You are spot on with everything you said. Only thing I would add is that politics in the hospital can be unfavorable for security. Security is viewed as expendable. Many hospitals won't have your back. You'll be lucky to be part of a union. Many nurses will be having a pleasant conversation with while writing you up for some lame reason "because they can." The subculture is pretty hostile in a hospital.
I am an in-house security officer at a pretty large hospital. Definitely everything you mentioned!

Thank you! I agree that there can be toxicity in some healthcare cultures. The key is to get support from the C-Suite of the organization. If there is no support from the top, it can become very difficult to operate an effective security program. I have always been a staunch advocate for the departments I have led and I always begin by earning respect and support from the C-Suite and standing behind my team 100% no matter what. Even with all of those efforts, there were still times when difficult situations would emerge that had to be handled. It's a delicate balancing act... Thanks again for your feedback!

I did 2 years of mall security and joined hospital security and it’s definitely been a great experience and lot of good people. I’d do much homework as possible before apply.

I retired after 17 years of security in a state hospital. We were fortunate to be in house and covered under the state police retirement pension. I got out a little early to enjoy life, but still miss some aspects of the job. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a career with great benefits and challenge.

Never worked security at a hospital but have done plenty of IFTs as a paramedic. Hospitals are wild lol.
Btw, really love the channel. I work security at a military base and have planned to make this my career and the federal system kind of makes it easy with decent benefits, retirement, training, etc.
However most on the contract/private side seem to get out due to pay, lack of benefits, lack of training, and lack of upward/horizontal movement amongst other things. A lot seem to not know about the vast opportunities and different ways to move about within the security field. So it’s nice to see a channel like yours providing insight into that for those within the field that may feel stuck in a “dead end” field or for those who may want to explore a different career field.
Definitely keep up the good work and I definitely plan on sharing these videos to those I know that want to elevate their security careers.

Thank you very much! I'm glad you're enjoying my channel! The federal system is a great way to go and has solid benefits with a great pension program. And yes, the goal of my channel is to do exactly as you described- to provide the insights to help people identify the best opportunities for development and promotion. There's good opportunities out there, but it's not always easy to find them if you don't know what to look for... Thanks again for your support and feedback!

I was wondering if I can talk to you 1:1. I’m currently working for a in house security team in the hospital. I wanted to ask you a couple of questions if possible regarding administration questions. Please let me know, this 1:1 would help a lot. Thank you.

The unarmed guards I've seen in hospitals are a joke. All they do is lock, unlock, & make sure locked doors are still locked. The picture you paint is totally unrealistic to the hospital guard I see in the hospitals in my area.

Clearly you haven't seen a busy hospital system, you probably live in a tiny, desolate area....

@@xxx-jw4ur No. I live in the second largest city in my state. The health care industry is anti gun. There might be a few hospitals that have armed security, that's the exception not the rule! I'd have to see it to believe it!
