Yota, Plz believe me when I say I am not trying to dog on ya at all. I just confirmed from a Bill Rapier video on WPSN that even Bill shoots his pistols covering the front of the trigger guard. I've even done it on one of my videos (albeit on accident) and it seems to work ok. Bill does it tactically with his pistol combative grip.
I've somehow stumbled on your channel. Good stuff!

Jerry Miculek's daughter does too and she's a great shooter. Now put a weapon light on your handgun and you are having to use a grip you haven't been practicing with... Just because someone does it and shoots well , doesn't mean it's optimal. We have seen a lot of methods come and go that didn't make a whole lot of sense. For example over extended the support arm with a carbine and c clamp grip, everyone was doing that for years and then they realized it wasn't as helpful as they thought. Thanks for the comment but I stand by it being a bad habit.

I personally think you mean "bad technique", and not "bad habit"; of which I think you may have a better case to argue your point.
That said, practicing any particular technique can overcome shortcomings with time, irregardless of how unconventional said technique is.

And to give context to who I am referring to, Bill was DEVGRU. Not an armchair firearms philosopher like me. :)

I consider technique to be habitual so yea we are on the same page. Regardless of how good someone is at a particular technique or method, this does not defy physics and by in large is sub optimal for most people. My channel focuses more carrying and the practical use of firearms. That being said, I would strongly suggest a light on a carry gun which would conflict with a sub optimal technique like this. It doesn’t matter how fast he is if he can’t see what he’s shooting at.

@@yota_blaster5030 Agreed 100%. You cannot shoot what you do not confirm. Good words, Yota!
