Hey everyone! This is the longest music video I've EVER directed/filmed/edited/produced!!!
Hope it shows you what it's like to be part of med school :)
Thank you so much to all amazing friends/classmates for helping me out with this HUGE project!! But since literally almost all of you took part in this, I can't type out all of your names, haha!! :(

Med school students.... We don't usually study, but when mid term's around, we go 7 days without sleeping.

He really destroyed the video, because it didn't fit in at all. I guess someone thought it would be funny to have a random guy running around in Batman-pyjamas... But it wasn't.

All that stuff isn't as hard as it looks. Except the GPA and references, but those aren't even that hard. volunteering is easy, just do one volunteer thing a month, or better yet, volunteer at a hospital. That way, the med schools can see that you are very interested in medicine, and you can easily get some kick-ass recommendations if you are pro-social. For the GPA, you just have to put down the same amount of study time as class time per week per class. Or more if you get stuck with a difficult class. Finally, you can do one big thing a year. Big thing as in going to study at a chinese university over the summer, doing volunteer work in cambodia helping HIV positive orphans, etc... By the time you undergrads done, you'll have a 3.8-4.0 GPA, at least 10 recommendations, and hundreds of volunteer hours.

they pay that here but not till ur fully certified not in med school and in residency its alot let less like 50-70 thousand

Depends on the speciality and how much you work.
This speaks to me on so many levels. I keep getting a sense of inadequacy and nagging stress as this pre-med process is coming along. What keeps me going is the hope that it'll be worth it in the end.

Wow. I graduated med school in 1984. I can’t even begin to say how much these routines capture so much of the feelings of becoming a doctor, anticipation, fear, exhilaration, acquiring new powers, it’s all there. I listen to this again and again. Thank you talented colleagues.

I'm dying :') reminds me of the good old undergrad days when I used to fall into a pit of despair if my grades were anything less than perfect... I'm in 2nd year of med school now and I cried after finding out my final grade was a 54... of happiness... BECAUSE I FUCKING PASSED (true story)

I still think it's the best med school parody I have seen. The, "quit volunteering.." skit always gets me laughing!
The sad thing is that everyone works this hard to get in, but once they're in, they don't always appreciate it as much anymore. I suppose that's a good thing, because you're always pushing yourself and striving for greatness...but it's important to remember why we all went into med school in the first place. That bright eyed idealism fades, but shouldn't disappear completely.

If you want to get into medical school... FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY... DON'T major in biology... a dime a dozen. Do something crazy... One of my best friends in undergrad was in the chem dept with me, I was a chem/bio double major, he majored in philosophy, with the minor in chem. did all the premed coursework and got into Mercer Savannah campus no problem... dont be the typical applicant... every single one of you is going to have references, 100s of hours of volunteer work, student leadership, shadowing hours, participate in the AMSA as a premed student, have a 3.95-4.0 gpa etc etc. One admissions officer told me they'd rather accept a fine arts major with spectacular premed requisite course grades than another bio-premed major. They dont just want a brain anymore, they want a well rounded person now.
My uncle's a surgeon and said similar to this...something about it indicating good bedside manner.
I've heard this time and time again. As as a current Bio major with a 4.0, 100's of volunteer hours, shadowing, AMSA, perfect references, research, fundraising, upper level Phys/Ana and Bio course tutoring, it makes me wonder if I should swap and finish my fine arts degree or something.... would only take 2 semesters since pre-reqs are done...
My band director told us that med schools like band on a resume.

Kudos on being willing to do a job that is sometimes thankless and for taking on a load of debt to do that. Bless you all and don't quit! Just remember to really listen to what your patient is saying to you and involve them in the process of care --- it really is a joint effort. Don't get blase about your job.

To anyone asking about the guy in PJs, i think it starts as a kid looking up to docs as a superheroe, then looking up to someone who got into med school, then he himself gets in medschool and finally, he, through hard work, becomes that superheroe which he always aspired to be (a doc)
