    Isn’t it amazing how God created the earth and everything in it to work in such completeness and harmony? The older I get, the more I have come to _really_ stand in awe at the majesty of God’s created world. God bless you both, your families, and your loved ones! Thank you for your care ✝️🤗🥰

    Got it! I’ll make those measurement adjustments when I start the mix next week. You are right! …it is called operational error…I botch up things all the time even if I follow directions…like my sourdough dinner rolls. Anna was so perfect in her instruction but I botched up the rising time. Mine tasted good but they were a sorry sight compared to Anna’s. Thank you for your close eye on the seed mixture matter…

    I've been seed starting for years with over the counter seed starting mixes. The last 2 years I had spotty success as I noticed the mix had declined in quality. I used 2 different brands so I can't be down on just one brand. I used your mix this year-- For coco coir I used a triple washed( said so on the bag) coco coir, I omitted the blood meal, and used what I had for the "endo " mix which was Bio Coat Gold. I've read and been told that the " endo" mycorrhiza does not benefit brassica's and that may be true but I have best plant starts I've ever had: broccoli, cauliflower, kohlrabi, 4 types of lettuce, chatd, spinach, 2 types of cabbage, eggplant, and now tomatoes! Thank you for the mix recipe and the tip on the importance of keeping the planting medium moist!

    You can't think of everything as you're making a video... In other words, you shouldn't feel bad about the previous video!!! You're taking time out of your day to try and help others be prolific with their gardening. Yes, each of us are on different levels as far as or experience, but you're helping those of us still learning to catch up 😉. I am extremely grateful for your advice as I know or soil is lacking in nutrients (the reason I feel the general population isn't as healthy as we once were). I love that you take the time to explain how each of the amendments ie calcium, potassium, phosphorus, sulfur and so on help. This information is extremely important in the growth and development of plants. A video explaining the breakdown of each of the amendments that can by used would be awesome!!! How and why we should use each.... I've been keeping notes with each of your videos as you give tidbits of info!!!💚💚💚💚

      Love your comment! ☺️ We've been thinking about doing a video series on the many different amendments, explaining what they are and how to use them. Takes a lot of time, so we haven't committed to it yet. UA-cam doesn't pay well, at least not yet, so we need to keep running our other businesses to keep the cash flow going. 🤗 Blessings!

      Just think how God spoke the universe into existence but He planted a garden with His hands, He made the perfect habitation for His creature man,there could not have been a more perfect place for man,so it's no wonder we enjoy a nice garden, another interesting thing is is that we were made out of the dust of the ground so I've been amazed at how similar our needs are like the needs of a plant,minerals are soooo important to our well being and modern farming has wasted the minerals and used them up,I read something like 50% less minerals in our soils today than 50 years ago,something like that if I remember right now the ground is just a growing medium to hold the plants upright while the farmer pours his chemical concoctions on it to produce a look a like plant that is devoid of nutrients! So sad! Man just messes everything up,God makes everything perfect! Have a wonderful day and thank you for watching our videos!

    Thank you. I was wondering when I was watching your pea video and planting. What you would do if you mixed up too much and I thought I would just save till I fertilize again is that something that can be done or will it mold like this also. And thank you for adjusting for us people that don’t know what we are doing. You do make it seem possible to do and thank you God is good

      Yes, there are two distinct mixes, that's why there are two different names; potting mix and starting mix. The first one should have way more nutrients in it than the second one. Blessings! 😊

    The mould issue would happen in my experience even without the amendments if the mix is wet and doesn’t have ventilation.

    Thank you! I think it was in your planting in the garden video you used gypsum. Is that the same as what is between the paper in drywall? Thank you so much for all of your hard work. God Bless!

      Yes it was gypsum, but I'm sure the gypsum in sheetrock has lots of other additives that you don't want in your soil😟... like fiberglass.

    Was it mold or mycorrhiza that they was seeing? If they plant seeds right after mixing it would burn up the seedlings since the amendments are breaking down. Give it at least 3 weeks before planting in. Just my two cents

    Oh man..Thank you so much, I literally did exactly what you did minus the 2” fish meal. I only had an 1” left. Oh and I forgot the vam, along with a 2” dome with no vents. Eh there was a couple times the thermostat got up to 80. It has been 4 days and nothing, I have noticed a couple specs of mold yesterday. No growth beside mold bacteria lol. I was going to do another one with less water. I think most the water is coming from the humidity though since I didn’t put as much water in as requested. I ordered better 1020 trays with the better 2” domes from list above. I may just order the 7” ones, might be a better air flow ratio? I’m actually thinking of making an incubator like what’s in the shop there. I may slap one together this weekend.

      Sounds like you're making progress! Did your seeds germinate yet?
      Do you think your soil was too warm or too cold on average? What kind of seeds are you starting? 😊

    • @kenkerr7048
      @kenkerr7048 8 місяців тому +1

      @@GardeningHomesteadingWoodworkso I think it was a combination of things, I altered the ingredients as you specified in video and I got a 90% germination rate. I had the starts in my garage and it tends to get hot in there. It got up to 80 and 84 at one point. So I changed everything to our spare bedroom that we have stay cool because we do not keep the heat on in there. So I believe it may have been to hot of soil along with a hot mix. Also i have to admit I didn’t really clean the trays from last germination. I got new trays too, from the mega store. They are way better and the lids fit better as well. You can def tell from the cheaper stuff.

    I’m going to try this. I have used Jiffy Natural and Organic seed starting mix from Walmart. It has OMRI listed on the bag. I have only been starting my own seeds for the last 4 years, but this year is the worst. The seeds are not germinating well. I think I still have enough time to try again. Mother’s Day weekend is usually when our last frost is. I live in Colorado at 7000 ft altitude, high desert. Definitely a challenge. One question I have is what causes flowers on the tomato plant to fall off??

    Maybe you should add this to the list of common myths: I’ve heard many times that seedlings don’t need nutrition until they’re transplanted.
    That might be ok for a cucumber but I can’t imagine that being true for a tomato or pepper. Thanks for the recipe.

    So would it be ok to store minerals in like a plastic container in a dry room temperature place? Maybe some holes in lid to get airflow?

    • @GardeningHomesteadingWoodwork
      @GardeningHomesteadingWoodwork  8 місяців тому +1

      As long as the minerals are dry you shouldn't have any problems at all,mine are just stored in a barn that's open. If the minerals have been mixed with other ingredients such as peatmoss or? then that's a different story.
