I have Small Rig grip on Zf with Peak Slide attached one end to body and other to the Small Rig grip. One must tighten and check it . I caught the camera by strap just before it hit the ground, 3 times since Feb. 2024 when new. And I am short. Good presentation. Low grade amateur here, with too much gear for the purpose. Adapting various F mount lenses (still have DX and FX body) but also have 3 new Z zooms and one 3rd party fisheye for it
The joystick was replaced by a function where you can allow a certain portion of the touchscreen to act as a touch sensitive joystick. It’s quadrant based so when you put your eye up to the eyepiece, your nose won’t trigger it because the other areas of the screen are not interfering and your thumb can move around actively to move the focus point. It’s much more responsive than a joystick in practice. I use the upper right hand quadrant.
've been using Fuji for a long time and I'm very attracted by Nikon style. The only doubts are how the files will be processed and whether I'll be able to get used to Nikon color. I couldn't find any decent RAW files for testing. Many thanks for the RAW files, these are exactly the shots I needed for the processing test.
Thanks for the "review" Ely. I also have a GFX (50Sii) which files are absolutely fantastic but I enjoy very much the Nikon Zf and its files. As for lenses on the Zf, try the AF-S NIKKOR 58mm f/1.4G with an adapter. Amazing lens. Brand new it's much to expansive but you can get them second hand for a good price. I also use old Minolta Rokkor's lenses and they work just fine. Take care.
@@ThePhotographerGuy I also use it on my ZF with the FTZ adapter. Perfect dreaminess when you catch the right light. Autofocus is accurate and fast (much better than on my DSLRs).
Great, insightful review! I'd love to hear more about the sling bags or small backpacks you used to tote around this rather dense camera for your family outings--a PD 6L sling? I'm trying to plan how to make this heavy camera as enticing and frictionless as possible to pick up and take with me on casual walks. I too am tall with larger hands, so I don't mind a larger, heavier camera, as long as it has very satisfying tactile controls and great IQ. The Zf tick s all my boxes. Now I have to figure out what few lenses and bag(s) combo will make me want carry it often. Thanks for sharing all your impressions, complete with your processing and strap/ carry tips. New subscriber!
Thanks! I have the old version of this bag. Only because its a tiny bit smaller and only on eBay. But the way it sits on my body and makes me look more like a dad is great. amzn.to/3Szd1BM
Fuji xh2s and xh2 shooter, came from Sony and canon BUT they don’t inspire me to take them out so looking at the ZF, I did and am considering the xt5 but there are certain Fuji quirks that annoy me so can’t press the buy button and not impressed by the sensor in the xh2, xh2s sensor is fantastic and if that was used in xt5 then would put up with the quirks of Fuji.
Hey man, wow you remind me of the hardware guy of Apple keynotes! And my name is Johnny and I'm a freelance logo designer, currently I'm looking for more works, do you love to have a logo for your channel's branding to have a memorable graphic based monogram logo that match your cool mystery yet anonymous brand name to help your audience recognise and follow your channel easier? I would love to design a photography themed logo inspired by your direction for you! Let me know if you interested to make it happen! :-)
Thanks for sharing your work man!! Love your pictures.
Thanks!

Thanks Ely great discussion + love the photos they’re awesome. ZF is a chunker but the 40mm seems like a versatile lens.
It was a fun kit. I felt like a cooler photographer for a week. haha.

Came from Fujifilm and will not sell this camera. I am looking at getting a voigtlander for this camera as i love manual focus shooting with it.
Whenever I see Ely has uploaded something, I watch it.

Love my ZF .. long time Fuji shooter here and selling a lot of my Fuji gear to get more Nikon gear for my ZF 💯

that 58mm 1.4 is magical. Used it on an a7RII years ago with manual focus.
