I recently got 8 of these for my 15g and I love them. They use the entire tank. They stay in a group but one or two will split off at pretty much all times and adventure my live plants then return to the group.
A month ago I bought 6 of these. Sadly they got sick and ultimately 5 of them passed away. I removed the other fish in the tank to another aquarium. Few days later I started seeing lots of tiny fries. I quickly found how to make infusoria and now a month and a week later they’re little but so much fun to watch. Can’t wait to see them all grown up.
These little guys are on my future fish list for sure. I think they would be awesome in heavily planted, species only aquarium. Thanks as always for the wonderful content and bringing a little more happiness into my day!
I saw somebody who was colony breeding these fairly successfully. He did say that yes, he could get a bigger yield if he pulled eggs and raised fry seperately, but that he is getting enough that make it to adulthood that keeps his colony growing and that he would rather do it that way. I didn't know that you could colony breed them. I thought that was pretty cool. Either way, they are gorgeous little fish and on my bucket list for sure. 👍❤👍

Thanks for uploading. I have never considered rasboras before but after watching this video I think this species is going to be next on my purchase list!
I have a few things to say about this adorable little fish: 1) I love how a fish that is so small has two names but two names that are so "Galactically" cool (Is that term in the Webster's dictionary? Oh well, I have my own terminology 😁) 2) I love my Dad .. HOWEVER, as his oldest child it is my obligation to torment him whenever I can. I showed him a picture of this fish before he had his first cup of coffee and he says "what is that? What happened to that trout??"😀 His favorite fish to go fishing for is trout so I made sure that I could rub it in that " No, sorry you can't eat this one" 🤣 It's only about inch and a half 2 in at most. So I don't think you're going to get a meal out of that 🤩
I’ve been trying to keep these fish for quite a while now. Not the best success but I finally got 2 to survive to adulthood and they’re so beautiful. I now have 7 in a qt tank that so far are also doing great. Next step is breeding! I think now I wasn’t crushing their food enough (at all) or they had disease and slowly died off.
I have been looking to get some of these for over a year now. Very hard to find in my area of Canada. I finally found 13 of them and I love them, they are an amazing little fish. As always great info Jason, in a language that even an old guy like me can understand 😎👍

I have a 29 gallon and i wanna keep a apistogramma and a clown pleco, would it be a good idea to keep a school of these guys or should i go with zebra danios instead?
Thanks for the video, LOVE LOVE LOVE the celestial pearls. I have found it really hard to keep a constant supply of live microfoods and have found it much better to feed golden pearl fry powder with the occasional boiled egg yolk.
I have seven w/ a few embers in a ten gallon, it's pretty heavily planted, and they seem pretty spooky when I approach the tank. I absolutely love them, but wish they weren't so spooky. They eat anything and everything!
I just got mine from Flip Aquatics about a month ago. Two of them have very colorful fins, so I'm assuming they're males, but they're not showing the slate blue coloration I've seen on internet pics. Could it be that they're jus not old enough yet? Both my background and substrate are black.
I've only seen that blue coloration on mine when I'm shining a flash light in the tank looking for fry and the bright light reflects on them. Could be that the photos you've seen used flash?
I've bred thousands. The first food I use is micro worms. Never had problems with needing smaller foods than that. Other dwarf rasboras like 'emerald dwarf rasboras' CELESTICHTHYS ERYTHROMICRON do need smaller foods but cpd's do great on micro worms.
So i have a 60 liter planted aquarium And have mollys , Endlers,l144,snails,shrimp,neon tetraan 1 betta female can i add 15 galaxy rasboras in thé tank ?
At the MCAS meeting yesterday a lady spoke about how to breed egg layers and scatterers including these. I would get these if i had room. They are so pretty
Did your cpd get on with your green kubotai rasbora? I only ask as I had 17 cpd and then added 10 green kubotai rasbora in with them in a heavily planted 4ft low boy. The cpd got harassed so much by the green kubotai they weren't getting any food. Got a 10 gallon and removed the surviving 4 cpd and got 11 more cpd and put them in the 10 gallon with a male dragon betta with no issues

Best looking true nano fish in the hobby, with one downside: feeding them is a nightmare!.. Ive bought 12 two weeks ago, put them in a heavily planted established tank, perfect water parameters and the only thing Ive seen them eat so far is live baby brine, every other food, tried almost all nano food available in Europe from JBL, Dennerle, Oase, Hikari, Sera, Tetra and Prodac, they swim to it, look at it for half a second and swim away.. They dont eat from the top and they dont eat from the bottom and Ive resorted to overfeeding my tank just to give them more chances. Got some NLS 0.5 on the way perhaps that will do the trick xD

Really pretty looking little fish. I will be setting up a 54 litre tank (I think that’s about 14 to 15 US Gallons) so they might just be a perfect fit 👌
Do you think 6 CPDs, 6 chili rasboras and 6 Pygmy cats would be too much for a 10 gallon shallow? 23x14x7 I have a Fluval 307 on it so filtration is great.
Jason, I want to keep some celestial pearl danio in a tank with cherry shrimp. I thought about putting a couple of endlers in for dither fish. Will the CPD eat the endler babies? I don't mind putting a couple of female endlers in there but it's only a 15 gallon tank and I don't want it over run with endlers. Or should I just get 2-3 male endlers and call it good.
I haven't had much luck with these fish, and I would bet money on them being super stressed and just a bad batch from the pet store, but exactly how much would tannins affect these fish? My other parameters are within their zones except I've been reading about not including driftwood that leech tannins. I wouldn't think it would kill the fish, but the only other thing I can think of is I only had about 6 in my 40 gal with some harley rasboras. Thanks for any info you can provide, I love watching your videos!
Tannins can help, but we actually keep ours at a pH of 8 with hard water (so near the limits of their range) with no issues. Part of it may be the source?

Every time people hear nano fish they try put them in as small tank as possible which is really stupid . The smaller tank the harder is to keep water parameters stable . One has to be realy experienced to keep fish healthy and not stressed in such a small amount volume of water .
I found this to be true as well until I quit using gravel and switched to a deep sand substrate. I have all nano tanks, from a 6 gallon to a 9 and up to a 10 gallon. My 6 and 9 can now go months without water changes, just top offs. Father Fish channel...
My favorite nano fish! I especially like that they settle all disagreements with a dance off instead of fighting. Fun to watch.

Trying to find them in a store ugh
Keep in mind that they are carnivorous fish so. Feeding them a mix of dry and frozen food is great. If you want to breed them, feeding them a lot of brine shrimp will definitely help!

Saul Goodman is this you ?
It should be noted that these are Danios and not Rasboras. Galaxy Rasbora is an outdated and incorrect common name for them, CPD replaces it.
The Galaxy Rasbora is by far the more common name though.

Will they eat my guppy fry?
Probably not - they’re really small.
So are they technically rasboras or danios? And why do they have two names that are both so commonly used? Lol
Ahhh, so you're the reason Aqua Huna has CPD stocking hiccups, lol.
These little guys have become quite expensive.
They sure can be!
