For me it falls flat when Jamie explicitly declares to viewers that he is in love with Claire. It's cringy. And utterly unnecessary. There was a reason for it. This was the first episode of the second part of season 1, which the producers and writers wanted narration from Jamie’s perspective. The episode began this way. And also picked up from his perspective in rescuing Claire from BJR (entering through the window etc). It makes better sense with the beginning narration.

I feel like the people condemning Claire are oversimplifying her situation. I can understand how, from Jamie's perspective, she was wrong, but from her POV, she had just almost been raped and finally saw an opportunity to get back to her time period and took it. She's not wrong for trying to go home.
In the books, I really got sick of Claire's arrogance. She was constantly putting others in trouble because she thought she knew so much. She may have been savvy in the 1940's but not in Jamie's time. Then, she was dangerously and foolishly arrogant.
Whoosh….straight over your head. Claire ‘was’ a woman of her time, it wouldn’t have made any sense if she completely changed her personality & become some submissive housewife, & beyond boring as well, and there wouldn’t have been a story either. And Jaime loved Claire because she was different to the women from his time, that’s the whole point.
Why is it not listening? Like she said, he is not her boss. She isn't supposed to just passively listen and obey, she has her own mind about things. I love the Outlander book series!!! The only characters I like is Jamie, Young Ian, Marsali, Lord John and Murtagh. I don’t like Claire even in her older age or Brianna or Roger Lol I can go on. But Claire is annoying, even as she gets older but Jamie loves her so🤷🏽♀️
I’m a woman but I stopped watching this show because of how much annoying and stubborn Claire was. I know they need to create drama to keep the show going but letting her playing feminist all the time refusing to listen to her husband and putting both of them in danger was infuriating. After he got raped because she refused to obey his commands and stay put I started to feel discussed by her character. She sucks 🤮
Would you also describe a man who thinks independently and does what he wants without consulting others as stubborn? Or would you call him decisive and assertive? I sense a double standard from you regarding the same behaviours from men and women...
It wasn't her fault that he got raped. He went off with the Watch and was captured. Randal wanted Jamie from the moment he saw him. He tried to have his way with him the first time Randal took him. Claire was at Lallybrock waiting for him to come back.
@@leoniep9231 Yes, I would if the book was written in the sense that Jaime was in a matriarchal society and was expected to obey Claire. For me, this isn't about feminism. This is about Claire being stupidly stubborn. Should she have to obey him? No. Were their expectations about men and women fucked up? Of course. However, she knows what this society is like and what's expected of her. This doesn't just affect her; it affects Jaime and his relationship with his men as well. They had to risk their lives to rescue her all because she was trying to get back to the stone. She should have stayed put. Of all people, she knows that the English are everywhere. If she had to marry Jaime for protection, talking a walk alone as a woman was peak stupidity.
Men at least have the sense to know what environment they are in and adapt. Claire was just annoying after years of refusing to recognize she is in 18th century Scotland and has put Jamie and too many in danger with her attitude and outbursts of feminism which is rooted in lack of accountability and selfishness.

@@senluke no shit, but your wording implies 1. She was 100% wrong. 2. That his anger was justified, when he was the one to insist she stayed in the woods with the young guy after previous incidents exposed that the highlands weren't safe even alone with just him. Her "guard" walked off to take a crap. She was already alone whether she walked up to the stonehenge or standing right there. Jamie's anger wasn't justified.
Самая любимая пара❤ и самый прекрасный сериал😍 очень жду последний сезон❤
Jamie don't fret brother, my wife's just a modern day Claire! IT will never change.
😂
They both wrong even in this time. Who goes for a walk in the woods in such a times and then gets angry cause he tried to protect you. But then who thinks someone would do something like this on purpose. In the end the essence of reasoning is all that needed to be said. Harsh times makes a harsh man especially when he wants to keep you safe. That's any male mind in any type of relationship with a woman.
Wow, that was toxic. I thought this show was supposed to be about this epic love story. If my husband ever called me a B, I'd immediately divorce him.
He called her a foul mouthed b****, she called him a f****** Bast@rd.... I think they're even 😂 If you read the books the story is fantastic and so is their dynamic.
@scullywully1604 they were both in the wrong she shouldn’t have called him names and he shouldn’t have either. But there both from different times
Do you know the backstory?
There's no context that makes this exchange okay.
It reality for a lot of people
I'm with Jamie 100% on this one. It's all her fucking fault.
A woman from the past would do better with a modern man than the reverse.
You damn right because if a man even dreamt of speaking to me like that he better wake up running.
Ese es el trato que recibía ler de sam cuando estuvo con el el primer tiempo heran unos bárbaros que mo sabían tratar a una mujer
The AI captions are dreadful 😨
Depois que Clair entrou na vida de Jaime por todo amor a vida dele mudou para pior
He was right!
He was 100% wrong.
@@ohana8535 If she had obeyed her husband she would not have been put into danger!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@theapostaterunawayslave First, if she was the obeying time, the show would be a snooze. She's the heroine of this story and when she found an opportunity to return to her time, she took it. After she told him that she was from the future and was desperately trying to go back to Frank, he understood and was sorry for beating her. Glad she's not the obedient kind. Love her feistiness,
@@jakek4876 women need to obey
@@theapostaterunawayslave They're in a war. She's not responsible for the crimes of other soldiers. She's allowed to choose her own risks and make any attempt to go home that she can. She's not their mother or their babysitter or even a member of the community. Every single member of that group knows the marriage is a fraud at that point.
I can argue and get undressed at the same time, by the time I'm really angry, we're both naked.
Is it just me or did he manage to play the victim and make it all about him ...and then she apologized? 👎🏻
Did they not apologize to each other? Staying proud makes reconciliation very hard. This modern day victimhood/victim-shaming nonsense is why our society is becoming so screwed up. Everyone is owed… except possibly the man. Their bad behavior needs to be excused because of their identity. That is peak narcissism.
@@_Colie Understand her feelings? This isn't about her feelings. They are in very dangerous times where the enemy is constantly milling around. She knows this. Second, the men around him just had to risk their lives to rescue her. They aren't trying to die for her. From their viewpoint, if he can't control his wife, they will not stay loyal to him. I don't like how she was expected to obey him, but that's the world she's in. She needs to fall in line whether she likes it or not. It would be like me waking up in a country where the women are expected to wear burkas and me insisting on wearing a bikini when I know damn well that that will reflect poorly on me and whoever I'm staying with. I love Claire, but she was forever putting Jaime in a position where he was having to defend her and explain her to people. It got on my nerves.
Thank you. They are both the victims but at least he acknowledges what happened to her. She is just acting like she knows everything and showing no regard for the danger she put them all in. Imagine being in Ukraine right now and just "going for a walk". You'd be out your mind.
Yes,
It is just you. Glad you asked.
She was thinking only of herself
Exactly!
فوق العاده است
It was her fault.
AND… they were on a break!
She got herself in trouble because she wouldn’t listen to him and she’s willful. She has no idea how to be part of a team. Then he saves her from a fate worse than death and she slaps him. Doesn’t say thanks or sorry. I don’t find it cute.
Yeah she was awful to him at times. She needs to stop acting like she’s in charge all the time.
If he had listened to her in the first place, none of this would have happened. He should have taken her with him.
@@soulserenade.kcn1992He should have listened to her.
No, she got in trouble because she was trying to get back to her timeline. It’s not like she could discuss that with anyone or get his input on the matter… of course she’d have to escape on her own and disobey him to do so
I love the Outlander book series!!! The only characters I like is Jamie, Young Ian, Marsali, Lord John and Murtagh. I don’t like Claire even in her older age or Brianna or Roger Lol I can go on. But Claire is annoying, even as she gets older but Jamie loves her so🤷🏽♀️
I love book Claire, but hate TV Claire.
Jamie is a brute and a jerk.
So at some point women knew how to apologize. Wow.
You are messed up.
❤
She was wrong sorry to say ! Wrong 😢😢
I think she likes to make Jamie mad cause she secretly thinks it's sexy! I can't blame her!
Totally missed the point.
Otro maltrato de sam hacia cait😮
😍
@@misspriss2482no you wouldn't
he saved your a$$ let him be angry and let it off of his chest such an entitled BH
I am a surgeon
She looks like his mom
She’s not as much of a feminist in the books
Despues se hace el nene
Claire is REALLY annoying….. please tell me she loses her feminism shtick as the season goes on…. It’s almost unbearable to watch as she puts everything into danger and never seems to think things through. Especially when she was trying to save Jaime in Wentworth prison…. She thinks she is untouchable.
She doesnt think she is u touchable. She represents thatWomen Do t want to be treatwt like weak objects
Wow. Her "feminist shtick"... Hope there are no women in your life because you sound like a bad person to be around.
You realize she becomes a surgeon later on and heals rapists and murderers right?
This is the problem with modern women!!!!!!!!!!!!
So you are weak and think it's a problem?
Not pretty
Claire was so annoying I stopped watching after like the 2nd or 3rd season. Can’t remember. The excessive whining and stubbornness is annoying af. She’s trying to be a feminist in 18th century Scotland
So she cheats on him too.
No she cheated on Frank with Jamie for sure.
@@thruthemotions No, she didn't cheat on Frank with Jamie because Frank was not born during her time with Jamie.
@@jakek4876 she went back to the present day and told frank to his face that she had an affair with James. Frank later read that she went back to james before he died in the car crash. She didn't even try hard enough to get back to Frank which is understandable; her and James have been through more hell so of course they're bond grew stronger.
@@thruthemotions In the context of real/present time, it would be but not 200 years before Frank was born and she had no idea that she would have ever been able to go back to her time. Moreover, she was pregnant and was 100% truthful about what happened to her. So no, it wasn't cheating.
