A few years ago once we had a little male dove that was big but yet fell from its nest and the parents didn't went to help him, one of our cats, the little mommy, was the one who found him and actually cried to my mom to come and help her rescue that baby, we cared for him, fed him for a few days and helped him to gain more power, and then one day when we took him outside he flew on the ceiling and the next morning he flew away on his own even when we were still scared as for he was still young.
Fast forward a few months later, he came back to present us his mate and next year he presented us his babies and then went back to the home depot he decided was a nice spot for a nest for his family.

We also had a cardinal my daughter discovered cornered by a cat....it was just out of the egg. She got up every 2 hours at night to feed him at first. After he fledged, he learned to fly, brought back his mate and 3 generations of babies. One of his male offspring got used to us and comes back to the tree in the back and calls until we come out and call back. He has also presented his babies to us and teaches them in the back yard. It has been a fascination and rewarding journey

You did an awesome thing for that bird. My kids and I took one in just yesterday that had crashed into a glass window. It has not been able to fly away since so I'm not sure if it has an injury. It's holding both wings together and can run and jump just fine. Any suggestions? My local wildlife rehabber said it would probably get euthanized if it was too badly injured.

I just went through the same thing. Found a mounring dove on the edge of my property that couldn't stand up straight. Took him in, gave him food and water, hoped he would get through it, but he didn't. I've done a few tours abroad and worked as a medic for the past 10 years, I forgot what it was like to feel until I saw that poor bird struggling. I've since developed quite a soft spot for birds... come to find out, my grandmother was a member of the local Audubon society...something i never knew. Guess the apple doesn't fall far...

@@alhindalhind5435 I made a whole video on PMV (Paramyxovirus) and Twirling on my other channel but will not share the link here out of respect for this channel owner but it does explain how to deal with it correctly.I always treat them with Nystatin and Baytrill (Enroflaxin) for extended periods which good results but the real trick is to give the bird LOTS of space. Keep them out of small enclosures and clean them everyday. Wash your hands and clothes after handling the bird because other pets can catch it too such as rodents, reptiles and other birds. I studied PMV, it is what it is and that is an actual Virus and should always be treated as such. Viruses are viral and can spread easily so NEVER hoover an infected bird's cage. There is not a lot anyone can teach me about PMV.

I was riding my bike one evening when was about 14 or 15, and a dove just came falling out of the air right in front of my bike. It flopped around and then sat there with its wings spread out. Something had knocked it out of the air... So i went and picked up it and gently held it against my chest... It was stunned for about 10 or so minutes but i rode to a gas station, with it held against my chest. It seemed to enjoy the warmth and comfort... But a few minutes after arriving at the gas station it fully came to, so i held it out and it flew off... It didnt seem to have any injuries or difficulties flying. It was a heart melting experience. They're so soft and colorful... This one had orange-ish pink chest feathers

Very interesting. I have a mourning dove who seems to be in perfect health. Although, it's mate was recently killed. I discovered the feathers in the back yard. There are cats about, and so I am sure that's what happened. The dove sticks around. It eats, and drinks, and sometimes simply sits for hours in the water bath or the seed platform. It seems ok, but heartbroken. I've thought about creating it a shelter or next of some kind. Any thoughts?

I had two mourning doves, dumped on me just before a work shift. They didn't open their beaks like other birds had. I called Project Wildlife and the told me that they might need tube feeding, however I didn't have time to take them. In frustration, I covered their heads to force the beak open and their beaks flew open like magic! I realized that the mother must sit on them to feed them.

Devastating disease. You did all you could for it, I commend you. I had 4 diamond doves , one of them showed these symptoms. At the time I though it was because it crashed onto the wall of the back porch ( they were free flying there ). So I put them all back in the aviary. Within a few weeks all the others were blind. Only one exhibited the twisting neck movements, but the others innequivecaly went blind. I asked and asked and no one could help. They were still able to eat as they heard me dropping the food on their tray. Eventually I gave them away.

Currently have a Baby mourning dove that was found by front steps. Very small. No mother returned. Think it was orphaned, as my dogs were upset with chasing cats all night. The baby might have fell of the roof of the house construction next door. Wife was led to baby besides the steps by our Rottweiler early light, next morning. Looks like they kept him safe. We thought it was a sparrow at first. Hard to identify with growing feather all over. Plenty sparrows nesting at moment. But he wouldn't feed on traditional sparrow foods. Then realized this bird didnt respond to food dropped in but to putting its head into something like its mothers mouth. Soldier...not veterinarian, lol. So syringe and rubber glove tip it was... but only food we found he ate was papaya ground with ground seed in it. This multi grain cereal food is a godsend for us and the bird. It worked well and he is flourishing now. The Rotty sits and watches feed times...even barks at feed times to say its ready, and has a connection with the bird in some way. It is good to see a life saved for once. Your efforts wont go unrecognized.... Nor the doves life. It will now save many! THX!

Noted he is not cleaning himself so I bathed him in warm water and dried him off. I put him in a warm blanket. He likes to hide and stay warm.
Noted he is hurting himself in the process but walks around just fine but hides. What can you suggest for sores. He doesn't feel well and looks at me for help.

I just found a smallish mourning dove on my driveway 2 days ago... even though it didn't look like a fledgling but bc of its size, I looked for a nest (trees line my driveway) but did not find one. Since I have coyotes, foxes, I brought it in, and gave it unshelled (obviously unsalted, etc) sunflower seeds. I thought it had flown into a window and might just be stunned. Sadly, it didn't make it through the first night. 😭 Bc of my land, I've found many animals through the years & gotten them to state licensed rehabbers. Not always happy endings, which breaks my heart 😢 I've taken classes but never got certified, prob bc I don't know if I am a strong enough person to deal w/animal deaths on any regular basis....I did cure a fox on my property of a severe case of mange (he was almost hairless), have successfully helped a few birds, a possum, and have rescue cats (always kept inside) and dogs, but I so admire and respect people who rehab/help wildlife with any regularity! It is hard work. ♥️ Thank you for all you do. I wasn't even looking for this video, happened upon a video on FB, went to see your channel, saw this.

She refused to eat so forcing her beak open stressed her. then her feathers just started dropping off. She did not want to swallow the food either. I have had two situations like this and one of them currently. I have a small apartment pourch and I lay some seeds out and doves will get surprisingly close to me. Well 2 squabs with their parents would come to my patio and at first they were not into the seeds but wanted to be fed by their parent when they came around. Unfortunately one of the squabs looked like he had a wound on his forehead and his beak looked rough and not normal. Then his sibling and parents would attack her ( I think it was a her based on her neck) whenever she came close to her. She started not flying away or fighting back. They would brutally attack her and she just ducked her head and wouldn't fly away. Then I would see her lay on the ground for hours and barely moved when I touched her. I would feed her and shew away the other birds that would constantly attack her because I was feeding her. She eventually stayed on my patio all day and all night and she couldn't eat the seeds I was feeding her but eventually found she could eat crushed oats. The last 2 nights she spent the night hidden behind my patio furniture. I made arrangements the next day, since it was Saturday, to take her into a bird rescue. Unfortunately at midnight I checked on her on she died. It was sad because it was a sweet bird that eventually trusted me so much it would allow me to hold her.

We had a baby mourning dove, it fell out of its nest twice. So we were taking care of it. Around 3 am, it died. I was crying. It looked like it was panting, so it looked like it was dying.

At the end, I don't think the word you wanted to use was 'rehabilitate'. Obviously.

Did a great job. We can also try to feed with syringe to the little ones specially because they don't know how to eat other than natural way they eat
