    The maple water is great to drink by itself, and if you use it to make coffee it gives you twice the perk

    I feel so ignorant. When I was a little kid, I saw footage of someone putting a tap in a maple tree, and hanging a bucket from it to catch the sap. Saw the video, " Wow, they use hoses to harvest the sap, that is brilliant." In my own tiny mind the maple farmers were stuck in 1885. I need to pay more attention.

      Currently tapping 125 on 3/16 lines of ~10 taps, lots of getting snowmobiles stuck in our snow here and want to grow in the near future. Id love to see a video explaining how the whole vacuum system works with the extractor and everything

    Thank you for sharing, you never know when someone will we show you something you haven't seen. We just finished tapping about 30000 up in Ontario so I'll be chasing leaks for the next couple weeks. Nice to see your loadout very familiar.

    Its incredible how complex the operation is. The pump houses, the logistics of putting it all together is really something. Thanks for showing an industry that most of us would know little about if not for the the visual from your UA-cam channel. Hope the season treats you well.

    My son-in-laws family has a 4th generation sap farm in Edemston...The last few years they have built it up to a near 5000 tap operation...My mom loves to go out and visit during syrup season so will be taking her this weekend...My daughter says during this time of year she is a "sap widow" LOL

      @@MapleFarmer ya totally correct you are very lucky to have options. My brother has a small farm in NY (Corning). But the return on investment sucks in farming. My only enjoyment is teaching new engineers how todo development.

    Love the videos and seeing others do things different. What's the reasoning for tying the lateral into mainline in that loopdee loop instead of Just the horizontal 180 into main

      Two fold. #1.Provides ease of observation when leak hunting. #2.Avoids applying undo direct stress to mainline entrance fitting, be it a saddle, 6 way, or spinseal.

    Could you put your sap lines in a conduit so the squirrels can't get to them? In other worlds a tub within another larger tub. Your video is very interesting. Thank you. Bruce

      That'd get expensive FAST! Sugaring is already super expensive as is, which is why syrup costs what it does. But it's a lot of fun.

    You sure do put a lot of work into maintaining your lines. Do you tap only Sugar Maples or are there other trees you tap as well?

    How’s your season been going their year? It’s shaping up to be a short one for us on the north side of Lake Erie. Tapping was about a week later and no freezes forecasted after this week.

      right now we are only at a quarter of the crop compared to last year. And this year our sugar content is much higher so the season has not been good to us so far

    I use a pvc cutter for the smaller lines I think its quicker and safer

      I just got some knipex tonight that I'll be using in the future! I have had enough with accidentally cutting my fingers! lol

      @@MapleFarmer Would you mind posting the particular model, I've been meaning to look for a better pair of hose cutters for cutting smaller diameter rubber hose, semi truck plastic airline etc to replace the cheap crap ones I have that are all plastic other then the blade itself which is non replaceable ( typical Chinese junk you know LOL ) Show them in use if you can on a future video as well.

    I wonder if there's something you could coat the lines with that would dissuade the critters from chewing? Something organic like hot sauce :3

      that sounds like more work than fixing them as there is 175 miles of line and after a rain it would just wash away

    Why a utility knife instead of a side cutter when you're splicing in a connector. Cold hands and an open blade? .. yeah .. that looks like stitches looking for a place to happen ... love the the "clamp" though...ingenious
