As jobs get shittier and cars, houses, etc. get more expensive, alternative life-styles get more attractive. Congratulations for making the leap, it's just logical.
@@mm669I mean but that’s capitalism though can’t complain about it. It’s called profit maximization. Charge ppl more & spend less on materials therefore you make as much as possible.🤷♂️Socialism & communism has its flaws also but throughout history neither was practiced the right way leading to how ppl view them as counterproductive now.
One could consider that by not making money, it results you have just gained more resources, that didn't cost you anything and effectively is as if you made it by the not spending it.
I agree. Now 75, single and retired, my income is about 2/3 of my work world income. But I made sure to not have any outstanding bills, loans, etc before retiring. I haven't had a credit card for over 35 years, and don't miss them. I pay cash for everything, including my car, an Acura, and my truck, a Silverado. They're not the latest models, but they're in great shape, and I keep them maintained. Insurance is paid in full every 6 months, no cable or Internet, only my phone and electric bills. My needs are minimal, and my wants the same. Because of these habits, I'm able to put $2000+ away every month without strain. A minimalist lifestyle relieves a lot of stress, and gives me confidence that I will be able to adjust to any events that might turn our world upside down,
I walk all over the place too. I did the math on my “fun car” years ago… didn’t add up. I’m paying for all this maintenance and insurance for what? To feel a little dopamine when I shift gears and lay my foot into the pedal? Fuck that! All the extra shit is like throwing money into a hole and burning it.
I left the system when I was 37. I'm now 43 and for the last 6 years I've been doing whatever I want, whenever I want, and it's been the best 6 years of my life. I could care less what other people think I should be doing with my life. People who are trying to control me can get lost.
One of the best things I ever did for myself (in my earlier 20's) was to stop giving anything resembling a shit about what anyone thought of me or my family. Life's to short to stress about what anyone thinks or how they perceive you.
When my Dad went downhill fast, i sold the modest , old house i had for just a couple of years to care for him. I also had to retire on a poverty-level (really) pension. I moved into an ancient trailer in a park, kept my old beater car and do not regret this move. Everyone i know accused me of being insane and insulted me. Too bad for them. Dad had no money, so he could not afford 24- hour private care. All you haters out there, go bite yourselves. My family had the past 5 years to be with Dad, reconcile with Dad and he passed peacefully with uscall around him. That experience is worth more than all the gold in the world. Stay strong people!!
That’s awesome! Ur a dear heart for doing what u did for ur dad! The way families are today is a horrible way to be …so this is so nice to read…blessings to u for being like that…
43 year old here, been working part-time 20-30 hours a week for 2 1/2 years now. Childfree and debt free and tried going back to a full-time job Monday through Saturday (forced overtime) just to shut my folks up...that lasted just under 2 months. I just can't handle 40+ hrs anymore I'll keep living a minimalist lifestyle 🤷
Good for you! I live the contract life. My contract ends next week and I'll be taking the rest of May off then, find another contract job for a couple months 🤙🏾
So I did have something happen to me over the last year that isn’t worst case scenario but a really unfortunate fluke injury to happen if you’re living the nomadic/explorative lifestyle. I felt my toe pop while hiking in Montana and it’s a fracture that hasn’t been healing for a long time. Not the best luck with doctors at first until it finally got diagnosed correctly (time and money spent with little progress at first). So it makes driving very difficult as well as walking. It should take only 2 months to heal, but I relied on driving for my income and lifestyle. So it just hasn’t healed. I am now switching up my lifestyle for at least the next 3 months while I heal which means a new type of job and new type of living situation. It just takes a lot of mental energy to switch and to navigate different social environments especially with income. I would tell my younger self and will now make sure to have a savings even more than I did (had $4000+ but less and less work and medical expenses took more than half of that). And more importantly to take any little injury really seriously and heal it right away and do anything by you can to speak up for yourself and get second opinions when navigating medical system. It takes real money sometimes too to get healed. A better health insurance possibly helps but I have some and you see the same doctor regardless. Wanted to share in case it helps anyone and also I’ll take any advice one has for my situation. I’m getting a job that’s stationary mostly as I need that while my broken toe heals. It’s a decrease in income but that’s fine for 2-3 months and I may get 2 jobs to increase hours. The jobs being local in one place and stationary versus while I’m traveling and I can do any job is the main little challenge but I’ll have one in a week from now.
@@coryshea856 Thanks for sharing. I agree with having a savings! I too do work that depends on me driving and having a car. Even things like car repairs necessitates having a savings. But speaking of your broken toe, have you ever heard of comfrey? It's a plant and people use it and the roots for broken bones and injuries. It's said to be really good with speeding up injuries and it's natural.
I grew up with parents who were very fearful of everything and controlling. I got so tired of that life so I had to find another way to live. I would rather be poor than live the way they live and be "successful"
Over here too😊 “Same”! The typical success story is OVER RATED: based on tiring expectations. That’s not LIVING to me. That’s failing spiritually & mentally
We retired at 60 to get out of the rat race. I would recommend living simple with less money than living a stressful life with lots of money. Lots of times, the more you have the more you want.
I do not speak to any of my family members because they ALL shamed me for the lifestyle I live. I have 4 kids and husband and we live in the mountains. We grow all the food we can (still learning) we homeschool our children have farm animals etc. my husband does work but only goes in 3 days a week Because we are trying to build our homestead. Whatever we can do ourselves we do including healthcare.
Well, if you birthed 4 children, then you can count me as a shamer. Most of us already cannot live like you because there’s 8 billion of us and not enough land. Actually I don’t want to shame you. I just want you to be aware. The more people there are, the harder it is to live a happy sustainable life.
@@verdulo there is so much land, the world is not even close to overpopulated. you're just repeating what you've heard because it is a convenient excuse for you.
Good for you. In case you haven't heard of her, The Patriot Nurse is great. I took her classes in-person. Her older videos are packed with great medical information.
@@rumfordc Wrong. I’ve studied this issue for decades. There is so much more to overpopulation than running out of land. Many places are running out of fresh water, for example. If there is so much land, why don’t we set aside half of it as nature preserves to protect all the species that are going extinct?
"Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing." - Helen Keller
That settling down in the USA with 2.5 kids, a house, and a car, just ain’t for me. I think people are brainwashed to work until they are old, struggle to survive and raise a family, and have the 2 weeks a year vacation. I enjoy living outside of the US, away from the rat race. I don’t own much in the US, and don’t need much. I am happy, at peace, and free.
I finally see the light. It took losing everything. I mean EVERYTHING. My so-called husband ran off 2 years ago. The only thing i was told was, he wasn't happy, so he left. When the rent kept going up and my health started getting worse, i had to move out but gave everything away because i didn't have any help to move. If i couldn't pack it in my car, it didn't make the move. Im disabled, so anything too difficult to move was given away to those who needed it and could move it. This time alone has been amazing! Im seeing life in a whole new light now. I can't believe how deceived ive been. It's almost like a light bulb was turned on and i have a whole new perspective on life. It's like waking up to a new world. No more slave mentality for me.
I remember telling my best friend there has to be another way and eventually she ghosted me because my ideas were too far fetched for her. A world where not everyone works 8-6 five days a week doesn’t exist. Took me a long time to realize she wanted to do what I was doing but was too scared. She was too scared to transfer departments ffs. People used to tell me “you’re so brave” “I wish I could…” and any time I countered with you can! You just have to do it scared. They didn’t like that. Team risk-takers unite!
People who say stuff like "xyz doesn't exist in this world" are basically admitting to being trapped by their own conditioning to a system so horrid, any thought outside that fake box immediately gets cancelled, disregarded, and ignored. Collapse is gonna happen, and most of these types are going to be caught unaware when it does. Humanity has only lived like this for a VERY short time when you think about the entire span of human existence on earth. People have let false belief systems and arbitrary nonsense enslave them to the point of complacent exhaustion
Makes me think of my ex’s obsession with emotional strength, and how to him that meant denying emotions. “Don’t be scared!! Be strong!!” But my version of strength is feeling the feelings and continuing to persist. Aka- “feeling the fear and doing it anyway”. But no, people just weren’t supposed to be afraid at all ever, because that was weakness or something. Good on you for doing stuff scared!! That’s a great mantra
@@WaveLord14 fifteen years. You are spittin’ FACTS!!!! I realized I’m living my best life the other day when I was at the beach in the middle of the day on what most people would consider a “work day”. Brought a tear to my eye knowing that I am actually LIVING. Not just getting by.
After spending the first half of this year sleeping in wal mart parking lots, i bought a camper and parked it on my boss' land. Overnight, i went from being a homeless drifter to working retired. I live in a camper, which is small, but its a home that i own. Parked smack in the middle of 110 acres of beautiful peaceful countryside. I work 4 ten hr days a week, enjoy 3 day weekends every week, buy nothing but food, and am happier than i ever could have imagines. I just had to let go of the "grind" mindset.
Something I've noticed is when people work too many hours in a week, they feel like they need to compensate by overspending when they're not working. When you value your time and work less hours, you learn to live on as little as possible, which is an invaluable skill and habit to have
There are people out there that think the "regular 9-5 life" we have been living for decades is the only way and that EVERYONE should live that way. No discussion. There is nothing you can say to change their mind. I wish I would have bowed out of it way before I did but my eyes have been opened wide in the last 2 years since I retired. Waking up naturally is top of my list, I can't believe how much better I feel not being jolted awake before I'm ready. I don't have much money, can't afford to travel but I seriously most of the time don't care. I can eat when I want, get dressed when and if I want........ That "regular" life was a prison and most of the people I watch that live it are miserable.
I feel the same way about sleep. People don't believe I'm 60 - I'm sure it's down to waking up naturally. I don't travel much either, but I don't feel the need to. I don't need to take a vacation from my life - my life is like a holiday anyway.

There is a number of people that want you to be in debt. That's how they make money. I took the risk when I was 45, quit job, sold everything, and hit the road in an RV. That was 25 years ago. And as that say, "I started with nothing and still have most of it left". I'm homesteading on land and living in shipping containers now and all the above were the best decisions I ever made.
This is so true. I don't want to live in mainstream society. So I left and live in a dry cabin in Alaska and I have so much peace. Yet oddly enough I'm nearby all the stores and such that I need. Yet this sounded so crazy to others. I don't think anything is crazy if it's what you're meant to do. It's actually just right.
Do you not get lonely? I don't like 'society' or the normal 9-5 soulsucking etc, either, but I feel like my soul would get crushed by loneliness living like that
@@mewsiu I have a work from home job, but I might work in town. The difference is I have options now. it's more affordable living this way. I moved into the mountains next to the river where the peace in my soul matches my surroundings now. Noone living above me or below me or in a loud city cluttering my soul. Three years ago we sold the beautiful cars that had loans, sold the beautiful home with the beautiful pool that had a mortgage, paid off all our bills and bought old used cars, bought a very simple home in a simple neighborhood and set ourselves free. I’ve never felt so good. Decades of being in all that debt no matter how hard we worked?? It was madness and life is so much more enjoyable now.
Totally. But I'm not one who likes the odds of lottery. Besides the fact the government controls the lottery, we are all more likely to not only get cancer, but die from it than win 1.3 billion dollars.
Well, as they say… nothing in life is free… Everything is a balance. This is what the Hindus/buddhists call “karma”. You cannot escape the suffering of life.
The "normal" life was never an option for me, coming from extreme poverty. I worked harder than anyone I know but when I started to get ahead illness or injury smacked me down. I kept getting back up. I never had a credit rating, paying cash for everything. I owned half a dozen places but never had a bank mortgage. They didn't want me and I didn't want them. After losing my home and family in a fire I sold that land and bought four gorgeous secluded rolling wooded acres in Northwest Lower Michigan on land contract for two thousand down and two hundred a month for six and a half years. I was not asked a single question about income or credit. I had a 12x14 lofted shed built for 3500. I could have done rent to own for about one fifty a month. I finished the interior with castoff materials from Craigslist and Habitat stores to make an adorable tiny house. I buy jugs of water for drinking and catch rain for my veganic gardens. I have a camp toilet indoors and cook with a hotplate and toaster oven. Underground electrical was 1600. Overhead would have been less. A used wood stove and installation was about five hundred. Pre COVID I got a sauna and shower at a gym in town for five bucks a pop. I now pour water over myself to shower or sponge off. My favorite though? Showering in a thunderstorm. Nothing else feels like that! I do passive laundry, hanging out a few dresses and spraying them with organic soap. In a few days the wind, rain, and sun have done the job for me. It's illegal to live rustically even though it's greener but no one knows or cares. I live very well on my 900 a month soc sec. (It was 550 when I first retired at 62. I'm 70 now.) I drive a 15 yr old Prius. I have great phone and Internet reception. A couple small towns are ten and 20 minutes away. It's 25 to a city with big box stores and a cinema. The big grocery and home goods store there delivers. A 45 minute drive puts me in a bit larger progressive city that is culture rich. There are woods, farms, rivers and lakes at every turn. Among my neighbors are deer, eagles, coyotes and tame chipmunks who sit in my hand to eat treats and get petted. I breathe clean oxygen rich air. I am often moved to tears of gratitude for my beautiful life and home. Think outside the box. The box wasn't designed for your benefit. Stop paying 1500 a month to rent a one bedroom apartment in town. You needn't despair of owning a home of your own. Look for land on Craigslist. Many places allow campers if you are not prepared to build yet. Don't let society dictate how you spend the only earthly life you get. Gratitude is wealth.
What I have learned is agism does not apply if I don't have to deal with a boss. I will get by. I got sick of crappy jobs and being told I need to improve. Pay me right and I will improve. So I live jobless, enjoy walks and using my old IRA from the 1990's to live on. Taxes and penalties and all. I got to the age that agism has become my greatest teacher.
It’s honestly frightening watching how far people have aged ever since the pandemic, comparing to how they looked in 2016 or even 2018: all due to the newfound stress from being in such financial burden due to the increased cost of living. It’s depressing how worn down they‘ve become from living the ‘normal’ life.
The current state of the world scares me. I don’t feel safe. The constant rise of living costs. The wars and the political tension that is going on. Viruses, pandemics. I keep daydreaming about owning a cabin in the woods and just live there forever, but I cannot even afford buying that. Should we all move into the woods and start living off the land? It’s mainly a joke. But is it? Whats gonna be our future?

I just thought I would throw my story out here. I got married when I was 18 years old. Needless to say I was extremely naive and idealistic about life. I thought I was the wisest sage that ever existed. I began having as many kids as possible right from the get go. I remember thinking at the time that I would be able to use my children to start some kind of revolution and change the world for the better. I naively assumed that my children would turn out just like me, and have the same ideas as me. Well here I am 20 years later with some teenagers, living with some severe chronic health issues... and let me just let you guys know. Life don't work that way. You can't force other people to think like you. Not even your own kids. They will end up doing their own thing no matter what you do or say. You may be able to have some influence, but not nearly as much as you might think. And in our terrifying capitalist culture having kids without money will BREAK YOU financially. There will be no one there when you are suffering or desperate. America just does not care. Not even a little bit. Take a warning from me.
We influence who they become but we do not dictate, that's for sure! That said, if you raise kids who can take care of themselves and love others in this fallen world, you have indeed started a revolution and changed the world for better. God bless and stay in the game!
I work in healthcare and see that Healthcare is a big business( the system).. it is up to you to take care of yourself because no one will. We are sold on the fast food and fear culture and then you get a health issue, healthcare is another avenue to put you in a quick fix med which can affect you later on, or an end where you are stuck at home medically or mentally. Absolutely. I've been homeless 4 times, none of which was my fault. Crazy right Fortunately, I was raised learning the customs of old, plant medicine, wild edibles, camping every summer off the grid with my family. I had the skills needed and put them into practice. My dogs and I car camped and tent camped up and down the east coast mountains. Rarely had cell service. It was hard but amazing. I was post liver transplant for 3 of the 4 stints without a home. I'm now in a small, rural, no red light town on the Gulf. My husband and I are looking for land to start becoming self sufficient.

Hey man, thank you so much for making this. I don't think we quite have the same goals for our "abnormal" lives, but I'm a musician and artist. My parents never really supported my dreams and always told me about how I'd go broke and how I should pursue a more steady career. I just recently moved out and I'm currently living off of bartending. I'm pretty poor but I'm enjoying life more than ever. I'm taking those risks you're talking about and my confidence is going up, and I really REALLY appreciated hearing this message this morning. I'm not gonna let people scare me into a worse life anymore
Well said! Reminds me of Thoreau's words, paraphrased that the mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation..."normal" life is boring and a relentless march on a hedonic hamster wheel treadmill to misery. Live fully now! I learned the hard way, I tried to "play it too safe" for far too long.
As I get older, I've learned to trust my gut and listen to my inner voice. My definition of wealth has also evolved over time, to one that values being human with all it's wonders over things. I'm in the process of selling all my possessions so that I can move to Barcelona, open up shop and continue to live in accordance to my nature. Love your videos, it feels familiar.
My son graduated with honors from a top college last May. Over the summer he had an epiphany that he's been following this path that was laid out for him and he didn't choose. His university had a coop program where he got college credit for being a paid intern. I remember him telling me that 1st semester of working, "9-5 isn't natural dad." So he decided to take a left turn and chart his own path. We just finished building out a minivan for van life for him. He left this past Monday and is at a music festival right now. He's working a p/t remote computer programming job where he makes his own hours. So proud of him. I personally live in an intentional community. I coined a phrase at my father's wake 9 years ago to describe an experience I have had off and on to varying degrees over the years. We've all experienced it to some degree. When we're in that right place and following what we know is right for us, and everything just effortlessly falls into place. The phrase I coined to describe that was, "The synchronicitic flow of serendipity".
So glad to hear that your son is following is passions at such a young age. You obviously did a great job raising him. Good luck to the both of you on your future adventures!

The system is based on confusing you as a child and teachign you that you need an authority figure, teacher, cop, judge, politician, to tell you how to get through this thing called life. The world of man has never been more controlled, nor has it been more miserable. You can learn everything you need to know, but it will not be a convenient life. But it could be a great life.

When I talk to people who want to change their lives, but are scared to do so, I ask them: "Is your life right now so great, so fulfilling, that it isn't worth the risk?" The answer is always "no". So go on and take that risk. You won't make it out of this life alive, anyway.

I'll never trade this for anything else and i wish id started sooner.
Love this! Somehow our culture perpetuated the idea "if you aren't with us, you're against us." If you dare to be different, it is a judgement call on the conformists. I would like to see more people adopt the "Live and let live" mentality. Just be happy and go on with your bad self. Thanks for the fun video. Spot On.
You've hit the nail on the head. Well said. As someone who wasn't supposed to live past 30, I got into really living, exploring, wandering, and exhilarating activities. Looking back now at 64 and after listening to this video, I couldn't agree more. No I didn't end up with a million in the 401, I spent most of that already. Still functioning and enough to get by on. Found my tribe and this is what we do. This is what I do. Live.
A long time ago, pre-internet, I became very interested in minimal living, even though that term really wasn’t even a thing at that time. Eventually I lived in a van for 4 years, and it was glorious. Since “van life” had never been heard of then, I could park nearly anywhere without anyone suspecting there might be a person in there. What did I do when __________ happened? I adapted, came up with ideas to solve the problem, embraced the challenge. That was the fun of it! I was never more alive than during those years.
I knew a young family whose husband walked outside into there driveway to check the car after a hail storm. He slipped in a patch of black ice and never got up again. Live your life now and don’t postpone the life you really want.
Thank you, Tim! I'm a year into this lifestyle, and yeah, it can be scary and stressful. But I could never go back to my old life, trying to conform to a 9-5 in my hometown that no longer felt like home. I also don't have health insurance. But, there are a few low-cost clinics in my area. There are options for people like us, and we will make it. We just have to take care of ourselves. Exercise, rest, & healthy eating.
I am not comfortable in a comfort zone. My husband and I prefer to practice contentment. We like the challenge. Again and again we discover we get comfortable with that contentment and we start looking for other ways to challenge ourselves and simplify. We've been doing this for 15 years. Happier. Healthier. More fearless than ever. 🧡
You are spot on! The system is set up for work in order to consume more and have more debt so you have to work more. I jumped off of that wheel 8 years ago. Simplify, live life and be free!!!
I found paradise in the desert. Not because it was there but because the desert stripped away everything else but the awareness of my relationship with "All that Is". Yeah it's been a rough transition from all the conveniences of the big city but the peace and quit is real wealth. 💚
tim's channel gave me the push i needed to take the leap a year ago when i was 28 and can't see myself settling down again anytime in the near future. everything i own fits into a backpack and a tote bag, i have some small belongings (mostly old journals) in storage at my mother's, i have a good family/friend support system to return to in off-seasons who are always happy to see me and provide a place to sleep, and i can basically do whatever or go wherever i want for six to seven months of the year. thanks to this lifestyle i should be debt-free a year from now and my only real expenses will be food, youtube premium, and cell phone plan (plus plane tickets and airbnb rent, when i go overseas). hope everyone else is getting what they want out of life
Being able to do what I want every morning is my source of happiness. I hate having to turn myself into the modern day plantation called "the workplace".
Me too. Every morning is heavenly. Waking up refreshed, slowly sipping a hot drink, listening to jazz, working on hobby projects. In the evenings, exercising while looking up the stars, grateful that I get to live another day. A spec of dust admiring this amazing universe!
I am seriously considering the alternative lifestyle of living and enjoying life NOW. Actually, I believe I already started 'cause my friends think I"m living my life---going to different places , locally and internationally whenever I'm OFF❤❤❤❤
Ive done a shit load of research on near death experiences. That life flashing before you is actually called the life review. It's like a hologram experience and you get to see yourself in certain scenarios you lived , both positive and negative. If you hurt someone you feel their pain in that moment. If you did something positive you get to see the ripple effect of that good deed. It's like that. We're living an avatar. We aren't who we are on earth. We have a soul that comes to planets to experience things you can't in the other dimension to build Karma if you will. It doesn't really matter how may girls you screwed, or how much money you made., Its about how much love you gave.
Life reviews are a release of brain chemicals associated with memory that happens when the body is either near to, or at the moment of death. I have heard certain people refer to it as an "empathy dump"
I get that too. I worked at alot of resorts in my younger years (20's and 30's) and worked hard hot as hell, back breaking warehouse jobs just to pay bills and eat, then when I mention going back to work at a Resort for awhile to get a Better piece of mind and Peace, then people say "You can't travel at your age, your Over 50yrs old, Those places are for young kids". Alot of "what If's". Timothy IS Right. I agree! When IS it time to breathe better and enjoy things that don't require so much money and time to do it? We've been brainwashed by this society. I'm smiling more! I'm enjoying the land we used to sing about as children in school, I'm feeding my soul Goodness, no more toxicity of keeping up with the Joneses! What and where does it get us? Until you've stepped outside on a day off and looked out at vast Granduer of nature and Peacefulness, Until you've had a break from traffic and hustle & bustle You haven't really lived a life of more Freedom & Peace. Don't buy into the American Dream, it turns to a nightmare at some point. Live The life of simplicity, Peace & Gratitude and You'll find it's much less hectic, less of a headache, and much more rewarding in the long run. Thank You for your video Timothy! Finally someone else who shares a similar mindset on Life and Living it. Keep it flowin' Brother! 💪😎

thank you for your caring and respectful answer towards people who need to live a different life from yours. On a related topic, sometimes I think people who want to "be their own boss" do not realize that you go from having one boss to having many temporary bosses - they are called clients/customers - all of whom need to be pleased, have ignorant/unreasoable expectations, etc.
Everyone has a boss! Billionaire answers to shareholders. Politician answers to voters. Confucius said: "Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life”. That includes having no job, if that's your good life! Ultimately you are your own boss, I think Tim understands this at a deep level.
@@ros8986 Noted; I should've said "billionaire CEOs". Billionaires who are free of such obligations are greatly blessed. But there's no reason we shouldn't pursue freedom in our own ways with whatever resources we have!
Yes, people need to just mind their own business if they don’t agree with alternatives instead of being negative or purposely trying to put fear in folks who dare to live a more fulfilling life.
At 57, I hope I am heading out of what I call a lifelong crisis. I call it lifelong instead of midlife because it starts very young when they start boxing you into the expected slots and lanes. Most parents are neither knowledgeable enough or equipped to see, provide and guide kids to alternate routes for those of us who were labeled young as nonconformist and other not normal tags.
I want to piggie back off of Unc and say this... If you're living a simple/van life/stress free life, any "risk" that shows up you don't really get scared by or even deem it a risk because it bothers you so little and/or you can fix it really quickly. I've never worked a 9-5 job, I've been doing self employed video editing, and the biggest risk is if I lose ever client, I effectively make $0/mo and what if it takes me 4 months to find a new client? But I've been doing it for so long that I don't really have that fear anymore AND all the things I've accumulated: my car, access to drive for doordash to make money, high credit card limit, family, etc, etc. means that any thing I fear is just a minor stumble and nothing more than that.
@@SonicUmami I simply put myself out there. I used to try and make YT videos myself so that was my start to show people I can edit. I reached out to a guy I had watched since I was a kid - he turned me down, then a year later his main editor was sick, he needed me to fill in for one video, and then he realized I was 200x better than his current guy. The rest was history from there I got more leads and connections just off of him alone and I've never stopped editing since.
“any thing I fear is just a minor stumble” - IMO that’s the golden attitude! Life is just a series of steps, each step naturally leads to the next. No fear, no resistance, just act. Simple in thought, simple in action. (I’ve been reading Tao Te Ching)

What we call "minimalist" was called luxury 100 years ago. What people are afraid of isnt so much what you might suffer, but what they will suffer if your lifestyle becomes common. Home prices go down, luxury goods become scarce, socially driven expensive things vanish. And much more.
As someone who's worked in a trauma ICU for over twenty years - nothing is promised. Live how you want to live today.

As a minimalist I didn't make more money, but I have more money.
Interesting fact

I'm 70 now.)
I drive a 15 yr old Prius.
Wow! Respect
I got to the age that agism has become my greatest teacher.
awesome

Seasonal nomad lifestyle. A cheap winter property in the south and a cheap summer property in the north.
Keep the basics at each one and travel when the seasons change, just like every other creature on this planet.

It doesn't matter if you have everything paid off, have plenty of money etc. If you injure yourself enough, or have a catastrophic event like a heart attack or stroke, and can't take care of yourself, even if you have family, it's still game over anyway. You're not going back to your 'normal' life.

It’s the okie doke
Following the road less traveled takes curiosity, courage and faith that God is always with us, preparing, guiding and strengthening us along the way. God bless your courage, stay curious and faithful, and know that you are an inspiring child of God!

Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
28 If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?
29 And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.
30 For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.
31 But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.

I am so feeling this at 59. I just can't keep on like this. Life has such little meaning and I long to live MY LIFE. I dream to move to Europe. Health concerns is a great reason to live your chosen life.
I did the whole thing I was supposed to do in life and it all turned out to be a lie. I am finally living free in an old RV at 60 and loving it. Work a little here and there when I want and go where I want with no strings attached. Late in life but worth it still. Material things end up owning you. Minimalism is freeing like you can't believe.
People overthink life. Life is the most simple thing ever, just go live it, don't hurt others, fuxk off and do your own thing and leave others alone. Not hard, it's just a ride, enjoy it.
I've been homeless 4 times, none of which was my fault.
Crazy right
Fortunately, I was raised learning the customs of old, plant medicine, wild edibles, camping every summer off the grid with my family.
I work a well paying regular job. And if something happens, I'M F'ED!

Holy shit, just discovered this channel today. Hands down the most genuine and well-balanced speaker you could ask for. Absolutely awesome!
Welcome to the channel/community! I appreciate the positive feedback! 👍🏾
When I started living in authenticity 4 yrs ago, I began to see how much fear has been used, for generations, to keep us separated from ourselves.
Hey Tim, I must say, you are a smart guy. You are single, no child support, no alimony, no kids, and no debt. I'm assuming that you never serve time in year. I'm just like you except have working on paying off my credit cards. Great video. I appreciate you!
I'm 43 years old. I just finished grad school. Your videos inspire me. The conveyor belt lifestyle of the U.S. isn't for me. I'm formulating an exit plan as we speak.
Congrats! Best of luck.
Blaze your own path.....
You can do this too!
My husband and I live in WA state with 2 boys 16 and 20. We have all made the decision to leave the corpo world and buy land in Kentucky and homestead.
Preach Tim! I left the corporate world and downsized in 2015. I love it but it’s not for everyone. There’s no one size fits all. It’s what your are happy doing and what you can tolerate. I agree that things find a way of working out no matter your lifestyle. Keep on keeping on. Honoring all paths in life. 💙
When I talk to people who want to change their lives, but are scared to do so, I ask them: "Is your life right now so great, so fulfilling, that it isn't worth the risk?"
The answer is always "no". So go on and take that risk.
You won't make it out of this life alive, anyway.
7 or 8 years in an rv on the road so far. Have fixed axles, engine, transmission, brakes, had a car fire, nursed a cat through his end years, changed money making venues 4 times, and i have learned to kayak, seen national parks, swam under water falls, swam in oceans, lakes and rivers, made friends in multiple states, i have food cravings from soo many places.
Spot On.
Never been to your channel before, I was not expecting this to be about living instead of some political subject. This is actually fantastic
Thank you! I’m glad I could surprise you 😁
We've been conditioned to believe we're helpless so we'll buy buy buy. I, for one, am tired of carrying those people's wants around. Dig it, man! 👍
Carnivorediet is healthy eating! Cheers
Your points are 100% flawlessly logical. Love it. You're so right, regular life isn't working out for anyone either.
I like Tim because he perfectly verbalizes how I view life and what is happening in modern society.
You are spot on! The system is set up for work in order to consume more and have more debt so you have to work more. I jumped off of that wheel 8 years ago. Simplify, live life and be free!!!

tim's channel gave me the push i needed to take the leap a year ago when i was 28 and can't see myself settling down again anytime in the near future. everything i own fits into a backpack and a tote bag, i have some small belongings (mostly old journals) in storage at my mother's, i have a good family/friend support system to return to in off-seasons who are always happy to see me and provide a place to sleep, and i can basically do whatever or go wherever i want for six to seven months of the year. thanks to this lifestyle i should be debt-free a year from now and my only real expenses will be food, youtube premium, and cell phone plan (plus plane tickets and airbnb rent, when i go overseas). hope everyone else is getting what they want out of life
Being able to do what I want every morning is my source of happiness.
I worked at alot of resorts in my younger years
(20's and 30's) and worked hard hot as hell, back breaking warehouse jobs just to pay bills and eat, then when I mention going back to work at a Resort for awhile to get a Better piece of mind and Peace, then people say "You can't travel at your age, your Over 50yrs old, Those places are for young kids".
Alot of "what If's".
Timothy IS Right.
I agree!
When IS it time to breathe better and enjoy things that don't require so much money and time to do it?

thank you for your caring and respectful answer towards people who need to live a different life from yours.

@@ros8986 Noted; I should've said "billionaire CEOs". Billionaires who are free of such obligations are greatly blessed. But there's no reason we shouldn't pursue freedom in our own ways with whatever resources we have!

How did you get into self employed video editing ? If you don't mind my asking.

What we call "minimalist" was called luxury 100 years ago.
What people are afraid of isnt so much what you might suffer, but what they will suffer if your lifestyle becomes common. Home prices go down, luxury goods become scarce, socially driven expensive things vanish. And much more.
