Great lookin cooker. I love to build these things. I like to watch other builders such as yourself to get little tips and tricks. I'm building one now that's 3/8" and holy crap is this thing heavy. I probably won't have any blowouts, though. Great video, my friend. Keep building, and I'll keep watching.
I’ve seen Allen form Allens welding / woodworking do doors like that. I’ve cut the opening out on the end of the chamber where the fire box is going to go and slid in, welded some straps in where the door is going to be, if you make some of the cuts and shine a light on the outside of the chamber you can see where the door will be, this really helps with the door springing when you make the final cuts but believe me it’s a very messy job with all the oil and grease that’s in there with it being a compressor tank, but well worth it in the end.
@@SD-rq2ob I’ll have to look back into Allen’s videos to see. I know he does octagon chambers that are similar but can’t remember a tank build. I did weld in some crappy braces on the inside of the door prior to cutting out but they were only small chunks of square tubing and not contoured to the inside radius at all. So only 6-points of contact. Rookie move on my part. You nailed it on the head with the messy job comment! Not fun. Thanks for the feedback!
I rarely use a top shelf while cooking and the cook chamber is relatively short in height. not worth it in my opinion but I'm also bias towards no upper shelf :)
Thanks for the video. As a hobby builder myself I like these for tips and tricks and ideas. Keep them coming and thanks for posting. Be safe

@@4seasonsbbq I appreciate it! My next build is 3/8” thick as well. A trailer rig. Will be interesting for sure. Good luck on your build!
