The machine tested here is the 2022Triton 300 SE 16 inch though which has 2 so-dimm slots of ddr5. There’s a good video by Matthew Moniz on this one and the 14 inch version where he shows them with the bottom panel removed and compares them with the 500SE. I have to agree the soldered RAM on the Triton 500SE is stupid for a 16 inch machine and that’s why this one, the 300SE is so much better.
Yeah I'm wondering if this is the best deal right now at Costco for gaming laptops. 600 off or 800 off from the Acer website listed price. Seems like a good deal compared to other Costco laptops right now.
@Ammon Simmons - I really like the look and keyboard of the Lenovo Legion 5 series, but this Acer is the best bang for the buck. The 3070 Ti is the 115w variant, which is decent but not as good as the full fat 140w version, but oh well. 256-bit bus makes up for it. Costco doubles the 1 year warranty and if you buy it even in part with the Costco Visa card you get another 24 months of warranty extension. So for 4 years warranty and sub $1400 price tag, I think Costco wins. At least that’s how I’m justifying the purchase. :)
is it possible to undervolt or underclock intel anymore? my 8th gen i7 was a problem until i capped the boost clock and undervolted it, been great since but with a speaker ded and fan grinding itself im sadly due for a new laptop
What is the memory that is used? DDR5 but what MHz? If I want to upgrade the memory, what is the model number of the memory compatible with this? Don't have the laptop in my possession as of yet, planning ahead lol
4800 but that is pretty standard for SO-DIMM and can be user upgraded on the 300 SE 16” model, so when 6000+ MT/s SO-DIMM becomes more available you can upgrade.
SO... Lenovo is the only one who knows how to do ports on a gaming laptop. Good to note. Since this is terrible, you have all of those lanes and you don't use them. THOUGH, the microSd reader front and off-center is great. THOUGH, if you're going to put it on a daughter board like that, probably could go full.
Probably. Anything that runs on Windows (Ableton, FL Studio, Cubase, Pro Tools, Bitwig Studio, etc.) do run on this. Only Logic Pro is macOS exclusive.
Needs to be about 33% less expensive. Decent chassis & screen, I'd consider it, even at that price, with Phoenix 8 core & 4060/4070. Not interested in Intel.
Never buy a higher end gaming laptop with a screen smaller than 17'3. Never buy a higher end gaming laptop with higher resolution than FHD. Keep these in mind and see your purchase live through a decade.
Unless you're considering this Predator gaming laptop because you want to play AAA Windows games... The MacBook Pro is fantastic, but it's not a gaming laptop.
I have both and Lisa is 100% right - the MacBook Pro is great for creators, pretty good for productivity like coding and whatnot, and just okay to meh for gaming. You have to buy a CrossOver or Parallels license to play many/any AAA titles, and many still won’t work. Sucks.
@@TheMaxAwesome yeah i hope apple will focus more on gaming with their powerful m series chips. Cause it will be great and many people like me gonna buy mac instead of crappy windows laptops.
i have recently bought 2 of this laptop and both had issues in the corners and the screen was fixed bad in the down side, also it makes a noise always i touch the laptop screen, like a crunch noise, it seems a poor material, are yours having this problems??
Always great to see and hear your updates. Thank you so much. Have a wonderful holiday.
Awesome review bc I wanted to know if memory and SSD are expandable. Thanks.
Happy Xmas and have a good New Year! Thanks for all the great reviews in the last 12 months.
I agree. Here's to Lisa!
This is a superb review. TY.
Hey Lisa, Look at 6:06 there is a ribbon cable with a blue tab not seated correctly.
Alwayas a solid review - thanks Lisa and Happy Holidays!! 🎅🎄
Nice review as always Lisa. Happy Holidays to all!
Thanks…I enjoyed your review. Blessings on your day!
Lisa Thanks Much ! and Merry Christmas!
Glad laptops are getting a bit of bulk back again. Thin laptops, while great for travel, are too flimsy and overheat
For real. Thin and light are great for the business set but if I’m buying a gaming laptop, I want lots of cooling and ample power for the CPU and GPU.
For those who don't know, the 12th gen Acer Predator Triton 500 SE has ALL RAM soldered. No excuse on a 16 inch machine.

@@maximilianillig2144 What are the advantages of the 500se? I know the soldered ram is a shame but wondering what makes it most high-end option.
asus flow x16 have BOTH Ram slots available for switching.. so yeah no excuse acer..
So does all the alienwares
RAM is not soldered in the laptop shown in this video.
While it's probably quite similar in many aspects, I'd take the ASUS ROG Flow X16 over this.
I've not considered the airline power limit before. Not that I'd take my gaming laptop on a flight. But it's interesting anyway.
Can you tell me the model number of the Predator Triton 300 se 16" that has the removable ram in your review?
HOW DOES IT COMPARE TO MSI?
Why can they not make ‘‘em laptops bigger. So better cooling and noice lower.
On sale from Costco for $1400 until Jan 1, and worth picking up to try it out with their 90 day return policy. Ugly to me, but good specs.

This model with 3060 was on sale at Amazon for $1199 💸
@LisaGade- Really...wait a minute, who are you?
I got it for 1,317 British pounds

Only if you have an HK or HX CPU. Otherwise, no.
11th gen and older yes. 12th no unless you have hk or hx
Oh dear mama laptop of utube why u havnt reached a mil subs. but u will. its a cool breaze to see u . i wish u all the best of luck.:)

Will it run a professional DAW ?

What a nice laptop 😍
Yes, indeed it's a great machine by Acer.
I just don't like the screen bezel color.

These laptops have cooling issues and a weird keyboard layout.
That's a mouthful
What is the tdp of the 3070 ti in this laptop?
if it is in the video, I might've missed it, if anyone knows, please let me know
Is acer branding still a thing? Thought it already flopped by now, especially after covid.

So sweet to see you again Lisa how you doing princess I hope you're enjoying your holidays give my love to the family happy to see you again princess
