Fun watch. Nothing wrong with smaller fish once in a while, especially if they are a new species! Those round tail chub look very similar to some flat head chubs I found fishing a prairie river. I had no idea what they were. I had to do some after fishing research.

Red eye bass are native to the Coosa river system of Alabama/Georgia, so growing up there, we used to catch them all the time. There's another rare bass down there called the shoal bass. Sadly it's going extinct due to all the dams on the rivers; the dams prevent the formation of shoals, which shoal bass need to reproduce and whatnot. But at some point look up a shoal bass, just to see the patterns---they are cool looking.

Wassup thats sick man i have caught some bass that are green that have red eyes i always thought they were small mouth but now i know that these are a thing so now i know to check what they are
All bass of of the Micropterus family can have red eyes, yes, but that is not the general term given to these fish. People call them coosa bass because they originate from the coosa river system in Alabama. Same reason people call grass carp white amur. Redeye bass is actually the non generalized term for this fish, and you can see that by searching “coosa bass” on Google and the first thing that pops up is Redeye bass. Black bass is what you seem to be talking about. Smallmouth, largemouth, Redeye, Guadalupe, shoal, Alabama, etc are all under the black bass (Micropterus) family. Thanks for watching!

@FishingWithPorter fish will go as far as needed and spread over time. Shoal bass for example will go hundreds of miles just to spawn every year. And the Alabama spots have spread throughout systems they were introduced to and continue to spread past dams and upstream that seem impossible.
I fish the upper stretch of the verde within a few miles either way of where he filmed this video about 3 times a week and used to catch small mouth regularly when i lived back east, unfortunately theres no smallmouth up here.
