@@kaloloL8huh. Then why is it needed to change the oil every xx km OR 6 months WHICH EVER COMES first? oils degrade through time and they tend to sludge if not changed or used. Your analogy is not applicable since those new oils are not used. The oil in this car was already used meaning it was already exposed to heat and other internal mechanical parts of the vehicle.
@linkinparkadik I don't know if you have ever watched old world War two vehicle restorations. The oil in alot of these cars have remained in tact and enough to run some of these engines sitting for almost 100 years. This is because of air compression. It's all basic shit man. Oil corrods from exposure to H20. There could be some corrosion but over a small period of afew years it would be barely noticeable. I've seen 100 year old trucks run on a farm first pop after 40 years of sitting in old oil, although old and thickened, is enough to lubricate pistons and rods to turn on. Again, basic science.
@@kaloloL8for someone telling about "basic science", I am surprised you haven't thought about how tight the tolerances inside engines for lubrication to go through are. Thickend oil due to degredation can kill a good engine regardless if it looks okay or not. Also, the lubricating properties of the oil also fades through time so say goodbye to your bearings and any other metal contact points inside the engine if you really stand by your beliefs. You may have seen those old engines start up and run but it doesn't change the fact that old, stagnated lubricants need to be replaced before any prolonged driving is done to avoid or cause any further damage to the engine.
Thank you so much for the comment! It’s comments like these that make me want to keep going. Glad you loved it! Very lucky for the old bank account! Haha
Why would anybody abandon i10 in 2020? It is great little car - reliable, good on fuel, sits 4, 5 for short trips. My family used to own Atos which used same engine, went to 370.000km before gasket started leaking oil. And it was only problem. And brake booster started to fail on 240.000km. apart from that, just oil, tires, whipper blades and brakes.
I have a hyundai i10 all the way back from 2011, it's still working top notch till now and only had a few minor servicing over the years, I got to say hyundai cars are very reliable.
Does yours have issues with the V-Belt squeaking? We've had that issue so many times now. The car got to rhe mechanics ans after a while it would return
I'm from India guys , back in 2013 we had this car and at that time, this was a fully fantastic car love the way it looks and still we have this car along with a Tucson ±

Hi Josh This was a good video ,full of content and you really made a good job of the car .I hope you get a lot more sub 's you deserve it .I don't won't to be negative but some of the comments have said the same it should have an oil change ,
Thanks for the positive comment mate really glad you enjoyed the video. I definitely agree however the I was acting on advice of the owner and suggested I could do a full service however he wanted to cover that himself so I left it for him to do. Had it been my car I definitely would’ve completed a full service. Thanks again and hopefully you’ll enjoy some future videos!
Exactly what I thought! It probably will need brand new tyres after it has been sitting flat for years. Replacement oils and fluids would probably not go amiss, and probably new brakes too - he said it himself that it was sticky? The interior probably also need some cleaning and vacuuming which I hope he did but just didn't make it in the video. However given that he wasn't formally commissioned to restore the car I guess it is understandable.
The water pump / thermostat housings feed pipe has probably rusted and will leak , they are very weak on these cars (1.2) cause the water pump to seize and one has to take the engine out to change that if run dry and and the vbelt is a pig to change. One has to remove the intake manifold off to change that metal water pipe and usually the thermostat housing cracks when you pull that metal water pipe out of it and the bolts that hold the thermostat housing rust and break off so it’s engine out to repair the threads on that . Bad cars

So, basically, he just washed his neighbor's car (very thorough though, well done here). But he didn't change the oil and oil filter. It should have been done BEFORE starting the engine. And personally, I would use a cheaper oil first to run it for couple hundred miles, and then would change the oil and filter again. Also air and cabin filters need to be changed. All liquids to be changed as well (coolant and brake fluid).
