My favorite watch of all time! Mine stays within 1 second over 2 months. I’m not exaggerating! The 1st scratch hurts the most but now it just looks cooler with scratches everywhere.
I wear this watch all over the place and it actually barely gets noticed. There are so many other copies out there, it almost camouflages itself. When I first got the watch, I was so careful to hide it, but slowly I started wearing it out more and I found that people just don’t notice it like I thought they would. So I wear it out all the time now with no worries pretty much.
Great advice Bruce - nothing will scratch the itch of wanting a Sub, I’ve tried it. This watch gets a lot of hate for various reasons that I can’t relate to but it’s a truly phenomenal watch and unless you’ve owned one I don’t think you can really comment on how good (or not) you think it is.
Ive got a few Rolex's and had speedmasters, Seamasters etc. I must say that the Submariner (this reference) is my favourite. It looks so crisp, clean and it wears so comfortably. I feel relaxed wearing it with the all brushed bracelet and clasp. The PCLs on other models scratch like crazy and the jubilee is like a light show off the wrist (although lovely). The Sub is the best for me, its just the right amount of everything

I have a 2021 124060 but I swapped out the black bezel with a blue ceramic bezel. It's gorgeous and it gives it a little something extra in appearance. Since it doesn't have the polished center links or date nobody has mistaken it for the white gold. I wear it about half the week and wear a 2006 Daytona the other half. In my humble opinion they are the most comfortable pair of watches to ever come out the Rolex factory.
It's a nice watch but I find the Tudor monochrome better looking. I prefer it to the Rolex because to me it's looks more like the original Sub I've grown to love. I guess I prefer vintage looking stuff. And, it happens to cost a lot less, so it's a win-win. Thanks for the comparison video. ☺

A great watch for sure! This is one of my favorite watches that I will likely never sell. As you said, probably the most well known Rolex of all time along with the Daytona.I bought a Submariner about 30 years ago, paid about $3k for it, wore it all those years and sold it for $9k in 2021 and then bought the new 41 at retail. That worked out well for me as an investment!

I own this Sub and a 116710 black GMT. Although they look similar but there are quite a lot of differences if you look closely. On the wrist the GMT wears even easier even though the gmt is marginally thicker but because Rolex made the Sub case thinner than the GMT with a more protruding caseback. Nice vid! I bought a Sub Date in 1988 when you could walk into an AD and walk out with the watch you wanted at MSRP. I paid about $1200 for it - which was expensive, but not crazy. It was my go anywhere, do anything watch and almost never left my wrist. I went to Jamaica in 1990 and wore it SCUBA diving during the day and under the sleeve of my tux when I got married later the same day. Twenty years later, when I realized what it had become worth, I sold it for almost $10,000!!! I now wear a Steinhart homage and love it! It IS an iconic look - but I think the current Rolex prices and games are ridiculous. My Steinhart makes me perfectly happy.
Wow, in today’s money adjusted for inflation they should be $3200, yet they are 10k+. I have same steinheart homage, but yet it’s not scratching the itch. Anytime I convince myself I should do it, I also convince myself to buy more growth stock. Maybe some day emotional side of me will win.
I see a lot of people are complaining that the price is too high. How is it overpriced if it's actually manufactured in Switzerland and in house? How is it overpriced if it's worth more when you walk out of the store than it is in the window? The vast majority of "Swiss made" watches are manufactured in China by suppliers nobody has heard of. On the other hand, Rolex is manufactured in Switzerland, by Rolex. You're getting exactly what you're paying for. Why complain about the price, out of all the things? Rolex is probably the cheapest watch that is actually manufactured in Switzerland. Remember you only have Patek, Vacheron and independents that also do their own manufacturing. Rolex is affordable in comparison. All the other "Swiss" brands have their watches manufactured by third parties overseas and they only do the assembly, inspections and testing.

The current Submariner is hands down the best sports watch in the world. That may change when they fix the GMTMaster's Supercase and lack of Glidelock clasp next year...
Why would you be better off investing in an index fund vs getting an instant 20% return on your money? That’s silly reasoning. I agree with the reasoning of getting the flippers out though.
Funnily enough, MAMACOO's replicas are perfect for people who can actually afford a luxury watch. Because in those social circles, it wouldn't matter and everybody would just assume it's real. You have a yacht and a beach house in Tuscany, of course that replica is real. There isn't a millionaire out there going around with a jeweller's loupe to scrutinize their acquaintance's watch. They'll just go "Oh is that a Patek? Nice, I should really get my hands on one of those, they look great."
You started with that watch laying on a picture of the great wave. It will come as no surprise to learn that the Japanese have made better dive watches that that. 👍
I've owned a Rolex Submariner 14060m since 2003 and it still gives me a little wow factor when I wear it. Just love the resemblance to the 5513s and it's still running +1 a day. Rolex really knows how to build them
My 2020 114060 Sub is my GADA watch. After more than 4 yrs I'm still absolutely smitten by it. It's been Scuba diving, snorkling, hiking to the tops of mountains and in deep caves. Jumping off jungle water falls, ziplining in hawaii, swimming with sharks and Manta Rays. It was present at the birth of 2 of my children. I lift weights with it, shoot guns with it, do yardwork with it. It's all scratched up. Had to replace the lume pip and scratched sapphire crystal. I wear it like it's meant to be worn. A tool watch that can handle anything. But then look nice dressed up in a suit or at the office. It's my one and only. My exit watch. Sold everything but a g shock and seiko turtle to fund it. So worth it. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. It will continue to adventure with me and one day be passed down to my children.
One of the greatest watches ever made. I wear mine at least 3-4 times a week. I have many watches and many more expensive watches, but this is an often wearer along with my 36mm 1989 18238 day date. Just amazing watches to wear.
The reliability issues with the 32xx movements take pretty much all Rolex sport models out of contention at the moment. Design-wise, the hands on the Sub are too thin compared to the oversized indexes on this watch (compared to past iterations), along with most of the sport models. The Explorer II is the only Rolex sport watch where than hands are bold enough to look proportional with the larger indexes. Really wish they would clean both of these issues up, particularly the movement reliability. The movements should be bulletproof at this price point.
Most mass produced movements are like that, issues like a drop in amplitude or an issue with the date change. That’s why a 5 year warranty is important
@ Read the huge thread on the Rolex forum. Owners with prior movements say those watches are still performing great. The 32xx movements have a longer power reserve, but after break in consistently lose time at a much higher pace. And even after being repaired by Rolex, the problem seems to come back. So it seems to be a problem with the 32xx design.
False statement. I have owned my Submariner 124060 with then caliber 3200, bought brand new, since late 2021 and have had ZERO issues with amplitude, precision and daily accuracy. I wear this watch the most of out of my other pieces and the accuracy has been extremely consistent at 0.7-1 seconds per day. My other Rolex, a Milgauss Z-Blue bought new in 2017 with the old 3100 movement hasn’t been as precise as the 3200 in the Sub.
@ There are a large number of frustrated owners in a lengthy thread on the Rolex forum that would disagree that it is a false statement. Don’t shoot the messenger!
@ The caliber 32xx was released 10 years ago (2015) and since then it has been ported to all Rolex product lines. Yes the early movements in the day/dates had a lot of reported problems and even early 2018 GMT iis had issues. The Cal 3230 in the 124060 Submariner no date came out in 2020. My watch was manufactured in 2021 (6 years after the 32xx debut) and has been flawless. I have had more issues with the cal 3130 in my 2017 Milgauss Z-Blue (generally tends to lose adjustment and go outside of the promised -/+ 2 seconds a day). None of that has been an issue with my 2021 Sub no date. I am providing a different perspective and suspect there are many more satisfied 32xx owners that don’t necessarily post or provide updates back in the Rolex forums.
Is the modern Submariner the most hated luxury watch of all time? I personally love it. There is an obvious reason why it is copied so much by other brands and replicated.
I know, right? A lot of collectors are salty on the brand. Hasn't impacted Rolexes bottom line at all. They sell mostly to just wealthy people who don't watch UA-cam reviews haha
I use mine daily, its a great watch. It is very comfortable, the only thing I would change is the bracelet. The GMT on jubilee is even better but then you miss the glidelock.
I bought this watch for my 50th Birthday. I am a long time diver and have been wearing it on dives and surface intervals for the last 5 years. It is the most comfortable, wearable, loveable watch I have ever owned. And, divers don’t need to know the date! If you are considering one, I can’t recommend it more enthusiastically. The King of watches.
I’m a limo driver in one of the highest crime cities in America and I wear my submariner date, every day. it’s been on my wrist for the past two years and I’ve never even had anybody look at it.

That's not true. You're just repeating the comments that you keep reading on youtube. Go to your local AD, get on the list, and you'll get the call. I've never met anyone who wanted a Submariner but couldn't get it from an AD.
@@kresimirpleic guess what, I went not to one but four different AD in my state. Waiting for over a year for a different model, not nearly as sought after as the Sub.
The price from Retail compared to the second market is not that much, if you don’t have problem in spend a little extra and have the watch RIGHT NOW, that’s the way to get it
Love the design, and it's an obvious classic. My issue is MSRP, for $10,000, you just get a simple tool diver with a long power reserve but unexceptional movement. What on earth are you being 10 grand for? Pretty much just the name on the dial.
I think the sweet spot is to buy a watch you’re proud to wear but not afraid to scratch.

I love that you're shooting this wearing what I am while watching. The Mk3 on 5 link belongs in a collection *with* a Sub, not just instead of it.
I agree with you 👊
Is the modern Submariner the most hated luxury watch of all time? I personally love it. There is an obvious reason why it is copied so much by other brands and replicated.
I know, right? A lot of collectors are salty on the brand. Hasn't impacted Rolexes bottom line at all. They sell mostly to just wealthy people who don't watch UA-cam reviews haha
The Submariner 124060 is absolute dive watch perfection and a grail of mine , will be buying one by the end of the decade !
Rolex is coming down... not an investment, especially not now. It is a lifetime purchase that should be handed down to the next generation.
At 56 I am not sure I have purchased anything where I have thought about the resale value. As always fun video Bruce.
As our friend Sporty would like to say “God himself wears a 124060”
Beautiful but the lugs are too big.
This or Tudor Monochrome 😂
It’s also quite boring. Yes it’s an icon, but that doesn’t change its appearance.
This watch (124060) was not around 5 years ago. I'm thinking you have the 114060? Either way, they're both lovely watches.
@ you are correct…I have the 114060…my mistake
The 5513 is the most beautiful sub .....
Can't argue with the Sub!
I’m a limo driver in one of the highest crime cities in America and I wear my submariner date, every day. it’s been on my wrist for the past two years and I’ve never even had anybody look at it.
Love to hear it
i own the 114060 but frankly i put on my seamaster heritage 300 a lot more.
That’s because you have the wrong Sub, with the big, ugly lugs.
@@Anonymouslyme1 i didnt even know the difference, but no its because i prefer omega overall as a brand. rolex has so much snobbery attached to it, both from fans and the ad.
Ill buy it from you
@@michaelriera6277 ive had it for a long time and its not exactly pristine, but im sure we can figure out a price, you in europe?
Check out EVEREST watch bands .. they are made to fit .. they are rubber . Different look .. not to mention I still have a brand new oyster band
I've been on the list for this no date sub for over a year......
Liked the video and agree that you do not invest in Rolex! Other question, any thinks a SeaDweller will scratch the Submariner itch?
The only thing that this watch doesn’t have it’s availability! 😅
Why use the word 'honest' in your title?
To get more clicks
most boring watch of all time - but a classic nonetheless.
@@chrono1g most copied!
Stop telling the truth lol
Bad UA-camr 😂
Interesting about crown feel. I look forward to finding out for myself, but current experience is that Sea-Dwellers/Deepsea beat Seamaster PO/Ultra Deep hands down
I have a sub date and love my watch. From the office to yard work it gets worn everyday.
Perfect
That's definitely one of the best watches you CAN'T get. You have three options: 1. Wait forever and loose your time instead of enjoying the watch and making memories. 2. Get ripped off by a flipper. 3. Move on to a different brand and enjoy your beautiful, brand new watch.
The price from Retail compared to the second market is not that much, if you don’t have problem in spend a little extra and have the watch RIGHT NOW, that’s the way to get it
Very nice watch indeed, but I prefer my P39.
100 meters = 328 feet, not 330 feet. These watches are manufactured for less than a grand. Dying brand in 2024. I still own 7.
first
For me it’s one of the coolest but at the same time also one of the most boring watches
Love the design, and it's an obvious classic. My issue is MSRP, for $10,000, you just get a simple tool diver with a long power reserve but unexceptional movement. What on earth are you being 10 grand for? Pretty much just the name on the dial.
I know what you mean but it’s still worth 10 grand in 5 years time
You don’t get it. Buh bye🤡
You must have run out of stuff to talk about, the last thing anyone cares about is a Bruce Williams review of a boring Submariner
Yet here you are. Thanks for the click and the comment
I lasted about 8 seconds, glad I could help. You are much better with out the other dufus
