I grew up on a bee farm. My grandfather and his father were bee keepers and we sold Italian Queen bees all over the world. My grandfather had a wood working shop too and actually made most of his beehives and equipment. We had a “bee house” where we seared the wax coating off and put the frames in a large stainless steel “spinner” and the honey flowed down another stainless steel “gutter like thing” and into a closed stainless steel drum. We sat on a little stool at the bottom in a concrete pit and opened the valve and filled our jars with honey. Then we put our label on and put the jars in a box and off to the market they went. My grandfather loved biscuits and honey. He would slice off a tablespoon or so of butter, pour honey over it, mix it up with his fork, and then put it on his biscuits. Great memories!

Thank you very much for the lovely personalised message, and the card itself is pure class.

Oh how I feel for you Rob, it’s been such a long road for you both so far. I can identify with trying to find things that help you bring your motivation back! It’s a long haul this renovation lark, that’s for sure, with a lot of ups and downs too.
Aww Clare I love how enthusiastic you are with the bee keeping and how you are with them too. Before we moved over Ben said he would like to keep Bees but has since decided he’s not sure if he can do it, he’s not a fan of flying things that sting you! I’d not really had any thoughts about it but since watching you and how enthusiastic you are and knowledgeable it’s quite contagious. I feel like you would excel at anything you do.
As for trees and their roots….oh yes! 😂
Great video as per usual ❤

If you ever do another building project, do framing, roof, plumbing, electrical, insulation, plasterboard, then finish carpentry and floors in that order, and you won’t be tripping over things or having to take off plaster to get plumbing or electrical work done. Just some good advice. Also, that digger is awesome! That looked like quite the task with that root system! Clare, your bees look so happy, I can’t wait to see you get some honey from them! 😊 Love you guys and have an awesome weekend! 💚

    hi.
you could actually remove the roots that is bothering you guys but still have the sycamore tree.
    i found this researching it.
"Tree Root Removal Without Harming the Tree
Sometimes you love the tree in your yard but hate the roots that are tearing up your sidewalk or clogging up the plumbing. So what do you do about them? Can you eliminate these roots without harming your tree?
The answer here is yes. You can trim the roots back and take measures to prevent them from returning in unwanted areas.
    Here’s what you’ll need:
    Water hose
    Hand trowel
Wheelbarrow or tarp to place the dirt
Root saw (basically it is a knife whit big knife teeths)
Material to create a root barrier (plastic, metal, or concrete)
Follow these steps to trim the tree roots and avoid harming your tree:
With supplies ready, start by using your hose to soften the ground with water. You want the ground to be damp, but not soggy.
Next, use the hand trowel to loosen the soil and feel out the roots.
Remove the soil in and around the roots and place it in the wheelbarrow or on the tarp. It’s best to use your hands for this.
Once the area is clear of dirt, cut the roots using your root saw, but be careful.
After you’ve trimmed the roots, dig a trench between them and the area that you don’t want them to go.
Create a barrier at least 12 inches high and 10 inches long using a material like metal, plastic, or concrete, then cover it with soil.
Pat or compact the soil down and spray with water to wet the ground.
A few guidelines to follow so that you don’t damage the tree are:
Don’t cut more than one-third of the roots.
Measure the tree trunk’s diameter, then multiply it by three. That’s as close to the trunk as you want to cut.
Cut only those roots smaller than the size of a fist.
Do not cut any more than 25% from one side."
basically, remove dirt to expose the root you want to cut then cut it whit a big sharp knife then place a barrier of some kind infront off the root, put dirt on the barrier and then water it and you are done.
    hope this helps :)
