    Cool car, great video! It is so cool that you find these weird, offbeat cars! That Cadillac 390 couldn't be the original engine, the 390 didn't come out until 59 or 60. I suppose it could have originally had a Caddy 331, which would still give great performance. WYR= I'd take any of 'em, but I've heard that the fiberglass on the Woodill was extremely thin and easily cracked or broken. NTT= I wouldn't have gotten that one.

  • @josephrouleau1205
    @josephrouleau1205 18 днів тому +1

    This is a beautiful car. It has obviously been repowered since Cadillac didn't offer the 325 HP 390 until 1968. Cadillac also only had dual four barrel carbs in 1955-1957. With that engine,( which certainly sounds and idles like it does not have a stock Cadillac Cam) and dual 4 barrels, It probably has close to 375 or more HP. Even it if weighs 2,300 lbs., it must be faster than God. Did you find out what it used for a transmission and rear end?
    I love these presentations, especially with super rare vehicles like these. Good Job.

    Fiberglass was the carbon fiber of 1950ties without the excessive price tag. At the time there were still companies putting together cars from components coming from different manufacturers providing own body.

    Nice looking car, don't know why they didn't equip it with a trunk. Although Corvette would be my first choice. Vettes are the sexiest cars ever built, at least up until the 80s

  • @P_RO_
    @P_RO_ 18 днів тому +1

    With 325 ponies in a 2K lb car you'd smoke whoever pulled up next to you at the light 😎 The Caddy engine was much desired among hot-rodders of the time with 'speed' parts available. The bumper might be a custom job built from parts then chromed' can't remember ever seeing one like it. There will always be debate whether the custom and low-number builds are truly production cars compared to the Vette.
    WYR this Glasspar wins, but the Volvo 1900 has more 'brand identity'; I'd have either. And even this die-hard Ford fan loves the earliest Vettes.

    Small correction. Costa Mesa is pronounced 'Coast-a May-sa'.
    That Glasspar has been seriously re-powered. Although the OHV Cadillac V8 dates back to 1949, in 1952, it would have been 331 c.i. The Cadillac 390 V8 wasn't introduced until the 1963 model year. Who knows what that car originally came with, but if with the 331, exterior dimensions being the same, a swap to the 390 wouldn't be a problem. They could have also upgraded to the 429 without much problem. But, hopefully the chassis can atleast handle the 390. Because of being a thin-wall casting, the 429 wouldn't have been a good idea.

    It's a Shame that Cadillac, since it made the Engines, didn't buy the Rights to sell them as the Eldorado Two Seater Sports Car, beating Chevy by a year with the 1953 Corvette.
    That Caddy Engine must make the car fly.
