The orifice tube. It has a tiny hole that separates the high pressure from the low pressure. Refrigerant on one side of the tube is high pressure and on the other side of the tube the pressure drops. That's one of the ways the cold is created.
Any idea as to why mine blows cold sitting parked and as soon as I go to drive it starts to heat up? Turn it off for a few minutes and back on and it blows cold for a few minutes and heats back up if i’m driving.. Stays cold if I’m parked..
Might be a pressure issue or if everything seems fine with the engine compartment side of things then your problem might be a “blend door” it’s blends the cold and warm air together to get specific temps but they get all wacky so you might want to look into that as well
@@MattsShop Thanks. I just bought Chevy truck #14 (currently have 5), also my dad was a mechanic for 55 years, and a big Chevy guy. I'm also $Matt$ too
Update: There is a high pressure switch on the back of the comp. Just like on the 5.7 and 4.3. Bad news is it's leaking, and this compressor is in a terrible location.
I need a video on why the 2009 chevy silverado stumbles with and without a/c on ar idle and rarely when driving. More when a/c is on. Would compressor be going bad? Need plug and wires?
@@savageness9587 i took it to a place they broke the high pressure valve then all the from came out and I refilled it and it started to blow cold but the next day it was not working again so I think I have a leak somewhere

How in the world do they put a low pressure and high pressure Schrader valve next to each other?

Well crap, you were right both valves are leaking. Thanks !
Yup, they always do.
Don’t forget those R12 to R134A adapters that leak also.
My truck is leaking air from inside where the connection goes into the fire wall any idea how to fix that?
What’s seal called behind the ac accumulator ?
What terminals do you put the jumper wire in? In your video you only show the jumper wire in one terminal.
You jump the connector with a piece of wire. It's just a simple pressure switch.
@MattsShop what happens if I jump it and it blows my 10amp fuse for the compressor. ? .

But where is the High pressure switch? Do they have one? I know the top mounted compressors have them on the back side of the compressor
This is the only pressure switch I know on these truck's AC. The only other connector is on the AC compressor. It turns the compressor on.

In my 2004 Chevy Avalanche, i have 2 electrical connectors .Why is that and will it matter which one connected??
Just use the plug that was plugged up to the pressure switch when you took it apart. The other plug is extra.
@MattsShop the black plug is in there
And what is the extra plug in hanging by the ac pressure switch have the same on hanging on my 05 tahoe
It's not used. It's an extra wire for some other make/model.

IAC maybe EGR valve check vacuum hoses if not that plug and wires
I put Freon in and ac clutch wants to engage but doesn’t and then the ac condenser/ accumulator does not turn cold it’s hot to the touch
The charge is probably too low.
@@MattsShop on the Freon bottle it said 50psi
