  • This is a run down on my prep process for new brass. The purpose of this brass prep is just to get the brass ready for fire forming. I will not be making loads intended for any type of accuracy with the first shot fired. That will come after the brass is fired formed.

    I am amazed that you do all of that to Lapua Brass. There are competition long range shooters that buy this brass because they say that the brass is so good, they don't have to do all the processing. I have done all you are doing and even weighed and sorted cases but only on less expensive brass that is not as uniform. More power to you, but when I pay for premium brass that is supposed to be good to go, I will not be doing all the case prep I do on cheaper brass. Nice video, always good to see what others do when they are reloading. We all have our own idea of what we need to do or not.

      I do it to make sure that everything is as consistent as possible. I know that it may be a bit overkill, but it gets me results that I am more than happy with.
      Thanks for watching!

    Great video....have you remeasured case length again as a last in process as seen another video where the brass "grows" after each stage of the prep stage ...was interesting

      @@ianschultz9383 my apologies. I misread you post. I have done that. For "new brass prep" I am not concerned. I always fire form the brass before doing set loads.

    Do you notice velocities increase slightly with fire formed brass?

      To be honest, I have not really tested that out. It is just something that I have always done for the sake of being consistent. And usually I have always fired new brass when breaking in the barrel of a new rifle. The 6.5 Creedmoor that I have has the most firings on one barrel and I have not yet worn out the brass.

    What number headspace comparator insert you using? 420?

    • @mattsreloadingbench
      @mattsreloadingbench  Рік тому +1

      I do not use an actual head space comparator. I just use a bullet comparator. LOL
      I keep spending my money on other stuff.

    Your videos would be much more enjoyable if you ... did. not. make. a. point. of. clearly. enunciating. every. single. syllable. of. every. single. word. Just talk like a normal human being!
