming I don't have what just happened in this game happen again"
*PIANO INTENSIFIES*
this ending felt like watching yugi cheat his way to win a duel lmao
Here's a series suggestion :
Every generation +remake (but not every game) with, as much as possible, the same team, changing only one member each new game.
That series would hard-stop at Gen V, non-Unovan Pokemon don't exist until the post-game
@kylehennkens9578 hence the stipulations of "as much as possible" and "every generation, not every game", thus giving the possibility of going for Black/White2 instead of 1.
Idea: restart the Nuzlocke of the entire franchise from the beginning while keeping the same chart of used Pokemon from this one, just to see how far you can go until you're finally unable to finish a game due to not having enough Pokemon left. Push yourself to your limits!
(... that means giving yourself a starter among the very few things left in Kanto I guess)
Maybe hold on to that thought of therapy, and count how often you acvocade for gun violence. Especially in relation to a school setting.
Why is Flint a fire type expert with TWO filetypes on his team?
The number of deaths to end this video is so NICE
Crazy how my first time playing through the game, I beat it with mostly Houndoom setup leading to Houndoom also affection dodging Earthquake at the end. Such a good boi. Lol
im so happy the balalalalalala sound is back that the beginning of the video it made me really happy :D
can't belive this series is almost over
Been watching this from the beginning. One thing I'd be interested in knowing is 1) Who you would choose as the MVP of each team and 2) Which Pokémon was the biggest surprise for you?
Absolutely loved that solid reference near the beginning of brilliant diamond. That had me laughing so hard.
12:28 Neat, some love for Lowart- Archie Sonic may be a trip, but it's a fun trip to listen to.
Also as an afterthought. If you had of lost then would you restart the challenge or just the game? Or would you just call it quits on the challenge overall?
Yeah, I was wondering that too.
In the last video I believe he said he’s restart the game
26:23 That sped-up Mr. Mime do be vibin' tho.
"why do i need to think with a tank" oh that's what 'thinktank' means? Lol
I love how Piplup is named NO!
My head cannon is the reason that Barry evolved his Pokémon late because he was too impatient to watch the evolution screen.
So my room mate and I came up with a challenge that was fun but depending on the rule set could be hard or laughably easy. Basically you start a Pokémon game and you can only use normal type Pokémon and only one in the beginning , as you beat gyms you roll a random type and gain access to use Pokémon of that type but you can only have one of the given type in the party at a time. I have done this in gen 6 and Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl with level caps. I have not tried it in a Nuzlock setting.
I've tried out a number generator nuzlocke. Use a generator to decide a random pokemon from the pokedex and that's your encounter. Could be *any* pokemon in the dex. You'll use pokemon you'd never, ever consider otherwise!
I know most people don’t like BDSP but I really love the games, I played through it with my son and we had a blast. I just wish they added the platinum content along with the new stuff it would’ve been perfect
I wish they added the alternate forms of Pokémon to the game. alola and the rest.
If you’re into modding the switch you can get sigma platinum which is the best of both worlds. It’s if you want to do that tho as I’ve not
I wish they also remade the sprites for each character. They are horrible remakes but not bad games. After all they are copy and pastes of the original and playing with your son are memories that matter the nost!
I really enjoyed BDSP as well. I've never played Platinum, so I can't compare there, but it's definitely a huge improvement over DP IMO.
While they definitely have problems - their inability to even fix well-known bugs from the original games is basically a crime - I think a lot of people really overemphasize the game's issues.
I stopped playing after Emerald and only started with the Switch era, so I liked the opportunity to play the Sinnoh games. I loved what they did with the Underground but I was really hoping and expecting some Distortion World fun with good graphics. Shame we only got the Griseous Orb fight as a tease.
Apologies if this has already been suggested but;
A Nuzlocke where you are only allowed to have one type of each pokemon for the entire game. So if you choose Charmander as your starter, he is the only fire type you are allowed to have and as a fire type they are only allowed to have fire type moves.
They CAN have normal type moves, such as tackle etc, but Normal type moves are the only exception to the rule.
If a Pokemon has Dual Typing, you can either limit it to one type or use both. For example, if you pick Bulbasaur then he is either limited to having only Grass Moves, or limited to Poison Moves - but per the first rule you cannot catch another Grass type or Poison type depending on what you choose
OR
You allow Bulbasaur to have Poison AND Grass type moves, but you cannot catch another Grass type or Poison type.
A underrated challenge I would suggest, a extreme randomizer, which randomizer types, evolutions, and other encounters. No one does them any more and honestly I think on my main channel I'll pick them up when I have time
360Chrism does a lot of randomizers for pokemon.
Thank you so for this series it has been really fun to watch
12:40 UHH ABSOLUTELY YOU HAD A COINFLIP CHANCE OF EVAPORATING YOURSELF THRICE AND YOU WENT FOR IT! Admittedly I can totally relate to your reasoning, and it definitely would not have ended your nuzlocke, but I’m still blown away.
Houndoom the actual ANGEL coming down and saving the run
I'm actually so happy legends arceus gets it's own video
It would be interesting to see this done with Drayano hacks, starting with Fire Red Omega ending with Rising Ruby Sinking Saphire. The encounter variety he adds plus the increased difficulty would add a spin to this.
Or for a easier time. Pallet-lockes. Using teams bases on their pokedex color. All blue pokemon, all red ext.
You think barry has the patience to sit through an evo screen when he KNOWS he is about to get smacked? Dude doesnt have patience for anything, starly makes sense for him
Don't you think I didn't catch that MJF reference while sitting here at my desk listening to this wearing my AEW Seattle TShirt from this past weekend!!!
Gliscor, unappreciated? Its drifted between OU and Ubers since its introduction, and sits between the 25th and 16th MOST used mon in a generation, far from unappreciated. It was just national dex format only in SS, and everyone is jumping on the new hotness pokemon in S/V so it doesn't seem as popular as it actually is.
That Houndoom affection clutch at the end was such a protagonist move, wow.
43:29 I know you were already scraping the bottom of the barrel for commentary by gen 3 but YIKES
You did a really good Alpha impression.
0:40 wait why is Phantom A in there
Chaotic meatball in 2070: ok guys we're playing pokemon mega super glistening swift sapphire 4:the remake. We have used 2billion pokemon out of 15trillon
TRULY AN ANIME MOMENT CLUTCH AT THE END THERE
This might be the most chaotic I’ve seen you ever. The flint battle commentary is wild.
I love the added violence in this video.
Wooo new meatball video, gonna be sad once the series ends it’s getting so close!
"Tell your son that his mother should have swallowed him." the cold and brutal FACTNESS of that line got me man XD
The Ice type gym leader? Yes, it's Candice how could you forget? Smell you later
32:36 That likely wasn't planned but look at this team.
The earless squat is ready to take on Sinnoh.
After this you can do a nuzlocke of your favourite Pokémon game, with eggs of all the Pokémon you didn’t use, every route is a random egg
ChaoticMeatball: I will be free, pls Cynthia beat me, i even get rid of bibarel and let my ice move pokemon in range to die and get screwed by Garchomp but ofc Affection wouldnt let me DIE. So i guess i will steel need to play PLA and SV, see you
Anyway that Pinsir did literally nothing in the run lol
Next idea for a challenge, hardcore nuzlocke, single type (your choice), no set up moves allowed
Wow this last fight... You really could have used a Focus Sash in that dog.
43:29 But his hair's like, azure
Wow, that was CLOSE.
That close call with Cynthia had me on the edge of my seat, I was sure we were going to see a wipe!
28:30 Mirror Move does NOT work agains dark types
It works like a regular Psychic move with negative priority
I've been binging your POCs and I'm not gonna lie it's been messing with my head switching back to the nuzlocking the franchise series. Loving the content, jumbled though my watchthrough may be.
How to clap, according to Sinnoh women:
Pull your right hand up to your right ear
Flap your wrists uncontrollably
My headcanon for why Barry evolves his pokemon so late, is that since he's always in such a rush and has no patience for dialogue, he's constantly mashing the B button so that he doesn't accidently talk to someone after a battle, and therefore, he cancels his pokemon's evolutions over-and-over again by accident until he calms down a little later in the story and actually let's the process happen.
My boy Scizor finally making an appearance
WATERLOCKE: THE SERIES
You do a water Monotype of a game in every generation. because Water is always going to be viable (except in White/Black which is why in that case you do White2 or Black2 instead). so it doesn't last forever, you don't double up or do remakes, so it'd be something like Red (or Yellow), Crystal, Emerald, Platinum, Black 2, X, Moon, Shield, Violet. In order to increase the difficult, there's a rule - unless a Water move would be resisted you have to use a Water attacking move if your Water type has one whenever possible, even if it would be more optimal to use a move of a different type. YOU MUST WIN WITH WATER.
alternately, a series where you only use Pokemon that kind of suck. No high BSTs, no optimal stat spreads, the worst movepools.
I laughed when Bibarrel died... then concern grew rapidly as more pokemon met the axe!!! Can't believe this series almost ended in failure! but regardless... Baby game just continue your tried and true strategy of "click A"
TOPEKA KANSAS MENTIONED
EDIT: THANK YOU HOUNDOOM
As a Kansan, the waterfront property in Topeka is gold.
16:00 As a major Power Rangers fan this got the best laugh out of me. Also I've thought about this too. We even see Baboo enter Trinis room while she is asleep. He could have killed her.
Also Cosmic Fury was really good, hope you enjoy it.
I remember when I played Brilliant Diamond I was pissed at the friendship mechanic. The Elite 4 and Cynthia were given competitive items and movesets so it should’ve been even harder than when I played diamond forever ago. Cynthia was known as one of the hardest battles in all of Pokémon. I was incredibly disappointed when my Pokémon just dodged all her attacks and survived attacks that should’ve killed them. Having most of my attacks be crits was also annoying. It was supposed to be even harder and instead it was way easier than most other champions.
the next challenge should be redoing this entire challenge but with shiny pokemon only because you like to suffer.
I’ll probably be watching any challenge you end up doing, but after this series I would love to see the professor oak challenges return with fan games!
Love the "flapping of staravias wings" parody 😂🤣😂🤣
Maybe a challenge of each generation with a themed team based on a different game, tv series or something similar style group of characters, as pokemon ... cant realy think straight atm, tired from a loooooong day
However i can give you 1 team, for gold/silver (at the earliest, could be done better in later generations)
A rabbit, crocodile, tortoise, dog, cat and either an owl or a dragon ... if anyone can guess, good job, if not i can offer the names of the animals to give a simple google search answer cheat sheet
I mean, would you trust a Putty Patroller with a gun? Guys are more likely to shoot the ceiling or worse, each other. Only Tengas would be a worse idea.
Chaotic meatball loves eskies 😂
Normal type starters. The most normal
