    I test drove this yesterday. From dead stop to acceleration there's a lag, which can give one anxiety while dashing out into a busy instersection. Once you get going it was great . I have a 2018 Tiguan now and it has that same lag. I had an 08 acura TL prior to that. Coming from a V6, it took some time to get use to the VW lag. You always have to factor an additonal 2 second lag before the vehicle picks up. Other than that, the Taos has adequate features and space. However, dealers near me in North NJ are already selling the Taos over MSRP so heading Audi this time around 🤷🏾‍♀️

      Taos is made cheaply in Mexico so I don't recommend it.

      @@braetonwilson4296 Wondering, if it is manufactured based on same spec and design, and maintains same quality control process, why the location should matter in terms of quality?

    • @braetonwilson4296
      @braetonwilson4296 2 роки тому

      @@sabymondal But it doesn't maintain the same level of quality. The reason why it's built in Mexico is to reduce costs, which means cutting corners.

    • @sabymondal
      @sabymondal 2 роки тому +2

      @@braetonwilson4296 In general we translate "cheap" as "low quality". For example, in a particular location a costly house would have higher quality than a cheaper house of same size. But if we compare two identical *same quality* houses between California and Mexico, Mexico will be cheaper. Because In Mexico the labor/material/transport costs are cheaper.

      @@braetonwilson4296 Most of the cars for North America that VW makes are manufactured in Mexico (The Jetta/Golf/Beetle/Taos/Tiguan/etc). It's an extremely high tech facility that puts out the same quality as Wolfsburg. Corners aren't cut, they build there because NAFTA makes it cheaper to bring the cars into the country.

      We also have the Tiguan in North America. It's the slightly larger model over the sub-compact (by NA standards) Taos.

    Wow a family SUV like the Taos only has 158 horsepower? Even the Corolla has 169 horsepower! That Taos is going to feel sluggish when it's loaded up with people and cargo.

      @@kristivaughan3839 It's quick off the line due to the turbocharged engine but it will struggle to pass at highway speeds. Plus that tiny turbocharged engine won't last nearly as long if it's constantly under strain.

      @@braetonwilson4296 It is turbocharged that is all about torque. It has 184 lb-ft of torque which is similar to mid-size big engine equivalent of natural aspirated engine such as 2.5 Toyota Camry.
      It is quicker off the line and very torquey in highway. I felt more quicker in my 1.4 TSI Jetta than Sonata 2.5 and Rav 2.5 old.
      Don't judge by the number. It is actually peppier once it is warmed, and in daily driving, you need torque in city driving and passing powers for highway without rev-ing hard.
      VW small-displacement Turbocharged is normally peppier than most Japanese brands 2.5 natural aspirated engines.

      @@ahsanmalik1013 VW turbocharged engine is well known for being unreliable and will definitely not last 10 years without problems. I hate turbocharged engines because they're unreliable POS. Expert master mechanic God Scotty Kilmer said to avoid turbocharged engines.

      @@braetonwilson4296 My Jetta 1.4 TSI is currently at 95k kms and some who owned this engine managed to net at least 200k kms easily; and most reliable engines in Europe; wisely used all over the worlds.
      Even big diesel turbocharged engines that is often used for semi trucks get up to million miles easily. Turbocharged is actually reliable but most people avoid it due to expensive maintenance and too many parts. It is not simple as Toyota engines that are natural aspirated engine aka non-Turbo; very simple port injection and less parts.
      It is matter of maintenance. VW engines are generally reliable if maintained properly. Scotty Kimer has purchased Atlas VR6 albeit it is natural aspirated V6 and enjoy similar reliability as 2 litre GTI engine that is also available in Atlas and we own that too.
