I love how healthy this interaction is. Admiration, concern, but no critical levels of possessiveness. I love that both get a chance to voice their concerns and that ultimately it is Claire’s decision what she wears. It’s perfect.

Lol…popping out? It was the style back then to have a corset that would “tightly” hold women’s breasts as such, which did indeed make them appear to be “popping out.”
I bursted out laughing at Jamie’s reaction. I think it ease my nerves because I was expecting him to say something to make me swoon. Something romantic and when he didn’t it just felt way better bc I was finally able to breathe. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

One of my fav outlander scenes. By this point in the story, Jamie knows better than to kick up too much of a fuss...lol...and I know Sam the man got a big kick out of being able to deliver a parody of the infamous JAWS line, "you're gonna need a bigger boat"...:-)
The best Season by far and all her costumes were absolutely amazing! I miss those seasons. It's lost so much since mid Season 3 😕
I don't know who designed the wardrobes for this tv series but they were brilliant.

You guys are looking at the skirt with 21st century eyes. lol That was the style back then. Just be incredibly thankful you don't have to wear a similar style skirt nowadays with the additional torture of having to wear a tight corset day in and day out.
I didn’t notice the length before. I just wonder if that’s made to be accurate to the time. It does seem more practical for not getting the hem dirty. My question was more if any dress at the time was so simple, being just one color. All the other dresses are more ornate and have multiple colors.
That was the style at that time in France. Of course we of the "the less we wear..." time period wouldn't like it.

I totally hated that dress. A woman from 1945 would never have thought of wearing it, and no man in the 1700s would've approved. It was so out of character of both of their times. If the story had been of a woman travelling from 2015 to 1745 I would've said OK. But it was just the product of the 21st century filmmakers' male fantasy. One of the worst mistakes the film makers made in the series.
I thought France was pretty wild tho. Might not be the big leap you think it is.
The French court at the time was actually quite wild. Shorter skirts and extremely revealing necklines were all part of some of the fashion statements by the aristocracy at the time. This was part of Claire embracing that part of life in France. Indeed, the only purely modern element was it being a single color and not heavily embroidered.
She looks so ridiculous.
I love red but the color is too loud on her and that neckline is too much. I think it's tacky and trying too hard. 🤷🏻♀️
