  • Not all bore sighting tools are created equal and in this video, I demonstrate how buying cheaper Amazon products can be a waste of your time and money.
    Diving into the world of gun ownership can be overwhelming especially when you want to upgrade parts of your firearm such as your sights to increase accuracy. While some Amazon products may claim to work with all variants and bore sizes of firearms I found this to be untrue. Performing more in-depth research and spending a little more money will save you the time and frustration of having to do it a second time as you will see in this video.
    While most iron sights of handguns can be sighted in by eye and tested at the range a good laser bore sighting tool will let you know that you are darn near close to hitting dead center mass before your get there.

    I bought one of the "bullet" types for my Glock 27 and it worked just fine. of course, I made sure that my slide went into battery so I could get a good read with it. Now the only problem that I see with those is that there is some play while the cartridge is in the chamber. if you remove the laser and put it back in, you'll get a different boresight. I guess it's meant to get you "close enough" to be effective and not turn your pistol into a sniper, lol.

    Yes when you drop the bore sight in you will have to rack the Chamberfor the indicator to pop up

    I bought one of those 9mm cartridge style bore sighters too. Same issue. Slide wouldn't go all the way back into battery. I just went ahead and bought a g-sight training laser since I wanted one anyway. It was $40 and I can use it to sight in my 9mm and I can use it for training. Only caveat is it's caliber specific. But with the price of ammo these days I think I definitely got my money's worth.

    You realize you can insert the laser into the extractor, from the top, same way you would if you wanted to load a single round with 1 mag, the size doesn’t matter because the extractor is spring loaded and can be opened to insert correctly.

    Pretty decent on a 30-06 bullet style I zeroed at 100 and beat down some golf balls, red and goes over 300 yards but at 300 it’s hard get centered but still would hit a water melon if took time to put crosshairs in center prob been good

    What true glow sites did you Used to replace The factory ones on your SD9VE??

    • @TheChemistDIY
      @TheChemistDIY  2 роки тому

      Here you go Steve.. As I'm slowly finding out the slide on SD9VE is going to be the same as SD9 and SD40. 40 being a slightly bigger barrel size.. The VE model just has the LCI on top and additional safety features to be California compliant.

    Couldnt you slide lock then justbut the laser in the barrel amd then close it?

    • @TheChemistDIY
      @TheChemistDIY  Рік тому

      Yes and no. While the Lazer round would fit in the barrel when you return the slid to the home position the extractor would push up against the back of the round. This may or may not affect the angling of the Lazer to a small degree.

    But the first bore sight would work with 1911’s because the barrel does not bend up when slightly out of battery….

    • @TheChemistDIY
      @TheChemistDIY  Рік тому

      I don't think it would. A 9mm casing is a set standard that all extractors using this caliber are set to. Since the rim is thicker than the standard then in theory it shouldn't fit any firearm chambered in 9mm.

  • @lazarus1867

    Omg smh they are stupid proof!! Just slam the slide down like normal quit worrying about it breaking it will chamber and eject just fine...
    I've boughten many brands from cheap to pricy on Amazon cuz I keep losing the damn things through out the years... but I've never had one fail to chamber expect when I babied the slide into battery just like what happens with a normal round... the only thing thats sucks with these Amazon 9mm bore sighters. Is the batteries 9/10 suck and die with n 15 minutes.
    And btw the laser dot absolutely did not "line up perfectly with ur factory installed sights"
    Smh...

  • @genegleason4987

    Take the second one tested, rotate the laser end of it slowly while laser is on . Make sure the lose dot on wall remains in same place. The Allen wrench sent in box is to adjust laser to center. Impossible if it is off center . That’s the flaw with this type, once it’s off center needs to go back for factory calibration. They will say you tried to adjust it, voiding warranty. Another piece of CHICOM junk

  • @920WASHBURN
    @920WASHBURN Рік тому

    First off why would they put a rim on it? Second wouldn't it make more sense to make it fit in the end of the barrel?

      I think it was mostly the Kool factor, You know.. Wow, look, it's an actual boar-sighting tool that looks and functions like a 9mm round.. Oh and look, you can actually chamber it with the mag too.
      A few have suggested just racking it like a man and forcing it to feed but I'm good with that. I'm not about to mistakenly ruin my $500 firearm for a $9 toy round when I know perfectly well it does not fit. I'd rather sand down the backend of the cartridge an mm or two to insure proper fitment.. It's about being a smart man.. not a caveman. Remember, we're playing with a device that can take lives. That said, they do make a lipstick version as you suggested (no rim) of this and in high sight, I should have gone with that, but I fell for the WOW factor.. lol.

      I'm taking it you speak from experience right?
      Good to know but on that token, that's a lot of shaving and work for a part that's only $9. I would be pretty upset to do all that extra work, chamber it, and then find out the Lazer is inaccurate..lol.. would be just me luck too.. much easier to return and look elsewhere.
      All that said.. I'm going to let out a little secret here. After contacting the seller and posting a negative review and requesting a refund.. he/she not only gave me the refund but didn't want the product back!
      And with that said.. maybe I just may test out your file theory and post a video on that.. I don't expect that video to get a lot of traction but at least it will be out there if the same happens to others and they get to keep it as well.. I mean what else am I going to do with it.. let kids play with it and see who burns their eyes 👀 out first..lol

    I think you can still get away with using the thicker rimmed bore laser if you just simply push on the back of the extractor and force it to lift up and over that rim so it can at least seat all the way so the entirety of the barrel is locked into place and lined up properly, even if the extractor does not sink into the recessed portion of the back of the shell, as long as the entire Barrel is locked into place properly.
