You already control the lives of millions of people and have the entire economic output of a country at your disposal. You've created a cult like culture around yourself men want to be you women want to be with you simply for existing at this point. The only thing left to conquer is death so they'll turn to anything to try and prevent it and if someone is that close to you they naturally begin to have an outside effect on you
And sure you have eggheads working on it too but they'll never promise you quick results

Gnosticism is the basis for much of socialist ideology. Marx was always raving about ascending from the material "fake" world and to the "real" spiritual one. And before him there was Hegel and others. Gnostic mysticism and dialectics are found in a ton of socialist writings, especially Marx and Adolf.
If you want a video on the subject I highly suggest TIKHistory on youtube. He has videos on this exact subject regarding the occult and mysticism behind Marxism and National Socialism.
2nd time posting this because youtube instantly deletes my comments with no no words like the Austrian painter. Regularly discussing history, firearms, and other bad icky topics quickly gets you a shadowban. Gotta love it.

@@slugma1054 Yeah, I also suspect so. The old man is literally the Rasputin to Putin's neo-Romanovism, a mumbling bumbling preacher, famous with some of the MAGA mouthbreathers but too obscurantist for the Russian youth who care more about voenkomat and how to benefit from the labour shortage these days, than from some cryptic and insane re-working of the already insane Heidegger, with a good bit of Haushofer and Schmitt thrown in.
But IIRC it wasn't just Mariupol and Olenivka. She was the Next Generation, basically like "Vladlen Tatarski" only moar kawaii. She had the same genocidal content like Solovyov and Simonyan, but in a more refined form and with better street cred at the same time. Maybe a bit like what Ksenia Sobchak was in the "peace years" between Grozny and Ossetia, around 2005. Or like Navalny before he turned opposition. The sort of person who can also influence younger and urban Russians who are usually too cynical and secular to care about this sort of politics, and not brutalized enough to binge milblogger content.
In Western terms, JD Vance or Sellner/Pettibone, as opposed to Bannon and Giuliani.
Can't say I endorse killing people in cold blood - but one very famous Ukrainian supposedly said something like "by killing them, I am saving lives" when people wondered how a farm girl could become the most epic sniper in the war against the fascist occupiers. That's not entirely true.
Fidel Castro and Che Guevara led an armed revolution ....and then Che got bored with being a bureaucrat and decided to go off to another country to get involved in another armed revolution.
I would assume that many revolutionaries start out as intellectuals who are upset at injustice and then decide to do something about it.
A lot of intellectuals went to fight in the Spanish Civil War.
Maybe a lot of them were naive but intellectuals too can be naive sometimes.

@@geofflepper3207 The issue with your correction is the word "led". Castro and Che didn't lead from the front. They commanded from the rear. They weren't soldiers who worked themselves up from the ranks, they were political agitators with foreign backing from the KGB. Also, Che didn't get bored of being a bureaucrat. He was sent away, purposely, by Castro because Che was becoming a problem (some of that had to due with all the summary executions he committed and, as such, was giving the "revolution" a bad name). Che tried to do the same in Bolivia but the CIA had him killed. I'm not a big fan of the CIA but I'll give them credit here.

Occultists like Rasputin and Dugin remind me a bit of indigenous Siberian and Mongolian Shamanism, which uses a cosmology in which the human world is in the middle of a World-Tree or axis mundi that branches up to celestial regions and roots down to infernal/chthonic regions. In these tribal groups, white shamans work with celestial deities associated with light and order, whereas black shamans work with chthonic deities associated with darkness and chaos. Historically, there was not the same post-Zoroastrian moralization of light and darkness. White shamans were responsible for helping the tribe through healing and divination, and black shamans were responsible for helping the tribe through offensive and defensive magic in wartime and involvement in politics and diplomacy in peacetime. I’m not sure what spirits Rasputin or Dugin have called upon for occult purposes other than Jesus and his ilk, but humans literally evolved using magic to aid their chances of survival.
Mythological religions influence people on a subconscious level in a way that dry intellectualism cannot, regardless of whether or not one believes in the literal existence of occult powers. Examples like Gandhi's role in Indian independence or MLK, Jr.'s preaching in the civil rights movement or Leo Tolstoy's anarchistic Christianity or liberation theology amongst the Zapatista movement show that such mythic systems of belief can play a role in motivating people towards anti-authoritarian or progressive politics just as much as they can in authoritarian regimes.

Ironically, Dugin is practically the opposite of Rasputin. Dugin is an intellectual; Rasputin was an illiterate peasant preacher. Dugin supports Putin’s war, but Rasputin warned Tsar Nicholas not to go to war. While direct links with Putin are exaggerated, Dugin’s thought does align with the former; Rasputin didn’t actually have Nicholas’ ear, and it was Queen Alexandra who paid attention to him. And, of course, Rasputin was assassinated (albeit very amateurishly and awkwardly), but Dugin survived his assassination (which was otherwise sophisticated and skillful).
But the analogy works for this video as advisor figures with influence over the leadership of Russia of their times. They’re foils; and contrasting them adds depth to the script.

Very good summary. Thanks for such a work. I'm glad you mentioned Vlad Vexler: his analysis on Dugin in particular and the Russian invasion in general are key and up to date. It's quite evident that Dugin's criticism to liberalism is not far from the shallow cherry-picking criticism to liberalism by the left and right of the political spectrum -curiously enough, Peronism uses quite similar arguments too. Furthermore, any interesting arguments in Dugin's theory are also quickly shadowed by the use of scapegoat and umbrella terms such as "neoliberalism", and by the hypocrisy of advocating for a system that's nothing short of a dictatorship with religious tones. Having said all this, I sincerely believe -and it seems clear to me that you would agree- that the attempt to his life and it's terrible result should not be seen as an act of karma or divine justice, as I've read not few people portrayed them back then. It would be great if Vexler and you could do a video together! Cheers!

18:31 Ok, so.. while everything might be "possible", one must rather look at what is "most likely". Much like the rather silly idea that Russia sabotaged it's own oil-pipeline Nordstream - instead of the most likely culprit, the US (Biden literally said so himself as a warning in front!) - this too, needs no over-analyzing. Who has the most to benefit or the most reason to kill him, six months after the war started (while not doing it in the ten years before)? And whom killed many, many others in Russia (bloggers and other influential figures as this vid acknowledges itself)? What was the common theme for them all? Well: they were all influencers being pro-Russian and promoting the war in Ukraine. Whom would want to take action on such figures? Well: Ukraine, of course.
It's that simple. Just like it's extremely likely the US targeted the undersea pipeline because they had the most incentive to do so, so is Ukraine extremely likely to have made this assassination-attempt on Dugin (and all the other public figures with influence whom are advocating for waging war on Ukraine). It's quite mindboggling how people in the West try to act as if it's incomprehensible and impossible to deduce whom is the most likely culprit here.
