- Our last day in CA we were lucky enough to have some left over swell & experience some all time conditions at La Jolla Shores, San Diego just before the New Year. The day of the decade has passed, the swell of the century is over, but we're still having a great time surfing in California. Thanks for all the stoke & support on my channel in 2023, I know we're two weeks behind, but FOR THE DREAM 2024!!! - Ben

Dude, bringing me back in time. I caught my first wave at the Shores in the 70's when I was 10 and surfed there all the way through high school. San Diego and the state of California was a paradise back then...

@@laurenjager297 yea this was New Years Eve Day. Same timeframe as the big swell. It's smaller currently but there are still fun waves out there. Yea I love the SD breaks, so many options around here

Hey Ben. I hope someone else has already commented. You connect the negative/black last, always, when jumping a vehicle. This creates less spark above the battery..ie no explosion. Love you bro
everyone should know this but they don't. it's nuts. I've personally seen one battery explode in a guys face because of this. Lucky he was wearing sunglasses

"Green Wall" firing - I saw Brad Gerlach in 1998 (El Nino Year) surf the biggest waves I had ever seen at the Shores. Such a fun, but crowded spot.

Summer 1981, fresh out of high school, I moved to San Diego from the SFV, on the way there I stopped at the Shores to surf, when I get back to my car everything I owned inside had been stolen 🤷♂️

La Jolla has a place in surf history for a multitude of reasons. If you want an insane wave with no crowds, take a drive to Pt Loma Lighthouse.
If you like what you see youll have to charter a boat to get out there from san diego bay, as its illegal to paddle off the land, national park rules.
