Nice job, this is definitely cool.. the most underrated mod for the chevy colorado/canyon, out of all truck mods colorado related this best one in my opinion, thank you for making and sharing your video👍🏻
Seeing how we all slide stuff across the tailgate the box lid isn't going to stay all pretty not to mention when reselling that box may not be wanted. Would like to see what all you'd put in there and what about the weight factor. It's cool but will have a very specific market imo.
Watch til the very end of the video. I load the box up with stuff. I’m not worried about it getting scuffed up. It’s a truck. I might get the lid sprayed with Line-X if it ends up looking bad down the road. And I’m definitely not worried about resale. If the next buyer decides they don’t want it they can buy a new tailgate. Thanks for watching.
@@fondupot $795, dampeners, time to install, ruin tailgate all for what you put in there you could put on the backseat floor but I guess if you like it.

Thank you for this in depth video!!! It was very helpful for my install and the bed turned out great!!! However 7/32nd screws were too big for mine I recommended starting with a smaller gauge and working your way up idk if it was just mine but only thing. Otherwise awesome awesome video and product thanks!!!
Good question. I didn't show it in the video, but a few days later I bought some foam weather stripping and installed it along the lid so that when it seals it keeps water out. The truck normally has a bed cover on it, but once in a while I will have the cover off. So now with the weather stripping its nice and water tight. Drove in a downpour the other day with the cover off, and when I got home I checked the storage box and it was dry as a bone inside. This is the weather stripping I installed: amzn.to/3UB3l9z
My thoughts as well, curious if any water leaks since we would store gear, tools, etc. I agree a bed cover might help, but would like to see a long term review visit to see how it's holding up. Also on the other note about the lid not being spray-lined, I think that should've been there to begin with.
@@r0bv123 The paint on the box is quite thick, but I disagree that it should be spray lined from the start. It would just run the cost up even more. I think adding bed-liner after it becomes too scuffed is a better solution. I have a bed cover on my truck, so I am not even worried about the water intrusion, but I'm not going to test that. Because there would definitely be water intrusion without a cover. A gasket along the lid interior might help. But I think the market this is geared towards will know how to make it work for them.
Great video showing off an awesome product! I am going to order one through the link you provided. Unfortunately, it says your coupon code is not valid. Today is 3/8/23, so this is before it expires. Any help? Thanks!
Place the order and send them an email and Huracan will refund you a credit for the difference. Been a few issues with the coupon code. They’ve had to do that for a few other people. Hope that helps!
Interesting concept. Definitely a bunch of cutting on the tailgate. Wouldn’t want to put anything too heavy in there. Wonder what you will think of it after you have had it for a while. How much does it weigh?
Hi! Do you think it's a good idea to keep an AR-15 there? Or is it a bad idea because my rifle could be damaged if my truck will be rear-ended by another car?
I don't know how I would feel about cutting up my tailgate, they're not exactly cheap to replace if i ever want to get rid of the cubby. Also that just seems a little big, too much space for hitches and ratchets to move around and make noise, that's what mine would be used for
Fair enough. People add pull-n-pluck foam to their boxes to make the contents not mover around. I haven't noticed any additional rattling or noise from the contents I have in it.
I wish folks would leave the manic music out. I'd much rather just hear the tools. Nice box, though! Looks like a good storage compartment for firearms.👍🏻
Yea all of has our own likes and dislikes but this is not a mod I'm interested in. I say this because I'm more interested in having a strong tailgate for loading and unloading. Seems to me cutting out all you cut out sort of weakens the tailgate. Also, is that box even waterproof? The only legit use I might have for something like this is when I'm carrying a rifle but in that case I already have mounts on the backs of my front seats. Some people might be interested I'm sure.
Valid points. For clarity’s sake: I’ve used the tailgate extensively since installing, and have no reason to believe it’s any weaker than it was originally. The structure of the box actually adds strength IMHO. I’ve Loaded and unloaded many bags of 80lb sakrete, wood, and other misc stuff. I’ve even stood directly on the cover and it’s still totally fine. I added a gasket around the lid to help with water intrusion. I store all my misc truck stuff in here. Thanks for watching.

Make sure you check the forums on ColoradoFans.com. There’s a group buy thread. Thanks for watching as always!
Great job! Your video was very well done! I will be doing this shortly to mine because of your video!
Right on. Thanks for watching. Good luck on your install!
Great install video thanks for sharing. Looks like a great addition to the Colorado... just not sure I could do the cutting.
Same! I love the idea, just not ready to cut up my truck.
Excellent video!!
Thanks. Definitely not for the faint of heart. But I’m pleased with the outcome.
It was nerve racking. But then it was awesome.
Glad I just found you, great channel!

Its not too bad an install. A little tricky getting the tailgate cut out, but yea the end result is pretty cool!

Great install. Any problem with water penetration?
Haven’t had any. But I also have a bed cover. Also I ordered a piece of rubber weather stripping and added it to the lid. So it seals up well now.
Did your coupon code expire already? Have had one of these on my mind for a year and that 10% may just push me enough to go for it.

Luv the concept, but don't have the balls to do it myself 😉 Very detailed video, nice job brother!
You can do it! Thanks haha
question, how sturdy is it to stand/sit on? will it sink in with a persons weight?
The manufacturer tells me the lid can support around 350 lbs of direct weight.
You did it! (Reference Coloradofans lol)
Sure did!
Is it waterproof?
I added a gasket on the lid. Seems to do the trick. 👍🏻

@@fondupot Thanks a lot.
Thanks for the video. Would a 2 piece rod and reel fit in it?
Possibly. But I am not 100% sure.
Is there a seal on the to keep water out?
No. But I added one. Seals it well.
Can the pop n lock still be reinstalled after? Great detailed video btw!
Good question. I’m not 100% sure. I have an OEM locking mechanism that fit just fine.
Is the waterproof? Just wondering if any water gets in there.
I’m gonna venture to say no. But I run a bedcover and it should stay dry no problem. Not an issue for me.

It’s adds 45 lbs. it’s perfect for recovery equipment. Tow straps and the like.
Does the lid seal shut? If it rains, or go through a car wash, will the water find its way into the new box?
I have a bed cover. And I put a weather strip seal on the lid to keep water out.
Hi! Do you think it's a good idea to keep an AR-15 there?
Or is it a bad idea because my rifle could be damaged if my truck will be rear-ended by another car?
That’s a risk you’ll have to weigh on yourself.
Add a pair of QuickFists to secure the rifle, works great.
How deep is this thing
Approx 4" or 5"

Giddy up.
store items and create rattles.
Ok 👍🏻
Wouldn't need that if was a 6ft bed
Not really relevant...You can still install this on a truck with the longer bed. It's not really about bed length...its about additional storage.
