Great content. I have a friend of mine selling me a reduced for $1,750 good condition unpolished, og bracelet with no box and papers. It’s running well. Is that a good price?
Tried on ATs a black bay 58 ( not on my list but thought I'd take opportunity ) and the outside bet Tag Autavia yesterday. ATs one just fit and felt better. Must say I did like the Autavia too but atm black or grey blue batton Aqua Terras in pole position. Tried a 300M and just too big for me. Had alot of fun!
I'm a proud owner of both watches. Yes, on a first glance they look quite similar. The differences are very subtle. 39mm vs 42mm for the Pro, second-hand subdials are on the opposite sides. Unless you look at it carefully you won't notice. The biggest physical differences you'll notice are the bracelets. Professional has heavier and more solid stainless links with an added bracelet extender. Pro clasps are milled stainless with double push-button release. It just feels quality when you put them on. That said, Reduced is a great watch also. When I want to go a little more subtle I always wear my Reduced. As for manual wind, I love spending little time in the morning winding my manual watches. As for the rest, I have them in watch winders. Professional or Reduced, they're both great watches.
I'm hearing the pushers and the crown don't line up on the Speedy Reduced... but mine do! Does this mean I have a unique model, or is that all just hearsay?
I have an original Speedmaster Reduced ref.3520.53 "Day-Date Mk.40" ('Schumacher') with tritium dial in very good condition, on an Omega bracelet. Any opinions on whether I should I sell or hang on to this?
I would prefer the reduced version because I have a small wrist and I don't like heavy watches. I have been looking for one myself but finding the quality not so good. I think they make either 38 or 39mm automatic in another one but not sure how to find that one.
I have small wrists too. There are many on eBay from Japan. I always worry about buying a fake though. I did buy a Seiko Chrono Solar Recraft last week that is bigger and still looks good on the wrist. The all black and not the blue dial for $135 from a seller in Brooklyn. It came with an additional leather strap. I'll buy the reduced soon though. It is a grail for me.
@@b-rad5855 I would be nervous buying one from another country might be hard to get money back. I hear of eBay scams all the time. I am looking only in the USA. I have not seen any decent quality ones in the USA, most are all beat up. I am not sure how old these are. Let me know if you know, thanks. I bought a Seiko Meca-Quartz with black dial and leather strap from someone in California You got a good deal on the Seiko, that's for sure. Pretty safe buying Seiko on eBay from US sellers. The reduced Omega I also worry about fakes.
im about to buy a speedy reduced , only thing is i hate the way the pushers are, cant beat it though for 1800 or so -the size is also amazing on my wrist and i ike the slight vintage style bracelet
When you said that the standard Speedmaster has a better movement, I initially wanted to argue but it really does make sense. An in-house movement is going to have a lot more attention to detail and personality then an off-the-shelf movement, even if it is one of the better third-party movements available. I objectively like automatic because I can slap it in a winder and not worry about it if it's not going to be worn for a few days, so the reduced really did scratch the itch for an accessible moonwatch. Hopefully once I've got a career and stable finances I can get a regular Speedmaster, but there's no arguing that the Reduced isn't a great watch. I love it so much and the numeric minute markers are really helpful sometimes.
Great video. One good thing about Omega is that they have a lot of spare parts. I took my '58 Constellation in for a service and crystal replacement and my watchmaker was able to service the watch and replace the crystal with and original Omega crystal with no problem.
I prefer smaller if I have a choice. My sweet spot is 40-42 and a Pro would probably fit. But I'm not a big chrono guy and don't love the Speedmaster enough to want to save up or desire the Pro. Reduced satisfies my itch and gives me enough Speedmaster to not leave me wanting more. It is also a driver's watch before it was ever a moon watch!
I would need to try on in person, I am a bigger guy, and like 42s but I maybe can use a reduced as a dress watch or with suit and wear my big watches with t-shirts etc. thank you I will do my research always wanted an omega
I own a Speedmaster Automatic with Date and the professional clasp type of band. I bought it used some years ago and am only now finding out all the differences in the various Speedy offerings. Wasnt really a collector when I bought this one. Still love it and I paid a fair price as well. Funny thing about your Mercedes analogy, I drive a 20 year old AMG C43!! (as well as a everyday 4Runner)…;
You're too cool man, subscribed. Hint - get a Panerai 8 days and your manual wind watch issue will become a joy. A lazy once a week wind up (I do mine every Sunday) and you have an awesome mechanical watch you never have to think about, apart from every lazy Sunday :-)
honestly all i care about is that its automatic. I HATE winding watches too. Id buy the professional if it was auto, but it isn't. So ill probably get the reduced and In my mind its pretty much still the moon watch cuz its a speedy.
I like your AMG explanation, I drive a AMG E63S and tend to buy iconic model watches. I hope you have a good run with your speedy, you mentioned it’s good value, I’ve heard the Chronograph module is more throw away than repairable, if something goes wrong you may have to replace the module making the watch terrible value. Just a word of warning from a seasoned collector. Ps, now that you have the Rolex Explorer you’ll be going the AMG route mark my word! lol
24Hours At A Time Cool you’re a Mercedes man! Only go the AMG if you don’t mind the missus yelling SLOW DOWN! I’m like a kid when I get in that thing, it begs to be driven hard...
Great channel and opinions! I think a big factor in the reduced vs professional argument is the size of course. Which is a shame because you're a bigger guy who could pull off the Moonwatch very well compared to thinwristed twigs like myself and the majority of watch enthusiasts.
Great video. Those are all very good points. I personally like the Mark II. I would need to see one in person, but I like the cushion case. It also has a co-axial Automatic movement that’s COSC certified, sapphire crystal, and 100m wr. Also, I don’t hear or see much about it. Makes it more personally appealing. I have seen some 7750 chronographs for under $1,000 US.
Anti shine TP, best thing when shooting on hot summer days 😂😂👍🏻👍🏻 Trust in your love, it’s working. Good pros for the reduce, which is a classic at its own, beautiful watch which doesn’t need to hide behind its bigger sister👍🏻👍🏻
Have tried the Professional which looks a tad too big for my 6.75inch wrist. The reduced looks too small so, although your video has helped you really can’t make the decision without trying both models on and comparing them side by side I think.
Hi. I have the exactly same situation. With 6.5 inch wrist I was more looking at reduced 3539.50. But it is really small and I tried both and kinda realised that pro is not too big. So, most likely I'll go with pro.
I think both have their advantages. I do like the speedy reduced especially the price and I think the size is more versatile. I don't see the price of Omegas going up though (I could be wrong). The speedy is definitely on my list to buy but I need to do more research...and videos like this help. Thank you Oleg :)
I bought my Omega Speedmaster Professional in anticipation of being on the next NASA moon landing...bugger it I missed out!🤣 Oh well I’ll keep it in the hope that mankind gets too scared to go back there & I build my own rocket!🤪 I fully understand where you are coming from Oleg regarding the Reduced but my obsession was/is with the Professional so that’s where I “landed”!😂 Great review nonetheless mate!👍🏼
The omega design, technical features in their movements and value are the reason it is one of my favorite brands. Great brand very undervalue and this is good thing for me. I am able to buy the watches I like at competitive prices, thanks to the secondary market
I'm with you on all the points. Stylistically, they're pretty much the same. The differences are details. If/when I get one, it's going to be a reduced.
I fully agree, I recently purchased a 3539 2009 reduced with the same price of a new Professional and won't regret... The whole notion of "manual" winding is totally out of the question, it feels like these old dated toys that you have to wind to play with.. Not reliable in the sense that if you forget to wind them daily they will stop working (sorry Omega, but a cheap Casio would be more reliable here)... Thus I'll choose a Reduced a million times over a toy watch...
I came to a similar conclusion - I bought a new 40mm Speedmaster Racing over the Moonwatch. OK so the Moonwatch is iconic and only slightly more expensive when new, but personally 40mm is the perfect size, plus I wanted an automatic to wear every day. Like you, I might still buy a Professional/Moonwatch in the future tho.......
Any Speedmaster professional ever sold wouldn't last a day in space anyway. The lubricants they had to use to get them to function in those conditions prob cost many times more than the watches themselves
Good vid and very nice watch. Not sure you need to explain or justify why you choose the reduced over the prof. Same with everyone and every watch. Wear a mini sundial if you want. It's your wrist, your choice. Enjoy it ⌚
I don’t agree. After 10 years your service costs on the automatic will bring the total cost up to the Professional, while the resale value will not be on par

I don't agree at all. The auto is not a Moonwatch. It's like owning a Ford focus instead of a Mercedes. One is iconic and the other is a waste of money. If you have a nice collection get a Moonwatch.
