Fucking cringey dude. Some people are just throwing money at amazon getting these tools and tacticool bugout EDC survival urban prep gear. Theyre just tools
Actually it does have a blade storage but you can only fit one blade. Flip open the blade and look closely inside on the right side of the handle. Also check out the packaging, it says it on the back!
Can confirm. My absolute favorite edc I’ve had. I do residential remodeling and it’s so insanely handy to have the screwdriver in the end. Full disclosure I abuse it and use it like a prybar and it holds up! I love the latch to keep the driver open.
I work in a Home Depot. I purchased this exact one he’s talking about before hand though. Anyways started carrying it day to day and it blew me away how many times I noticed it coming in handy. The screw driver saved my but a few times loading doors outside in the lot. Always being the first one with my knife out ready cut whatever the customer needs cut. It’s definitely my favorite spur of the moment just needed a knife and happened to get something really amazing in the end.
Because of this video, I am now a sub. I bought my first Milwaukee product that was a heated coat about 4 years ago now. Minus the wires breaking in the coat a few months ago, the product is amazing. I got my first big boy tools and they were Milwaukee. Just an impact with some extra batteries that can be used in my heated coat and vise versa. I have tons basic hand tools and they’re good, I’m not hard on my tools and you’d think the hand tools were brand new, even though they are over a decade old now. As the years go on I find myself looking at Milwaukee products more and more. They can be used during a blackout for lighting etc. Next year I hope to use them while camping. Thanks for the videos.
I've had one of these for years, I love it. I would never strip wire with it but I like the string cutter that you can use when it's closed. Would trade that screwdriver for a removable magnet level for pipe bending.
I love the 6-1 fastback. In the painting trade it is great for point up/masking phases. Being able to cut out protruding drywall, screw in "nail pops", unscrew cover plates, and cut plastic with one tool is great. I normally carried a utility knife and a screwdriver, it was very bulky and loud in my side pocket.
I work with a cardboard boxes all day and I’ve been through probably 20 utility knives over the past 30 years, Milwaukee is the best. I’ve been carrying the fastback before this one for the past 3 years and it works great.
I learned more about Milwaukee Fastbacks in this video than I ever knew. I just checked my Milwaukee blade knife and it's a Fastback. It must be an old first generation because it was different than the older model shown. Opens the same quick way though. Now I need to get the new one...
This is the only UA-cam video in the history of UA-cam videos that has spurred me to turn off my computer, get in my car, and drive to the store just because I wanted something so bad.
As a jack-of-all-trades type carpenter I really love the 5-blade storage of the current gen. 3 regular blades and 2 hook blades for roofing and I'm set for a build! As an edc off-site though this new generation will be fantastic. Slice a box, fix a kid's toy, open my laptop, strip a wire, adjust my bike, crack a beer. Amazing, way to go Big Red.
Carry one daily for work and love it. Make sure to check the torx screws that hold it together. Mine came loose and the driver fell off. Luckily I found the screw and bushings(which are copper not cheap plastic!) and got it back together. Actually took all the screws out and hit them with some blue loctite. So worth $20!
I do love the fastbacks. I own 3 and use them everyday. My only issue I have with the older ones is where the release is so I’m glad they moved it. For me I’d rather have blade storage than the screwdriver but the bottle opener is cool !
I own A Do It Best hardware store for 27 years and I have been using the Millwaukee fast back for 14 months. It is the best utility knife that I have ever used. I never leave home without it. Great informative video. Thank you.
I agree that this is possibly the most useful knife I've ever owned for daily real-world use. I don't think you can really compare it to a traditional multi-tool, but I don't need all the bells and whistles on a traditional multi-tool on a daily basis, either. This one checks all the important boxes. Sharp. Easy to "re-sharpen." Onboard storage for a spare blade (with two edges, to boot). Very safe. Phillips #2 driver. Slotted driver. Ability to use other driver bits. Strong. Secure lock. Good and very durable clip. Comfortable/good ergos. And great pricing. Everyone should own a few of these. 👍
You can store 1 Extra blade in the handle section. Look for a little razor blade icon and opposite of that icon is space for 1 blade to lock into the body close to the side.
I got my first Fastback for my birthday over a year ago from my kids. The oldest of my 4 boys was 12 and the youngest was 8. They went with their mom (my lovely wife) to get me a utility knife because they knew I used mine a lot. I did not even know the Fastback existed, but my boys had a whole list of criteria they were looking for. They looked at a whole bunch of utility knives and settled on the Fastback. I raised them well. I now know what I want for my next birthday.
I left mine out on the rain only the blade rusted after finding it 3 months after I lost it. I love mine. AND MY HUSBAND LIVES WITH HIS. we live em. Gonna have to sub now. Thanks ToolDude.
We also have a problem with the name lo lo Lowe's our sayin it I guess we go Lowe today. Lol we have a local builders supply we love Jerry's Home Improvement they motto is better head for Jerry's, but sometimes we have to sacrifice and go Lowe's lol little hardware humor there.
I like the mini fastback. Its more pocket friendly at work where I cut straps, cardboard, tape, and plastic wrap. For me the large fastbacks strap cutter notch catches on surfaces sometimes when I'm cutting. I would also love to see different color options for the fastback. It really is the best utility knife I've come across.
The BIGGEST thing I am sad to see they got rid of from the older version is the option to lock the blade at a 45 degree angle. It gave you so much leverage and comfort by not having to torque your wrist downward so far on hard cuts. The day mine finally wears out will be a sad day. Excellent review though!
Just got one as a gift from my step dad. I have $300+ knives which run from beater work tool steel knives to high grade steel limited run knives and to be honest this has came in more handy than any multi-tool I have owned. It's great! Plus anytime my edge dulls out I just swap the blade and we're back in action. Ergonomics are fantastic. I don't usually like utility knives. But this has everything I need. Lock up on the screw driver liner lock as well as the utility knife lockup is nice and tight. And it DOES have storage for a blade near the liner of the utility lock up..
LMAO I actually stolen 1 of these from my boyfriend and I love it. (of course he had more than one). I am getting this one too! Thanks. I LOVE THIS TOOL. Now I have two. One suggestion I have is I wish it had a small level.
Never knew how much I needed one until I bought one. I got the 2 pack from HD a couple of weeks ago for $15 and I LOVE the compact fastback. I hate having bulky things in my pocket and I don't even know it's in my pocket most of the time.
Lets just put it this way. I went into Home Depot looking for a Utility Knife. I'm a DeWalt fan so I went right over and checked out DeWalt. Then like any smart shopper, checked out the other brands. After comparing them all and checking out the price, Milwaukee was the clear winner. I bought the twin pack and I will buy another when the wife is checking out something else on our next visit.
Are you doing something for maintenance? After about 2 years of heavy use (warehouse work) my fastback has worn a "catch" on the bar thing that lets it open and close so it doesn't like to close unless you really mash on the button, and then to add insult to injury it sometimes opens slightly unintentionally on my pocket meaning I reach for a partially open knife. My coworkers all prefer slide out utility knives and most of them are 5+ years old, but I like the fastback for being outside my pocket rather than inside. On the shelf we switched to these new models a few months ago and by all means they just look like the same knife made out of plastic instead of metal, I don't really believe their longevity can possibly be better and I assume this guy has a sponsorship from milwaukee.
@@tech99070 i will admit, I since I'm mostly just in management now I don't use it as much as I used to. But I used to use it everyday for everything from drywall to opening boxes
It is the best knife ever. However I lost mine at work. I’m sure whoever found it loves it. So lucky me I need a new one. I foresee a trip to the Depot.
I'm a contractor and I've had the older Fastback for years and it's been my EDC (Every Day Carry) for as long as I've had it. Until I saw this video. I immediately started looking for it and had to buy it from Home Depot online because it sold out at all my local stores. Initially, I didn't like it because the spring clip was too tight for my jeans pocket. Then I widened the gap up a bit with a small pry bar and it's perfect. The knife opens far more easily than the older models, even though I never had problems with those. I do like the extra single blade storage. I've even used the screwdriver once; it's handy, but would be handier if regular 1"wire detent bits would lock in place; as it is now, you can still use them, but they bottom out and the 1/4" nut driver may get in the way if you're in a tight spot. However, the slotted and Phillips tips are what most people need most of the time, so it's not a major issue and those DO lock in place well with a wire detent on either side of the 1-1/4" bit. I've not used the bottle opener since I usually drink my snobby craft beer in cans; since it's always in my pocket I also don't use the lanyard attachment. I didn't think the older model needed any improvement, but this is my new EDC. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!
I love the fast back, been using them for years. I ran. Over one multiple times with a skids loader while doing grading after leaving it just in the track. Cleaned out the mud after I found it two weeks later and worked like a champ
To me the reason I love the release on the right side is I would always accidentally pull the blade out while using it to cut Sheetrock in tight corners
Milwaukee's website lists this: Milwaukee FASTBACK 6in1 Folding Utility Knife 48-22-1505 as having blade storage. A mess up on their part, or maybe I'm not reading the picture on their site correctly. Hmmm...
I just bought 2 of these today. You can store 1 extra blade in the handle. They even have a tiny picture of a blade on the handle to show where you put it in.
Bottles suck. Too heavy full or empty if you're realistically drinking with friends, no scrap value, they break, caps are a sharp mess which everyone flings around, etc. etc. Even worse, pussies who buy bottles then pour beer into another glass.
@@jonathanwright5550 Life starts at 6%! Ron Swanson said clear alcohol is for old rich women on diets, and I think that includes piss-yellow rice-beer. More to the point, anything with a hard edge is a bottle opener. Using a dedicated one just shows a lack of creativity.
When I ran the shop these are the only utility knives I would buy. The quality is very good and they are absolutely amazing to get out and get the job done quickly.
I never leave comments, but DAMN! you made me need this tool. As a newcoming (and middle ager) to my carpentry career (like 2 months ago), the one tool I seem to always have (and give to everyone) is a utility knife. Because of you...I am buying three right now! And yes, I'll subscribe. Thanks for keeping it real.
Me at the beginning of this video. I already have a craftsman spring loaded switchblade utility knife that’s been going strong for 3yrs now. Me after seeing the screwdriver, bottle opener & wire strippers on this. “Honey, where’s my keys, running to Home Depot real quick”
I bought the 2 pack on sale now at Home Depot. I'd been wanting one because they're easy to open and close one handed. I prefer Bosch and Kobalt power tools over Milwaukee. But I definitely like this knife over Kobalt's version.
This is hands down the best utility knife I've ever owned. With all of the upgrades (which are very cool), that extra blade storage, for me, is key. There's nothing worse than having to hunt around, or go back to the box, and get another blade. I hope that Milwaukee finds a way to add it back to this new, and very cool, utility knife! Great video, man!👊😎
I watched this video during a random UA-cam rabbit hole day. After watching it, all I asked my wife and kids for Christmas was this knife. Everyone that sees it, wants one. Can't believe how much the screw driver comes in handy. Thanks for making this video, it sold me.
i didnt know the version i had was the new version. i dont keep up on stuff like that. But i work maintenance in a machine shop and i do everything from drywall to electrical to fixing machines to breaking down boxes to running water and air lines, etc.. I use this knife probably 50 times a day, every day. This knife has been amazing.
I have one with blade storage and hate it, the part that holds extra blades rattles when you move, and is louder than something so small should be, I still use my old one and the new ones in the bottom of one of my tool bags
I deliver soda for a living and use the older version of the fastback. I use the tool as a safety cutter most often to open cases of soda and cut the plastic wrap. it beats the hell out of your traditional safety cutters because it has a clip, you can still use it as a knife, it locks closed for using it like a seat belt cutter, and most of all, the blades are replaceable when it's counterpart (safety cutter) doesn't allow for effective sharpening and results in buying a new tool each time it dulls. I try to get each trainee I have to buy one of these knives.
I have the original from years ago also. It's a beast and still works. More recently I replaced my $150 Spyderco Sage 5 with the $8 compact version for EDC and haven't looked back. My only wish would be a silver pocket clip, because the black looks beat up pretty quickly.
As an electrician. This thing is the bees knees. It has so many capabilities and uses. The 1/4 inch hex makes the possibilities endless. It’s strong and sturdy. It got my famous blue and green paint. It’s mine now. Too bad I can’t find anymore. So many people are asking me to get them some. Also I’ve had the original among many other utilities. The old fastback was great. My ex loves it. I don’t love that I gave it away.
I seriously went from loving games and shit to getting super excited when a new tool drops and wishing I could get one. I even went ballistic when my tool kit I got a bit ago showed up after I finished work and holy shit dad has never seen a smile so big over fucking tools🥲😫
I got a Fastback for Christmas. The version I got has extra blade storage but no bottle opener or screwdriver. Maybe an older version? Anyway, even without the opener and screwdriver, hands-down the best utility knife I've every owned/used. It is also great to read all the other comments from tradesmen talking about how they have been using their Fastbacks for years and are still happy with it. Hat tip to Milwaukee for saying "F*&$ this, we can do better!" and really innovating on a ubiquitous tool.
I've owned several fastbacks and I absolutely love it. Your right I will never own anything else. Milwaukee is no doubt in there own league. I love the upgrade. Just needs to hold a couple extra blades. Just 2 would be great.
Doing roofing both commercial and residential, all I use is my fast back. Best knife I’ve used. Weight, size, ease of use, screwdriver, and durability. Usually one thing you can count on is your button for blade release to fail, and it’s the least of my concerns with this knife!
HOW SMART IS THIS GUY. LISTEN: HE MADE A 8-MIN VIDEO ABOUT A BOX CUTTER AND IT HAS 1.6 MILLION VIEWS!! MADE LIKE 10 GRAND FROMA BOX CUTTER VIDEO...... BRAVO!!
Love the Fastbacks have several strategically placed around so all ways have one with in Reach Definitely going to get some of the New ones Also Great Christmas Gifts for your Brochatcho’s
Im an HVAC installer. I'm in attics and crawlspaces alot. This thing is great and holds up very nice, my ONLY (minor) compliant is the dual head screwdriver bit can get seized in there if it isn't oiled once in awhile, but that's basically all tools so it's no big deal.
Contractor here. Use it everday. I catch myself flipping it open and closed all the time though because it has a very satisfying click. Little bit more dangerous than the ol click pen lol.
Dude, I was at a job site un packing furniture from boxes, a few years ago...I didn't have a utility cutter. One of the foremen lent me his. Yeah, it was the Milwaukee Fastback! I was so impressed by that cutter. I kept myself busy, was always running around(keeping things in order, and being on top of anything that came up...). At the end of the day, I was sure to return that tool to the foreman... I went to him directly and handed it to him. He noticed how much I really liked it that he handed it back to me and said that I could have it! Man! Yeah! I was super jazzed! I have had that cutter on my side for a few years. I showed it off to everyone that I met... Then, last year, I was on a jobsite and im saw a young kid starting off in the trades... He was a good worker. On the last day, I walked up to him and gave him the Milwaukee Fastback. For the next few weeks, I sorely missed that knife. I'd curse and grimace everytime I had to unfold my other "lockblade utility cutter". No big deal, I purchased a new one.

You should look at their safety fastback. The blade automatically retracts when you aren’t squeezing out. It was my favorite when I was a box cutter.

There is a question and answer posted on Home depot. It shows how to store one extra blade in the knife. It even shows a picture of it being done.
Glad you posted this!
Can you elaborate on how you store a spare? I checked home depot reviews and found nothing
The customer posted picture shows there is a slight gap for the spare along the edge of the case when the blade is out.
I carry one all day every day. And being a carpenter it gets a lot of use.
Awesome, thanks for the feedback Kent👊

I've had to buy probly 8 of them, there so good my knifes the only one never gets returned thats how good they are. I've bought 9.
To me the reason I love the release on the right side is I would always accidentally pull the blade out while using it to cut Sheetrock in tight corners
I found one when I was in grade 8 outside on a field, kept it, and now 7 years later I'm now using it every day and I love it.
Service plumber here I use this fastback every day never had a problem with it once. It just gets shit done love it
Just brought one, and I love it, don't leave home without it
Milwaukee's website lists this:
Milwaukee
FASTBACK 6in1 Folding Utility Knife 48-22-1505
as having blade storage. A mess up on their part, or maybe I'm not reading the picture on their site correctly. Hmmm...
I just looked on the listing at Home Depot, they definitely show one blade stored in the handle.
I just bought 2 of these today. You can store 1 extra blade in the handle. They even have a tiny picture of a blade on the handle to show where you put it in.
Joke is on you , budlight has a twist off cap 🤣🤣
Like dad said, cant get drunk off of lite beer
Was thinking the same thing lol
Bottles suck. Too heavy full or empty if you're realistically drinking with friends, no scrap value, they break, caps are a sharp mess which everyone flings around, etc. etc. Even worse, pussies who buy bottles then pour beer into another glass.
@@TheLjdevlin86 lite in carbs not lite on alcohol
Thanks for the awesome comment Kristen, and welcome to the channel!!!!
Me at the beginning of this video. I already have a craftsman spring loaded switchblade utility knife that’s been going strong for 3yrs now. Me after seeing the screwdriver, bottle opener & wire strippers on this. “Honey, where’s my keys, running to Home Depot real quick”
Hahahaha🤣🤣🤣
Sucks...in canada, Ontario. Today feb10/21...
can’t go walk in the store to buy🤷🏻♂️. Have to buy online...wait in the parking lot...🤦🏻♂️ cheers 🍻
.
Great video, man!👊😎
I was looking at this on the home depot site and it says it has storage for 1 extra blade. This guy just missed it.
I noticed that as well...blade storage is on back end of handle
My dad got me this to cut bale tape and I didn’t think much of it but this guy made me appreciate such a simple tool
I watched this video during a random UA-cam rabbit hole day. After watching it, all I asked my wife and kids for Christmas was this knife. Everyone that sees it, wants one. Can't believe how much the screw driver comes in handy. Thanks for making this video, it sold me.
This does have a extra blade storage, if you look really close on the outside you’ll fine a small blade icon near where it goes.
I was just looking at mind and it does have it!
Ok but how is it used?
I do love my current fastback, but now I'm fighting the sirens call to the orange box to grab a 6 in 1 version.
Saw this and now it’s my number one choice for Christmas
i didnt know the version i had was the new version. i dont keep up on stuff like that. But i work maintenance in a machine shop and i do everything from drywall to electrical to fixing machines to breaking down boxes to running water and air lines, etc.. I use this knife probably 50 times a day, every day. This knife has been amazing.
The way you explain about the tool it is beyond praise. I love it
New version needs blade storage like the Fastback II.
I have one with blade storage and hate it, the part that holds extra blades rattles when you move, and is louder than something so small should be, I still use my old one and the new ones in the bottom of one of my tool bags
This one does have blade storage go to Home Depot website
@@christechguy dont believe it does, multiple reviews saying otherwise.. lost to make it thinner
@@plankshield oh your right.
@@plankshield it does, but its a single blade
The origional, with blade storage, is my favorite daily carry knife. If they add blade storage to this model, I will aquire a new favorite knife...
It’s a shame that they got rid of the extra blade pocket.
This one does have extra blade storage. He just missed that feature.
Oh man, just bought a fiskars 'pro' folding knife a couple days ago. But I like this one better, might have to make a depot run in the near future.
It's a must have. Once you get one, you'll never use anything else. I love mine so much I went and bought a 2nd one.
Mine clip on my fastback was black it is now silver
That “Real Naaaaaassssss like” hit so awesomely. 🤣
I didn't realize I needed this tool... Now I do.
all my cordless tools are milwaukee but my hand tools are all Kline but that is true to my trade (electrician)
I’m a lineman and we get issued dewalt and Klein
I have the older fastback. I don't like the wire stripper when the blade is folded in. Klein has specific tools, and Milwaukee is more general tools.
I love my fastback. Mine is the slimmer design, but doesn't have the screwdriver. Guess it's time to upgrade!
The new milwaukee exacto knife actually have a single extra blade holder
I feel naked when I forget mine at home.
If I forget a knife I either get one out center console of vehicle or buy a new one. Never go with out a knife.
Definitely the older version, but still an amazing knife 👊👊👊
I've owned several fastbacks and I absolutely love it. Your right I will never own anything else. Milwaukee is no doubt in there own league. I love the upgrade. Just needs to hold a couple extra blades. Just 2 would be great.
I’m more interested in that les Paul and Marshall
Nice 5150 too
Great eye👊
I'll stick to my Stanley for production carpentry. Still faster than a fastback and slides into my tool bags better. Imo
Mountain dew can be opened with the pointy end. Just slice on the neck, below the cap ridge. Bam! 7 in 1 tool.
BRAVO!!
🤣🤣👊
Love the Fastbacks have several strategically placed around so all ways have one with in Reach Definitely going to get some of the New ones Also Great Christmas Gifts for your Brochatcho’s
I've dropped mine 20 feet onto concrete with no destruction. The first model.
I still have the old milwaukee fastback with the serrated Tanto blade
Im an HVAC installer. I'm in attics and crawlspaces alot. This thing is great and holds up very nice, my ONLY (minor) compliant is the dual head screwdriver bit can get seized in there if it isn't oiled once in awhile, but that's basically all tools so it's no big deal.
Contractor here. Use it everday. I catch myself flipping it open and closed all the time though because it has a very satisfying click. Little bit more dangerous than the ol click pen lol.
they are really nice knifes. would like a flash light on one.
milwaukee tactical lmao

Dude, I was not aware of this utility knife at all. Thanks for the heads up..!
They could put in a leveler bubble even with places to put a string through to level a string or whatever :P
The fact they include the multi tip screw driver socket is the game changer - I need one now.
Add a simple LED. Perfection in your pocket.
Imagine if he gets his hands on a Leatherman multi-tool
show me a leatherman with a decent blade on it though
@@owenbalzer6582 check out the SOG multitool pliers. I like it way better than a Leatherman, and they have great knives on them. The power assist ones are the best imo.

@Principatus I carry a set of oht's and been using em daily for years now
Perfect stocking stuffer for myself. Out of stock, so Im a new sub.
I love my fastback but mine doesn't have the other tools I might have to get one of those
Dudes personality in the first 4 seconds is enough to sub 🙏🏽much love
Hahaha, you are awesome Noah. Welcome to the channel brother 👊
I tried it and I’m totally amazed by how great it works I’m always mad when I forget it at home.
Hahaha 👊👊
I have a gen 1 and the blade pops loose when scoring sheet rock.
Same here but with cardboard
I would really like it if the blade didn't come out when regularly used.
I see um not the only one who Hope's that they fixed the "blade problem"!
Me too
Exactly. Worst knife I ever bought.
I have a kobalt that does that, too
Get a husky knife, I bought 2 of them 3 years ago, blade has 2 separate mechanisms to release and change, they were like $4 a piece
DIFFENENTLY a COOL TOOL, I WILL BE GETTING ONE.
I always thought the 'bottle opener' is a paint can opener... but I guess it works for that too. 🤔
