The Son Of Frankenstein was a sequel to the Bride of Frankenstein. Basil Rathbone did a great job as the son of Doctor Frankenstein. As the story opens, he wants to redeem his fathers name as he had something of a bad rap, what with building killing monsters and all.
He and his family arrive at the old, creepy castle with big arched ceilings and a creepy openness. They soon meet the police chief, with an artificial arm that he moves around just like Dr. Strangelove did. Igor shows up and meets with the doctor, played by Bella Lugosi, which was cool. He shows him the Monster, as played by Boris Karloff, who is weak and yet not dead (the monster, not Boris).
The monster has a more mythical nature here, as something that can't be destroyed, as Igor points out.
What will happen? Will the son of Frankenstein revitalize the monster so he can go out and cause more trouble again? Or will he pack his bags and quickl leave, ignoring Igor's advice? Check out this classic to find out.
Film is available here (public domain?)

I use a couple very brief movie clips in the review (I mean literally, they are a couple seconds long). Please UA-cam, go easy with the "copyright claim" - it's only used for the sake of review.

Gotta say, I'm more than happy that someone appreciates old films like these. I had an absolute blast with this movie in particular.
I'm not sure if you've reviewed this one already, but one I highly recommend is 1945's The Body Snatcher. Karloff and Lugosi's final film together (although Lugosi is wasted in a minor role). But it is definitely one of Karloff's best roles, trust me.

Thanks for the comments! Yes, I've got The Body Snatcher on my list to get to one of these days. I love those old Karloff films. Once I get off my latest crime noir kick I should check that one out!

You probably know this by now but the hunchback in the first film was named Fritz. This is Ygor’s first appearance.
Love your reviews. Not a lot of people review these old films. I appreciate anyone who does.

I've just had a great time watching these old films and learning about some of these legendary actors. The more I see, the more my list of films to watch continues to grow though! If you have any recommendations send them my way!

@@OldMovieRob I would definitely recommend Return of the Vampire and The Undying Monster, two 1940s horror movies from Columbia and Fox that have a similar vibe to the Universal pictures. Return also has Bela Lugosi in his second best vampire role.
