The Court has just , inadvertently, given the Executive branch (the President) extreme power.
They have given the power to the President to overrule the Court if he is acting in his "official capacity"!
There are credible allegations of corruption, accepting undeclared gifts (bribes), involvement in the insurrection attempt, a failure to recuse when required, perverting the intention of the Constitution and perjuring themselves during their confirmation hearings.
Given the new authority granted to the President, he could, in consultation with the White House lawyers and the Attorney General (advise that cannot be looked at now), declare them a threat to the national security of the nation and remove the Justices from office!

It is a common misconception, led by people who should know better, that the American Revolution was against the power of English King George III.
George III was a Parliamentary Monarch whose power was greatly prescribed and diminished by the English Parliament. ALL the problems American colonists had... taxation, representation, etc were under the purview of the English Parliament and a few powerful politicians and merchants, NOT the King.
This leads, in turn, to the myth that US democracy is safe in the hands of elected politicians, rather than a single "King". This myth is close to being busted.

Pretty sure there is a different set of rules where Biden is concerned. They are just salivating at the thought of a Biden trying to fight this or do anything and try to call it official. Only Trump will be allowed to call anything he does official. He’s already using it to get out of being sentenced in July. I have a feeling that judge in that case knew exactly what was coming and he just played along to make it appear like Trump was being held accountable just like anyone else would. If not why didn't he set sentencing for an earlier date, instead of the date right after the Supreme Court would be ruling.

This decision has been lambasted by historians and legal experts for limiting checks on presidential power. These judges themselves cited their interpretation of the Constitution as their reason for overruling Roe v. Wade, yet there is no basis for presidential immunity like this that they themselves have created conferred by our Constitution. I don't see how you can claim that "they're just doing their job" when it's abundantly clear that this ruling is a complete mockery of the checks and balances established in our government. It's out of this world honestly

Del, I have been abdicating for a constitutional amendment saying "Separation of Coporate and State" for decades now. It would solve SO many of our problems.
It's the nature of a presidential republic to risk falling into authoritarianism. It's happened to most of these types of governments which are almost all of Central and South America, based on the early US model. Also Belarus, Syria, Turkey and Iran, and much of Africa. It's a flawed system. Parliamentary Republics tend to be healthier democracies. It's not something people tend to talk about much because it's a core flaw/risk in the US government structure. There are other advantages to be fair, but better systems have been implemented since America has been founded. Not to even mention the undemocratic Senate. We can gnaw around the edges, but it's a structural problem. We need to stop treating the founding fathers as gods but people who did the best inventing a new system, which should not be thought of as written in stone.

This goes far deeper than anger. Can a President even be impeached as high crimes and misdemeanors would be excused under immunity????? To give one individual that much power is insane. Don't know about others but this scares me..
