    More Deets:
We’ve been living aboard our catamaran Curiosity for almost four years. For the first time since we moved aboard, we decided to take a break. After 13,000 plus nautical miles under our newbie sea legs, we hauled the boat out in Tonga. To sit out cyclone season, visit family and stock up on well…EVERYTHING!
We did all of that and so much more. Some of it was gut-wrenching, some bittersweet and some of it was giving back to those who give to us unconditionally. We even crossed over into another continent to see our saltiest of friends (South Africa…beyond incredible).
And then there was this pandemic that started mucking up everything, for everyone. WTF!
Travel, banned. Flights, grounded. Borders, closed. Quarantined. Stranded.
In route back to our tiny floating home, we were stopped. The world was shutting down and we weren’t allowed to make the final flight home. It was canceled.
Now here we are, in Fiji for the foreseeable future. Self-isolating…waiting, pining for home. But, mother nature doesn’t bend to human pandemics, rules or lockdowns. She rages on.
There is a monster category 5 cyclone claiming lives in the Solomon Islands, ripping Vanuatu to shreds and heading straight for us. Then, directly to Tonga…where, our home is parked.
I feel we are being tested, tried, possibly pranked, in a very unfunny way. Whatever the case, here is the story about that time we survived Cyclone Harold, while in isolation in Fiji during a pandemic.
    WHO ARE WE?
We’re Jason and Nikki Wynn. We been living off the grid and exploring the world for almost a decade.
Our first six years of travel were an epic road trip around North America.
Now we’re on a sailing voyage about the world. Did we have any previous sailing experience, of course not!
Neither of us is overly talented, smart, rich, lucky, or retired. But that doesn’t stop us from reaching far-flung destinations, having wild adventures, and managing everything that makes living aboard a moving vessel possible.
We’re two ordinary people that just so happen to live an extraordinary life.
Life is an adventure. Extraordinary moments out there for anyone willing, and wanting, to go after it. Ya know life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
And this is why we publish our lives to the world wide web. We share in hopes of inspiring you to find your adventure.
    Shared with LOVE 💕

In an odd way, you guys are really blessed. Can you imagine if there had been no cerveza sickness and you'd made it to your boat a couple weeks ago? You would likely have been at sea during that typhoon. Instead of having your boat safely hauled in and you guys in a comfy apartment with hot coffee and ice creme. ;-)

We have a new sport in Australia called roll flogging. Where you run through supermarket car parks and attempt to steal someone's toilet paper from their trolley when they are packing their groceries in their car. The parents with children section is best, because they turn their backs while securing their child in the car seats. I'm actually not serious, they usually pack the rolls in then baby second. We do pick up bottles when kayaking and put them under the cargo net. Not in the creeks though, because of the hepatitis risk.

DEALING WITH ISOLATION - While non of us have had this exact experience previously, there are a few 'native' Texans that know what its like to be pretty much alone. West Texas isn't the worst for isolation because the social separation is geographic and the people are better able to deal with a life with 'FEW' neighbors.
As a traveler... I've experienced the things I see in the video.. finding myself alone in a place far from family and other 'comforting' relationships. Once, not far from where you find yourselves, (in global terms) on a south pacific Atoll north of you but very much isolated as I worked for a some months.
Keep up the videos, the experiences and above all, lessons learned from the very well organized and tight ship you keep.
When the world emerges from this crisis, we will have new priorities. Having knowledge on how to cope will be valuable to all on social media and watchers of You Tube.
A great talent with the camera and the presentations. Nice work folks.

Fried plantains is my favorite, if you love garlic as i do " i chop 2 cloves of garlic, little salt to taste , pinch of crushed peperoncini half a cup of olive oil and if you like half a teaspoon of vinegar and let sit , do not put in fridge, this will ferment for 2 hours at least and the oil will need stirring prior to use. This makes a fabulous dip or just pour a teaspoon over the plantains.

👌❤. I'm reminded of a time while serving in the Middle East that I made that same mistake with the coffee. I spent three hours chipping a concave into a small boulder then used a baseball sized rock to grind the beans. It went into some poly-fiber camo netting which I boiled in a discarded soup can. I suppose coffee always tastes best when you have to work for it. Stay safe you two.

No coffee! That's the worst. Where we live, storms cut the power. First time we drove to the town for coffee. Then we got camping stoves and ground coffee. It would go stale because we use a fully automatic coffee machine which grinds the beans and makes fresh coffee. Long story short, we bought a 6KW generator. Can't live without it.

The little windows are called “louvre” or “louver” windows. I grew up with them in southern Florida before air conditioning was common. You had to go to the movies or ice cream parlor for that in the early 60’s. They can be opened at a slant to allow air flow without rain. Except in Cat 4 storms.....
