All About The Sohal Tang or Sohal Surgeonfish or Red Sea Clown Surgeonfish or Zebra Surgeonfish

Probably one of the most expensive tangs I've covered in the all about series, right behind the Jewel Tang. These are a very large species of tang and can be a very aggressive fish to have in your tank. It is best to house them with other fish that can hold their own.

hello greetings from Tijuana bc Mexico I have a tank of 800 liters 7 feet long a lot of rock quite a lot of caves and I like surgeons I have a lot of space to swim my question is which fish can I put first akilles or sohal I already have several in the shoulder tank chocolate orange, purple, yellow and others

You know, Professor Ellen Thaler-Kottek (* 29. Oktober 1933 in Innsbruck) writes in her „Koralle“ booklet about Surgeonfish, that the Acanthirus Sohal and the Acanthurus Lineatus should not be kept at alll captive, not even in public aquaria. I have been diving and snorkeling in Sharm el Sheyk, and could observe this fish in the Hotel‘s reef. My feeling is that, if kept in captivity, it really needs a huge amount of space; simillary to what you would need if you really wanted to swimm! Your aquarium should have at least the size of a decent swimmingpool! This Fish is about 50 cm big and is a native swimmer; just do the maths! Or if you want to put it in simple terms, as Professor Thaler presumably does: don‘t keep it in captivity! The least of us could afford to fitt it‘s needs!

Lol it’s called a pink tail triggerfish … they have a greenish tint to them and have a nice pink tail if feed the right diet… i believe there from Hawaii and that region
