Nice, this is AMAZING information.. Honestly Palamutes NEED this kind of buff. The fact of the matter is, the damage and status effects might STILL not match up to the utility of double Gathering Palicos potentially pilfering enough materials to double your hunt efficiency lol. With some of the builds I'm aiming to put together im definitely gonna be getting para-god dogs prepped. A bunch of paralysis procs on top of occasional mount opportunities? A crouching shot/siege mode HBG is gonna have a great freaking time! Even more so since I can go drop a shock trap under them before they exit a mount window and just go back to shooting? Very little is gonna be able to really move
Hell I just run 1 palamute, that mounted gun, and status up, and it still sleeps every 5-7 minutes, usually 2-3 total in a 15-20 min hunt. So I keep his other gear to the jaws (I love when he latches on to the monster, looks so bad ass), and lottery palico, cuz "WHERE'S MY DRAGONATOR?" is what I've set for every call out, so it's like a dream come true.
I've been pairing this with the paralysis cat charge blade set up with the chainsaw silkbind and Status Trigger, the constant paralysis more than makes up for the lackluster damage and it's just a super fun playstyle.
i figured it'll be broken, right of the back when they introduce comrades memory increasing feature using eurekanut :) try rocking 2 palamutes with paralysis and sleep and you got the perfect combination for GS and CB
I honestly had already done this, but a bit more on a Casual Side of Things with Healing Scroll as Secondary Equipment. The Skills I used were Status up, Artful Dodger, Crit. Up(L) and Stun Immunity
I'm wondering if a Scavenger Palico with the same skills could serve similarly as a second partner? Pilfer + Mega boomerang for the ranged piercing status buildup. Endemic life barrage + Anti-monster mine + Shock tripper for more utility. And ofcourse the Kittenator!
You wildly underestimate how much people worship Palicos and consider Palamutes redundant even as a mobility tool because of the wirebug. So yes, them being powerful was a secret to the majority of players.

What about the umbrella? If hitting the head it stuns and deals the status, what do you think? Is technically 2 status in one(to be fair 3 because stun damage deals fatigue damage). As a gs user i always did use 2 palicoes with sleep weapon, umbrella and anything else(i think there is an scroll that helps this build, bu i did it so long ago i dont remember), but now it will be the shuriken or the other ranged one, if i only take one, which one you think os better?
I hvae this with my healer palico and my palamute and between the both of them i get 3 to 4 sleeps a hunt. I often need to restock on bombs (mostly because im not great at timing the metsu with the small bombs)
It would be better if you give paralysis weapon simply because there a small chance that they will shoot the monster when they are sleeping, it doesn't matter if you already sheathe your weapon
Does anything in this video still work? Its so hard to find up to date information on Buddy builds because everything in search results is old and capcom loves to nerf shit. I know RGV's palamute silkbinder video is irrelevant because of nerfs and I'm just wondering if there's any reason to use dogs ever.
if solo run i use one gathering palico and one palamute for easy run, but if multiplayer i prefer using gathering palico only due to the longsword build and gathering more materials that i am using unless i be using LGB piercing build only then i use palamute in multiplayer

Man, I'm starting to realize that dual blades really can very easily out damage GS for a normal player. All that down time when not doing 3k damage, I'm adding thousands while you're setting that up
Nice, this is AMAZING information.. Honestly Palamutes NEED this kind of buff. The fact of the matter is, the damage and status effects might STILL not match up to the utility of double Gathering Palicos potentially pilfering enough materials to double your hunt efficiency lol. However if you're not hunting for mats this is an excellent alternative!
Especially true for the endgame grind, where pilfer can't get you the most important materials, the afflicted ones
Well for some reason i feel like pilfer got nerf.
I am glad doggos got a buff and they look so cute when they danced there.
I swear if they don’t bring back palamutes for future titles I’m gonna riot
Josh I've a feeling you and I could go on and on for a long time over how much we love our pets lol also, SO GOOD to know that ski teaching doesn't remove the skill from the original Buddy!
It can go even further beyond:
x Shuriken -> Throwarm Scroll
x Artful Dodger -> Piercing Attack Up
x Status Attack Up -> Attack Up (L+S)
With two dogs you'll still status nearly as often but you'll squeeze a bit more DPS out of it.
It's nice that palamutes have a purpose besides being a horse in sunbreak. I probably will still be using palicoes though
Dog: Proceeds to ease monster into restful slumber
Hunter: Sets of Mini Nuke
Who dares sleeps on my favorite pupper? The dogs are so freaking awesome that from here on, I refuse to play another monster hunter game without one.
2:56 "Doing a 5 to 10k damage wakeup hit." Proeceeds to do a 1.7k damage wakeup hit...
I have been making a palamute build recently and it is so much fun.
A palico build video would be awesome!
Whats the name of that cool palamute armor you have?
Honestly I want to know what was the song you used when you showed the lizards
something to note about teaching skills; the palimute/palico needs to have the skill unlocked by being high enough level before it can teach it
I've been pairing this with the paralysis cat charge blade set up with the chainsaw silkbind and Status Trigger, the constant paralysis more than makes up for the lackluster damage and it's just a super fun playstyle.
i figured it'll be broken, right of the back when they introduce comrades memory increasing feature using eurekanut :)
try rocking 2 palamutes with paralysis and sleep and you got the perfect combination for GS and CB
My two gathering palicoes give me two sleeps within 30 seconds, or a minute, of one-another every single time... Granted, I almost never see a third.
Oh so that’s how the “learn any skills” thing works. I must’ve skimmed that in-game.
the end of your vid gave me the idea to run palamute with poison, palico with poison + poison trap and i use a blast sns with foray. fun result.
Palamutes are soo good now. Didn’t know about the shuriken doing status Thx!
The saturn and mars turf war was much appreciated
I honestly had already done this, but a bit more on a Casual Side of Things with Healing Scroll as Secondary Equipment.
The Skills I used were Status up, Artful Dodger, Crit. Up(L) and Stun Immunity
I'm wondering if a Scavenger Palico with the same skills could serve similarly as a second partner?
Pilfer + Mega boomerang for the ranged piercing status buildup. Endemic life barrage + Anti-monster mine + Shock tripper for more utility. And ofcourse the Kittenator!
Palamutes are insanely OP for the simple fact you can sharpen while moving I never leave without my trusty dog companion
they were never "secretly" OP, they have been clearly powerful since the base game, which is why most freestyle runs even then ran 2 dogs.
You wildly underestimate how much people worship Palicos and consider Palamutes redundant even as a mobility tool because of the wirebug. So yes, them being powerful was a secret to the majority of players.
@@darrionrobinson8553 for me this was cause of pilfer on gathering cats run two of those and you get mountains of materials but it's definitely worth measuring by time spent per mat between the two. If you can get more hunts done in less time the bonus items of pilfer could potentially not be as worth it as the pure dps of dog.
@@darrionrobinson8553 you're right, I'm guilty of assuming most people have a functioning brain my bad
@@KaiEternal For time-per-mat to matter you need an optimised set or at least late-ish game for both palamutes and your hunter making the need to farm mats in the first place pointless, for your average player that's still farming, taking 20 to 30 mins to finish a hunt gettig bodied by monsters a palico is the obvious better choice as doesn't require much investment and online having multiple palicoes with traps and shock trippers with healing make hunts hilariously easy, they can lock in place a monster for part breaks way more especially now with the kittenator that's 3 times you can potentially lock a monster on a single area and that's without status, compared to the single one you'd be getting per area with a palamute.
Doggos are great for DPS and finishing quests faster but they require you to progress quite a bit and have high end gear while as the utility a palico brings on top of the extra materials is so overpowered right from the get go.
@@Mustard-Seeds that's fair point but I've always found I'm a material horder even at endgame all about the payout 😂 for early to late game I def wouldn't trade away the utility and extra mats from cat for sure you damn near get like half a hunt's worth of mats everytime but speedkill/rank farming def benefit from dog endgame 🤔 and yah new player experience I didn't even think of most of my parties with new players spend 10 minutes bird hunting before engaging with the monsters I try to convince them its not needed and if they die and fail its part of the learning experience but I've yet to have luck with that lol
I have a crested gecko, Lizards are fucking awesome
I just got that skill, time to break out my palimute for the first time since I found you didn’t need them
🤣 what monitors are those Josh? I Love the dramatic snack time music for ur lizard bbys
What’s the armor you used on the dogs? They look amazing
"There is no Dog there"
Still going with my Cat'buddy's
so ill start by saying i appreciate the videos and content. BUT, I am still DYING to know what happened with the old new intro that seemingly never got finished
The palamute "im my own master now"
Having not one, but two (ackie) monitors? Definitely a gamer move lol
I’m so glad Palamutes have their specialty and Palicos have theirs. If you need to gather rare materials? Take cats. If you just want to hunt as fast as possible? Take dogs. Want to have fun? Take whatever you want! I’ve had so much fun picking buddies I take based on my needs hunt by hunt.
Thank you for making all these informative videos. This is one of the channels I check first whenever I’m looking something up.
P.S. What layered armor are you using for the chest? I don’t recognize it and it looks so nice.
I like to use a dog and a cat. Mainly caused I named the first ones after passed pets and I ain't leaving either of them behind.
I love my Palicos but may need to bench one in single player for a palimute. In Multiplayer though I'm still bringing my Gathering Palico.
That combo he did on the sleeping Pukei at around 3:20, how does that work? Does the Strongarm move always go straight into True Charged Slash, or?
You have to press and release the strongarm mid charge and then it goes into rageslash/true-charge, depending on your set-up
If you’re in the middle of a charge attack when you Strongarm, you’ll go straight into TCS, otherwise it’s a level 3 charge slash
running a palico with para with the boomerang and status up as well as kittenator and a palamute with sleep and this combo mean not only a down but 3 sleeps a hunt and 2 paralysis and it is rediculous
Been using these pet builds for awhile makes the hunts a lot ezer
One of these days id love to show the team my sleep sns support build.
I tend to put the monster alseep 3 times in a hunt and the first one is around 2 min.
Throwarm scroll is better with silkbinder.. Add partbreaker or knockout king is better than artfuldodger.. check barrasu or angbata yt they have a info breakdown...
Ranged centric is a palico skill
So you should scout for a palico for that skill
Don't Palicos plunder extra monster parts? So if you are grinding for gear then run those. And run doggo for that status/DPS. Also when solo hunting would a balance of both would be a decent generalist idea.
Came for dog, stayed for lizard. 10/10 lizard moment.
Just changed my Palamute's setup like this and about to test it out.
ooo, use the buddy rally rampage gem, give them the strongest blast weapon with decent raw for ranged. run a blast weapon of your own. run buddy part breaker.
Good to know I'm rolling in the right direction with Para-Palamutes.
Never understood why sleep is used (except for big burst DPS, that one I get) or why I'm not getting much out of other statuses
But Paralysis? oh lordy, everything i'm hitting you with may as well be a stunlock because *_you're not going anywhere while I got plenty to pick with you_*
I played with two palamutes in base rise and the umbrella made them stack sleep and para really fast but now my priority goes to the healing bats to counter dereliction
I use the blitz scroll on mine and she just keeps firing and throwing stuff at the monster really fast. Paired up with my palico with support centric and my palimute shoots very often.
Palicos do status this good as well. A gathering palico makes it even better as well
Is that a crit draw/punishing draw playstyle I see being teased?
What chest piece you using on your main character? want it for fashion reasons
It's a crime I want to play rise so bad but gunna have to wait a couple months to get first PC and all of it damnit ahhhh !!!!
I like to use the buddies locked into the trading, meowcenarious and Buddy recon to act like a library of skills so you don’t need to hire new buddies.
I've seen people do 3-5 minutes hunts with only 2 Palamutes dealing the damage, while the hunter is dooting in the distance
Does anything in this video still work? Its so hard to find up to date information on Buddy builds because everything in search results is old and capcom loves to nerf shit. I know RGV's palamute silkbinder video is irrelevant because of nerfs and I'm just wondering if there's any reason to use dogs ever.
I have been checking the dogs in the buddy scout for days. I am convinced "Ranged Centric" doesn't exist
Omg! I made 4 sleeps in 12 mins against scorned magnamalo
Never saw a palamute dropping me a mantle.
Ayyyy love your Monitors!!!?
2:01 i can't tell if I'm witnessing a turf war or sibling rivalry at its finest.... Or maybe both.
I'd suggest using the crit scroll instead of the large shuriken - it's the single largest bump in dog damage
if solo run i use one gathering palico and one palamute for easy run, but if multiplayer i prefer using gathering palico only due to the longsword build and gathering more materials that i am using unless i be using LGB piercing build only then i use palamute in multiplayer
The problem I have is that I'm trying to get the Heavy Humble Scrap, if you got an idea how to properly farm them
Meowcinaries, flooded forest MR with a sparkle.
Question from a GS player. I’ve been using crit draw instead of crit eye for the 60% affinity boost. Is this as viable as leaving crit draw out of the equation?
For context, when using a draw attack on a weak spot with weakness exploit 3, this gives you +110% affinity.
*sees the dancing palamutes*
This was the right clip.
