The AHRS (attitude) portion of this device recently saved a young pilot’s life in California. He lost all engine and electrical power and therefore his G1000 screens while in IMC. He used his IPad and the attitude indicator on ForeFlight to safely navigate out of the clouds and make a safe off field landing saving he and his passengers lives. AHRS is definitely not a gadget. Great video! Switzerland looks so beautiful from the air.
I just got the Sentry Plus for my ForeFlight App which I use for both business flights (Global Express) and private flights in the UK & USA. This video helped enormously on the operation of Sentry Plus thank you.
4:45 A note on the GPS, it also supports WAAS (Wide Area Augmentation System) which is available in most of North America. The GPS uses the WAAS calibration data that the FAA broadcasts to get a more accurate location fix. According to the FAA most mobile devices actually utilize WAAS calibration data too.
For a while, I was considering to buy such a device. Thanks to your video, I finally order Sentry Plus. I'm dying to try it during my next flight. Thank you Simon for your very interesting and very well done videos : great job !
Hi and thanks for the Video. Just to understand the logic in EU. We see adsb out and flarm traffic. But most GA airplanes in EU still fly only on Mode s TXponder. These will not be displayed, correct?
Definitely! Same circumstance here and the the portable unit is a reasonable expense because of the extra assurance, insurance, redundancy. I was relying on better traffic information provided by the portable unit during a practice instrument approach.
Then sentry looks great however it requires foreflight I’m not convinced in Australia at least that foreflight is better than our EFB OzRunways. The Deal breaker is no ADSB out and limited to foreflight. Skyecho 2 which I have is a cheap alternative to an ADSB out transponder and in my opinion all approved ECD should be mandated for use in Australia if you don’t have and ADSB transponder the sooner everyone starts using these the better and safer our sky’s will be. I no everyone talks about affordability but seriously if you can’t afford a sky echo u can’t afford to fly. The sentry is not for me thanks for the review it was great
Damn, not even the weather here in EU. That's a deal breaker for me I think, you not only don't see all of the traffic but not even the weather. Ugh, why are we here in EU so far behind the states in this??

Hast Du das Sentry Plus mal mit dem SkyEcho 2 vergleichen können?
Hi! Leider nicht, hab den SkyEcho 2 noch nie verwendet…
Super Review, danke dafür!
east asia can support ?
My airplane already has adsb in and out build into my 375 gps wondering would this device be worth buying for me

Does it need a yearly subscription, if you don't use FLARM?
Hi! No you won‘t need one in this case 😉
Did you try Stratux?
Not yet 😉
Good video thanks

NOT HAPPY Poor GPS antenna receiver - it looses signal all the time - not worth the purchase - it is so bad that my iPad GPS antenna is better -
You cut the girlfriend out of the frame.
