This game had such incredible potentials, excluding the obvious sad visual downgrade and removed contents, the portrayal of Chicago was just perfect. It had some of the most incredible pedestrian scripts in history of gaming. TheWorse alongside the community have published a Remastered version, which to date still looks better than WD Legion.
you can actually play a mod that has the xact features and graphics of this build (ps4 relaunch mod). It aso includes another mod known as "living city" which adds so much side content to the game that youd think was created by the develoers.

The hacking wheel, and sound and effects when you switch just feels so next gen. Combining this with the Joseph Demarco demo, makes the game look and feel so good. I wish they will make this game one day
Hopefully with watch dogs 4 they can finally deliver the graphics that were promised, the Xbox series x and ps5 are both extremely powerful, and Xbox has proven with hell made that next gen could plenty handle these amazing graphics

I’m mostly waiting for _A Plague Tale: Requiem_ and _Outlast: Trials._ By the way, nowadays I usually get more excited for indie games than for “AAA games” being developed by the same old companies that we all know. Some indie developers have also brought back the 3-D platformer era; and that’s just very awesome if you ask me. I have also become interested in learning how to develop indie games myself, lately. But yes, modern AAA games are not as great as they were in the past. To me, it seems like indie games are becoming the way to go.

I know we all are waiting to play it, but we have to admit that waiting is part of the fun of the game. the anticipation that's built up, all the hype. I'm sure ubi knows what they're doing. maybe they're fixing the driving? making more names for the citizens? who knows, but I'm sure it'll be great.
The profiler in WD1 is better than the one in WD2 because it shows more details, but one thing I noticed about the profiler in this demo is that you can still faintly see the profile when you hack bank accounts, whereas in the real game you have to wait a few seconds before seeing new profiles.
It's all business for ubisoft. If they had made watchdogs 1 as good looking as this video, they wouldn't be able to profit enough from watchdogs 2 and watchdogs 3.

The downgrade most likely happened to the fact the game was cross-gen and limitations due to the PS4 and Xbox One not being fully familiar when it came to developing games. They were still new.

Watch dogs 2 was fun to play but i dont get pulled in the story because the story is a lot less serious. The main protagonists are just joking around while in the first watch dogs you were doing assassinations and other dark stuff. Which is imo for a hacker game the way to go

@Skid Skid while i agree with a lot of what you said the cop part is debatable. if you don't have a weapon out when you have a heat level 1 they will attempt to arrest you, thats when you can initiate a hack to get away while you have your hands in the air.
I'm yet again hugely impressed by this game. This seems like the game we've been waiting ages for. A GTA version mixed with assassins creed elements, while adding in stealth etc. including their own ideas. I really do hope the game feels as a free-roaming game, and not a strictly linearized one like to many games are these days.
I WANT IT!!! Also... Joseph Gorden-Levit would be the perfect actor for this protagonist if they made a movie about it.... the game's concept, game-play and features are so fresh and cool... and also interconnected with so many great game influences.
For those that don't know, the graphics that were announced for watch dogs did exist, but they had to cut it off the game because the consoles of that time couldn't run it. (The graphics are still in the game files and theres a mod on pc to turn them on)

It's so weird, the textures and ai look the same in the final release, it's just the lighting that is so bad... wonder why they couldn't deliver it like this... also the running animation in this was perfect, blows my mind trying to think why they scrapped it for the retail running animation, that one is hideous. Be weary, there's a guy named HeySlickThatsMe who can't look with his eyes.
I hope the city is large and fully realized with lots of buildings to access, subways and sewers, ways to access roofs and a realistic city population that reacts to your actions.
You know as well as anyone else who's mildly into gaming that the first few games that come out on a console are merely previews as to what the console has the capacity to do. Look at the 360. It went from Oblivion to games that would actually utilize the HDMI cable.
Yes, but that does not mean it has all the features I mentioned. The city might be very small and not at all fully realized. Only very few buildings might be accessible. Sewers and subways might be inaccessible and the city population might have an extremely limited unrealistic AI.
Yknow, i went to this location just after it rained like in the trailer so the roads/path was wet and man the graphics are still fuckin good, its not like its that far off. And the gameplay is still all there, i went through the restarunt and up the ally way and could do all the same things, went on top of the building and stoped the train then rode ontop.... overall not as good as this trailer but still pretty damn good.
My main issue is that almost whole gameplay is poorly thought out and badly balanced. This demo gave you a fake idea, that even some random event can turn out to be an exciting zction set piece and for some part it's true for release version: gang members can call for back up, serious gangsters arrive on their cars, sometimes fleeing suspects shoot explosive objects near you. But most time you can't see all this spectacle, because Aiden Pearce is too damn fast and AI is highly scripted. Even crime victim doesn't react on Aiden, while he is armed to the teeth, waiting for event to happen. Ubisoft clearly took some notes from TV-series Person of Interest, but they made such events linear and dull, unless in the TV-series, where they were mini stories focused around many factors and you this idea could be easily translated into gameplay: maybe victim is suddenly you because you gained bad reputation in city, maybe suspect changed his mind but you killed him and made it look like you are the villian.
Compare this with the actual gameplay of Watch Dogs Legion, you will see the difference, this game was ahead of it's time not even WD2 and Legion looks this good, but our legendary Ubisoft decided to downgrade this game well.
This looks epic and fresh, short summaries of peoples life, hacking peoples accounts, and the whole GTA look to it. Im really looking forward to this game
Dedsec is already part of Watch Dogs universe, its a group of rebels against ctOS which stole the people privacy data. Clara from WD1 was a member of Dedsec. meanwhile in WD2, we play as a Dedsec. by the way, we save Aiden in WD2 as well. I think they didn't plan for the next game, WD2 was created to save the franchise
DedSec was created in WD1, but it had a minor participation in the game. In WD2 they continued it but showing their side of the story, having the main participation
I wish Watch Dogs Legion would have a memorable sequence like this. And also has some of the best track that isn't included in the Original OST and i hope they included this track in Legion.
to add. the fact that both the ps4 and the new xbox will be based on pc architecture also means that pc versions of games are gonna get even better looking and farther ahead of the consoles than they are now. because Devs are writing pc code. end of story. far less chance of dodgy console ports on the PC and its simple to add some bells and whistles for the people with a machine able to handle it. its a win win situation

I think Ubisoft was a generation too early with this game. This should have been a PS5, xbox series X launch title with ray tracing and ssd.

It's so weird, the textures and ai look the same in the final release, it's just the lighting that is so bad... wonder why they couldn't deliver it like this... also the running animation in this was perfect, blows my mind trying to think why they scrapped it for the retail running animation, that one is hideous.

I hope the city is large and fully realized with lots of buildings to access, subways and sewers, ways to access roofs and a realistic city population that reacts to your actions.
You know as well as anyone else who's mildly into gaming that the first few games that come out on a console are merely previews as to what the console has the capacity to do. Look at the 360. It went from Oblivion to games that would actually utilize the HDMI cable.

Yes, but that does not mean it has all the features I mentioned.
The city might be very small and not at all fully realized. Only very few buildings might be accessible. Sewers and subways might be inaccessible and the city population might have an extremely limited unrealistic AI.
100 years...that's how many hours of gameplay that exists in my future with this game

Yknow, i went to this location just after it rained like in the trailer so the roads/path was wet and man the graphics are still fuckin good, its not like its that far off. And the gameplay is still all there, i went through the restarunt and up the ally way and could do all the same things, went on top of the building and stoped the train then rode ontop.... overall not as good as this trailer but still pretty damn good.
If you lucky enough, then almost the same criminal activity will happen there.
My main issue is that almost whole gameplay is poorly thought out and badly balanced. This demo gave you a fake idea, that even some random event can turn out to be an exciting zction set piece and for some part it's true for release version: gang members can call for back up, serious gangsters arrive on their cars, sometimes fleeing suspects shoot explosive objects near you. But most time you can't see all this spectacle, because Aiden Pearce is too damn fast and AI is highly scripted. Even crime victim doesn't react on Aiden, while he is armed to the teeth, waiting for event to happen. Ubisoft clearly took some notes from TV-series Person of Interest, but they made such events linear and dull, unless in the TV-series, where they were mini stories focused around many factors and you this idea could be easily translated into gameplay: maybe victim is suddenly you because you gained bad reputation in city, maybe suspect changed his mind but you killed him and made it look like you are the villian.
The water physics in wd1 is better than wd2
Compare this with the actual gameplay of Watch Dogs Legion, you will see the difference, this game was ahead of it's time not even WD2 and Legion looks this good, but our legendary Ubisoft decided to downgrade this game well.
What if they release this version of watch dogs onto the series x and ps5

Dedsec is already part of Watch Dogs universe, its a group of rebels against ctOS which stole the people privacy data. Clara from WD1 was a member of Dedsec. meanwhile in WD2, we play as a Dedsec. by the way, we save Aiden in WD2 as well. I think they didn't plan for the next game, WD2 was created to save the franchise
DedSec was created in WD1, but it had a minor participation in the game. In WD2 they continued it but showing their side of the story, having the main participation

to add. the fact that both the ps4 and the new xbox will be based on pc architecture also means that pc versions of games are gonna get even better looking and farther ahead of the consoles than they are now. because Devs are writing pc code. end of story.
far less chance of dodgy console ports on the PC and its simple to add some bells and whistles for the people with a machine able to handle it.
