- The Laidlows are a triathlon family and growing up Sam’s parents hosted a camp for elite athletes in the south of France. Surrounded by a nurturing but competitive atmosphere, Sam wanted to rise to the top to get his parents' attention. That drive eventually brought him to the highest levels of the sport - and a second place finish at the IRONMAN World Championship in 2022.
His parents took a gamble and had a dream. It worked and Sam and brother are reaping the rewards. Well done Laidlow family. Respect.
That’s such a great quote at the end “ it’s not about achieving greatness that make you happy it’s about attempting / training to become great at something that makes you happy “ … although now he’s achieved greatness .. so he gets both .. 😂😊

Love his attitude and the way he said "young people should be around older people and learn, young people should do' 100% I learnt from older people at 18 (I had friends in their 30's/40's) you really don't see that now and it shows with the arrested development of a lot of this generation, you can see as a 24 year old a mature guy (although he will still make mistakes) like all of us..well done Sam.

I commend his victory and his efforts. I just wish he showed more respect to other competitors. Rivalry is one thing but he does not give homage to those before him and insults his peers. It makes it very hard to be a fan even though his ability amazing. Hopefully that changes with age and maturity but until then ....
Il a choisi de représenté la France, bravo et merci, Sam pourrais-tu parler français ( un peu) dans tes interviews , la représentation de la langue, c’est intéressant également ! Il y a suffisamment de langue anglaise sur UA-cam, ceci dit TRÈS TRÈS AMICALEMENT pour tous les anglophones.
Après la pour le coup, il ne peut pas vraiment choisir vu que c'est le contenu du sponsor qui lui est international donc bon anglais obligatoire.
you could really see the dedication of pro vs amateur(me!). if im only doing like 1/4 of the preparation that this guys do, i could probably achieved 1/16 of what this guys achieved. ok, im gonna be back to work.
