    The LSXRT manifold makes more power everywhere in the rpm range compared to the TBSS do the increased runner length over the LSXR manifold.

      $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ too. I think the aftetrmarket manifold is better suited if you are going to continually upgrade the engine. If you are just doing daily driver, the SS intake should suffice.

      True but who has over 1k $$$to just drop on a intake? Rather use the tbss and put that 1k towards a better turbo which would make much more than another 40 hp like that overpriced fast does.

    I was going to do the tbss but i picked up a fast LSXrt with throttle body new in the box for $800 and almost knocked my wife over heading for the car. My question for you is i really want to use my factory fuel connection for now. Do you know the kit you got with the rails and the stock style connector? Info hard to come by on these. Great info new subscriber ✌️

    But $350 for tbss vs $1200 for the fast... On a 5.3 it's more like a 10-20hp diff tbss vs fast I've heard anyway..
    The 8707 has 226/238 duration .600 lift.
    I have the flex fuel injectors and walbro 255.
    Was dynod at 400whp and 400wtq..
    I agree the $1200 for the fast could be put towards a turbo cam and turbo manifold with crossover.

    There’s a simple reason why it makes more power , look how much taller the intake is, it give the intake longer and wider runners ..normally longer hurts the top end ,and shorter is used for top end power, but they figured out a way to get more top end and low end at the same time…I’ve never seen a comparison between having only wider runners just long and short, it would be cool to see a comparison when the only change is to the diameter of the runners ,as it will allow more air to flow up to a point until it starts to slow down…

    • @CoastalRacecraft
      @CoastalRacecraft  Рік тому

      For sure. Cubic inch and head flow will definitely play rolls on that. On a smaller motor Like this I don’t see there being much Hp variance.

    • @CoastalRacecraft
      @CoastalRacecraft  2 роки тому +1

      Correct the TBSS is more of a low rpm intake by design which hurts upper rpm performance. The Fast being opposite of that.

  • @the_chosen_one2831
    @the_chosen_one2831 Рік тому

    Basically, the tbss intake is more for low end and Fast Intake is for upper/boost setup?

    • @CoastalRacecraft
      @CoastalRacecraft  Рік тому +1

      For a budget build you won’t beat the TBSS intake. It’s a very good piece. The Fast offers some HP up top in exchange for some Hp down low. Same rules apply for boost but the Hp difference would be greater.

    It is sharp. But for a truck being used as a truck. Plus adding the price point. To me, you just can't beat the TBSS and if you start leaning towards more hot rod than truck, say a turbo or Is super charger. The TBSS 799 and only a 90mm can do 1000hp no problem. And on the street Having more torque and horsepower up to 4800. Means y the time the hi dollar starts to shine, the Scrimmage is over. But look wise, 🤤

      I would do a torque converter, a cam and springs, and a good tune. That’ll be a little more than $1500 (doing the labor yourself) but that will be your biggest bang for the buck there.

      The TBSS is definitely king in the OEM cathedral world. The FAST is targeted towards a performance application where you’ll see more benefit due to other supporting mods already in place like a good cam and exhaust. I would not recommend this be your first mod on a relatively stock vehicle. It’s two totally different segments.

    Can you port the tbss?

    • @CoastalRacecraft
      @CoastalRacecraft  2 роки тому

      You can mess with the ports some but since it’s glued together from the factory you would really have to cut it apart and glue it back together if you wanted to modify the whole thing. It’s a great intake and makes great power but It’s not worth trying to cut apart.

      @@CoastalRacecraft That's what I figured. I have long term plans of going boosted. Are there any other good forced induction intakes that aren't $1000+ ? Or will the tbss suffice in that application as well?

    • @CoastalRacecraft
      @CoastalRacecraft  2 роки тому

      The TBSS is a great stock intake. Intake choice really depends on where you want your power. Is it a street truck or do you care more about track ET?

      @@CoastalRacecraft it's actually in a Volvo 240 lol. With a ford 8.8 3.73 and spooled diff. And a RS5R30A Nissan built trans. (Similar ratio to t56 at less then half the cost and weight)
      It's a street/weekend drag car. Has the summit 8707 226/238 .600 lift 113 lsa cam so already makes power up top. And has pac 1219 springs, brt pushrods and trunion kit and headers with 3" SS catless. I have hptuners and have been able to make small adjustments. But po had it set on open loop as they dyno tuned it only then sold it. So needs a refined tune.

    I'd rather run the tbss intake that fast only gained around 30-40 HP compared to the tbss intake. call it 40 hp over the tbss intake at over 1000$. Nope not for me too rich for my blood. For that kinda money it needs to be at least a 100hp gain over the tbss intake.. Which wouldn't happen. Fast are great but stupid idiotic overpriced.
