Hi Kelly, hope you are feeling better with each passing day. WOW, let me just say, at first I'm like oh my that is not going to cover those tear marks, but when it was done, I was like oh my goodness, that looks like a brand new chair. Great product. So glad it worked for you, your chair looks fabulous.
Lisa Sylvia I know I wasn’t very hopeful after I applied the first coat but after 5 coats O MY WORD! I’m floored at how good it turned out and how well it’s held up!
@@KellyBarlowCreations I'm amazed myself. That's a shame though, that it peeled like that. For what you paid, it shouldn't have done that, but I am so happy you found something that repaired it :)
I agree with Lisa's comments. Firstly, I'm a very frequent and faithful Costco shopper, and would not have expected the leather to peel like your chair. However, I'm thrilled that your DIY worked. I was somewhat skeptical and didn't think it would work; however, I'm glad indeed and glad that you waited to share the video after the chair had at least 3 months use.
Amazing! This chair looks like it is covered with vinyl or Naugahyde. I was an upholsterer before getting my nursing degree and worked with both leather and vynal. The finished results is amazing. I didn’t think it would turn out so good. The chair is if good quality and should last longer than a less expensive one. You made me a believer! I would have recovered it thinking that was the only solution. Thanks for the info
Kelly , you are amazing and such a brilliant teacher. So easy to follow and so loquacious and articulate in how you deliver the advice and instructions. Wow. Take a bow . Anthony
This was not real leather, at least in the sense that most people would assume. It was "boonded leather." Basically particles of leather turned into a paint! How there hasn't been a class action suit against furniture companies, I don't know. 🤷♀️ I tried painting a similar "leather" footstool and gave up after the 3rd coat because I had to move it. 5 coats is what I'll aim for next time. Good job!
Wow! I’m amazed. I’d already sworn off buying bonded leather furniture ever again, due to a couch disaster, so this floored me with the result. Great job! Thank you for sharing.
I believe we bought the exact same chair and mine has done the same thing. I just bought a new chair and was about to trash the one like yours. Now I want to repair it and give it to my son or my husband to use. Thanks for posting this repair video!
OMG I have the EXACT same chair and ALL the leather has come off! Thanking for posting this - I’m totally going to fix my chair - I was getting ready to take it to Goodwill!
I appreciate your vid! I spent $300 on just replacing one leather pillow on my couch. I cannot keep spending that amount of money for a repair. Thank you so much!

Really phenominal results. I have a leather recliner with an arm damaged from my standard poodle's claws. I bought a slipcover that works really well but I'm going to give this a try. Thanks so much.
I’m finally bought the paint and I’m going to fix my daughter’s ottoman. You inspired me to give it a try. It’s water based so clean up of my brushes should be easy. Again thank you!

Hey there Kelly, Excellent video, subject, instructions, guidance and phenomenal result! So many will be gobsmacked on the finish and perfection you achieved 👌👍👏👏👏 I would like to let you and your subscribers know that the chair you purchased from Costco is bonded leather (having seen the damage/how it declined it's definitely covered in bonded leather. A quick Google search of leather grades (for furniture) will explain all the types/grades better than I can. Bonded leather is utilised for lower end/cost furniture pieces and utilised in the low to mid range too, but in the areas that aren't affected by daily wear and tear eg behind the sofa/to the side of the chair/side arm facades. The price you paid does not reflect in the piece you received; if it was sold as a bonded leather chair it would retail between $69-129 (price difference would reflect quality of other finishes, wood arms, type of castors, use of plastics - metal......) Bonded leather is the lowest of the grades and reflects on price. There have been many large furniture companies/suppliers who were supplied inferior grades passed off as higher grades. It was an unsavoury common practice, probably still is. A company as large as Costco prides itself on quality/customer service. They would be very intrigued and grateful if you were to query the leather specification and provide them with a link to your video; any relevant information they'll need to identify the item with be noted on the chair's label. Costco & their supplier would be very disappointed to discover if the manufacturer choose to use low grade leather in lieu of hide itself; Due to the purchase price it should be expected that it should be grade 2: corrected grain or grade 3: top grain; the top grade is, grade 4: Full Grain. Bonded leather is more glues & chemicals than actual leather but classified: grade 1,it could be plausible to expect bonded leather to the back of the chair.... Hope this info is of some use to you and/your subscribers?! Sending good vibes and kind intentions your way, xox 🌸🌺💮

Nancy Pulice thank you my friend! Big hugs back to you ❣️🧡
I have been looking for a video like this, for months. I have my dads chair and ottoman and it has sentimental value. It is in perfect condition..except for the tearing leather🤦🏼♀🙄. I just went to your amazon list so I can order the paints and sealer. Its the exact color of your chair. Thank you so much!!! Because the chair itself is only a few years old, and was expensive. I can't understand how everyone pays so much, and this leather just rips to pieces.
Awesome video the chair came out beautifully! Thank you for making this.
WOW, so good I found your video....I have the same problem with my chair and now I know how to fix it! Thanks to you :)
