- Well after reviving this pickup the first time, it's been rotting into the ground for a year with a box full of new brake and cooling parts sitting on my shelf. It's time to empty the shelf and try to make this pickup road worthy once again! Lets see if we can't get it so we can drive it 30 miles round trip to visit the previous owner. Since this truck is a local LEGUND! It is NOT FOR SALE! As always, thanks for watching!

I had a customer who’s name was Richard Head and his son was also a customer and his name was Richard Head Jr. I would smile every time I saw him😂
I worked with a Richard Burns
I worked with a Mike Tyson, Mike Jordan and a Pat Swayze.
@@MortskeRepair I worked with a Richard Head.... He would punch you if you called him Dick. He went by Rick.
I know a guy who has his last name on his work truck, “Rimmer”. I choose not to find out what his first name is
I had a client named Richard Dickey and every time the clients wife called to set up an appointment his wife's caller ID would say Anita Haley and I couldn't figure out why they didn't have the same last name and then it dawned on me her name would be "Anita Dickey"!
The towrolla does it 9 days out of the week, say when
Yeah! Puddin for president!
I think them fractions are tickling your brain meats, he said 3/4 ton not 1/4 ton LOLOLOL mini trucks rule forever though, if you can't get it in one trip just go back you'll still get her done

When
Every time I fight with a brake line I spend 20 minutes heating and gently massaging the fittings only to have it leak somewhere in the middle the first time I push the pedal. I gave up even trying.
Fighting the age and salty rust is a pain ! It’s almost cheaper to install new lines completely ! Just cut , measure , bend , flare install and done ✅
You're doing it all wrong Wes!!
@@MortskeRepair LoL! 😀😁
@Watch Wess Work
You may enjoy my wood splitter repower video.
ua-cam.com/video/Ugx9rQOdMD8/v-deo.html
@@davekimbler2308 what do you use to bend?
I do enjoy seeing what happens to the vehicles after the "will it run". After spending an hour with a cool old vehicle I get invested in the out come. I know a bunch get sold "as is" , but it is cool to see some go to the next step of being road worthy and useful again. This one is so close to useful.
Couldn't have said it better myself. I've been watching for a while now and I think this truck is my favorite so far!
I sure agree 👍
It's odd that so many of the automotive revival channels do a quick "yank & crank" and you never see the car again. Maybe the follow up videos don't do as well? I quit watching "Junkyard Digs" because he took this to such an extreme.
Those business cards reflect another time in history, back when business was done between 2 men with a handshake and exchanging their cards.
Sure do!
The commitment to the walk around filming at the end of the video, after the thing crapped out, before the walk home, and after it stopped chooching out steam from the radiator is definitely admirable. You put in the work my friend!
Much appreciated
I see it still has factory shocks on the front, that must bounce terrible. About the socket for those inner nuts, my Dad made one yrs ago out of a short piece of pipe and 4 short pieces of square stock welded on the outside to fit those slots perfectly. Pop made alot of his own tools for the job at hand! Miss him dearly!
Ronald thear is no better teacher and friend than DAD I lost mine a couple of years ago I miss him so much heart felt brother.
@@frankdodson3534 Thanks, Peace.............
I really appreciate these long format videos, not many do them these days.
Yeah I do too. Really helps the day move.
Me too, I enjoy them.
Much appreciated Brian!
Mondays with Mortske and Duff dog are always a GREAT time!!! Thanks for another awesome video!!! Appreciate the hard work it takes to make a almost 2 hour long video every week!
Thanks for watching Travis!
@@MortskeRepair YOU'RE WELCOME BUD!
I'm proud to say that I followed Mortske law this past weekend. I dropped a socket and a valve cover bolt spreader/washer thing. Both somehow bounced into the pan I drained the radiator into.
Bahaha, it happens!
You might wanna check those snap rings in the front hubs. The one you showed looks like an internal snap ring. An external snap ring would have the holes on the outside of the ring so the whole ring seats in the groove. That may be why it was stuck in the grease... I'm surprised Mr. Wes didn't comment on that one...
Pretty cool to see you go back and get some of your projects back on the road 👍
Looks great Mortske! Love the revisit! Always love Monday's with you and Duff!!! Vid quality is awesome!
Thanks again!
For cleaning parts, take a stainless steel salad bowl and fill with kerosene 1/3 of the way, use 3 kinds of brushes, nylon, brass and steel.
I just can’t tell you how proud I was of you that you actually cleaned on that truck! Great job!! But boo on walking home. But hey, you made it sound not too bad.
You made my Mortske Monday.
Thanks Jeanie!
Mr Mortske, thanks for videos, I have a suggestion. Given the fact that you are dealing with so many odd ball, unobtainable , pitted wheel cylinders, I suggest that you set up an electrolysis plating apparatus. Grab your 12vdc charger, use lowest amp setting, seal off one end of the cylinder with a stopper, ( an old cup may work), stand it vertical, add electrolyte , dip in a nickel rod, ground the cylinder and apply positive to the rod. Nickel is good for filling the pitted areas, once sufficient plating has accumulated, rinse and hone to perfection.
Not sure honing it would make it round however...
@@MortskeRepair would probably better on a lathe. Don't know how the platting would hold up to that...
Dean's Greasy Flips on Cold War Motors LOL!! I love that show LOL!!
Thanks for the much awaited Mortske Monday! Thanks to Chin for the great editing. 🐾🍺
Our pleasure!
Rex sounds spicy!!! Definitely need a vid of it with you and Duff just cruisin this summer!
I have a 1968 c10 short box I restored. My neighbour, an older gentleman, retired body man painted my truck. In the end he was diagnosed with COPD. He lasted about 5 years. Great guy. He’d ride over on his riding motor with his oxygen tank to shoot the breeze. I miss that guy also. Cheer
Good memories
The wife and I live In NC. Saturday night we drove to Cherokee to the casino and there was snow on the ground 27 degrees. I've never seen that in April.. weird!! Another great video again.
I didn't get to go to the casino but I agree I live in Kentucky on tn ky line and I've never seen it before either crazy
I see how ya are mort! Keepin all the good junk to yourself!!! :) A girl is still looking for a 60s Chevy, I’ll find a good one someday! Great video! Love these old trucks…durable, useful, and hold their value.
It is nice to see someone who sticks what made the show. I have also learned some new tricks and to follow it thru. I will keep watching you and Duff figure it out. Thank you .
Glad you enjoyed it Dennis!
Absolutely love that truck! It's supposed to ride like a lumber wagon 😂👍☮️
I just can't seem to get into 4wd stuff, no matter how hard I try, I see a 4wd hub start coming apart and my attention exits.
I do however, enjoy Mortske content, so you know I'm gonna watch. 🤣
Definitely would love to see the old pickup with its original blue rims that had on it when you got it
I grew up in the mountains. That is a beautiful place. I love to see these great old pieces of history brought back to life. This was a very enjoyable video. Has they all are. When China was paying high for scrap. I watched so many great old cars and trucks, meet their end and was unable to save them. Love your channel. If we ever get out of the mess this Country has become. I plan to help what I can. All my very best to you and yours.
Good thing that last battery was up to it otherwise that's a strikeout and a mandatory sandwich day.
Another great Monday morning with Mortske. Always enjoy your program, and look forward to seeing future videos. Take care my friend and be safe. 👍
Thanks much Terrence!
Thanks Mortske and Duff! Another action packed video full of suspense and intrigue lol! Duff thought you could use some fresh air also...since he had to ride in the bed of the truck! Take care guys. Looking forward to your project. Thanks!
The envelope please...
...and the Award goes to DUFF DOG!
(Duff cam was a brilliant idea.)
Thanks Mortske!
Mortske your really getting that old 66 dialed in. A little suspension work and that bed. You have another complete success. Keep it fun.
Thanks 👍
Not a bad day to walk home. I'm sure Duff loved it!
Sure did!
@@MortskeRepair I was worried about you when you got stuck in the snow drift a while back but a nice mild day, no worries!
That is one tough truck ready to pull stumps out of a field. I think I sent you a 4wd spanner nut in the care package. Thanks for the Monday cheer up!
Thanks! They showed up a day too late! I’ll be using them in the future tho! Thanks again!
@@MortskeRepair My pleasure, there is "special" grease that is supposed to go on the seal as well. I think I have a stash of that somewhere. It will come your way as well. You really have a great channel..watch out VGG!
What you said about replacing rubber hoses on a car that's been in the field, is absolutely correct. I've pulled more than a few out . I've been eyeing a old Jeep right now . I'm probably going to try and pick it up .
Hey Mortske and Duff. Good video. I knew you would get it going down the road. Sorry, you had to walk. At least it's not raining. Thanks for sharing.🍁👍👍
Man I caught this one early bud. Good to see this channel growing the way it is
A torch is THE must-have tool for the shop. I've used a oxy-propane setup for years. My current house has propane heat, so a line out to the garage for the torch and the grill
was a no brainer,
Nice!
Mortske show a pheasant video again when season would warm my heart to see duff on point
I'm really glad i found your channel . Thanks Puddin! 😊 I've been binge watching for 3 days now 😂😂
Much appreciated!
Been on a catch up watching your videos just keep them coming they are just great I have learned so much off you about the history and different models what they look like underneath them the running gear it's just interesting to me
My wife is sitting here going "please don't do Pudding type stuff when you pressure wash, please" LOL
I dropped puddin cause he cusses too much.
@@pokey999991 actually he really don't ..a few here and there but nothing extensive. not like he is dropping f bombs or anything like that..a few damns or shits maybe.as a wrench turner for over 30 years i can cuss and make a sailor blush but there is a time and a place so i normally keep it to myself unless i'm really mad
@@pokey999991 she meant she couldn't handle Mortskes sexiness if he went all Puddin on her 🤪
That's wholesome as all heck with your neighbor. Sounds like you got yourself adopted by an honorary grandma. Those older guys had some interesting naming conventions going on. My grandfather was Eldon Hayes but went by Dick Hayes and only my great grandma called him Eldon. Automotive related gramps was an architect/general contractor and one of the two historical claims to fame was gramps was the general contractor hired by Preston Tucker to convert the old Dodge aircraft plant over to the assembly line to build Tuckers ( his other claim to fame was being the GC on building Ray Kroc's first McDonald's in Desplaines Illinois) . Also clearing out dad's place after he passed found a bunch of gramp's gas station road maps from the late 40s and early 50s. A whole bunch of extinct gas station brands and strange as heck to look at maps without interstates on them.
That's awesome!
The only reason I like Mondays ! Love that truck !
Those valve covers are sweet!
Ewwwww
Hey Mortske!!! I like those vintage pickups from the 1960's, they were tough, dosen't matter the brand, I wouldn't mind having one with today's technology....how come everything you buy needs brakes???
Cuz they're made from rubber and they break down after sitting for decades.
Love those old business cards and any other old motor related stuff 👍😁 oh and that's 'DEAN'S GREASY FLIPS' from Coldwarmotors. Also a great site for the good old memorabilia scratch Duff's ears for me please 😎
Whoo-hoo! A Twi-night Double: nearly 2 HOURS of Mortske goodness. And we're almost 5 minutes in without a mention of ... oh, well - here's the Puddin' call. It's CWM - Cold War Motors. Great Saturday entertainment - and home of Dean's Greasy Flips 😎
Love that you put this one almost, in good shape. Maybe more of Brakes - Necessary or Accessory Equipment? And, Radiators - Steam baths of the Future?
Thanks for the fun video!
25:16 I disagree wholeheartedly. You explain things too well lol. Gives us DIYers too much confidence. I've thought to myself several times you should be a shop teacher. Great video as always!
Thanks much Tyler!
Pretty sure Duff could find mud in a sandstorm.
Mud, meh, Poo, yeah.
@@MortskeRepair 😂
The interesting bolt that you unscrewed from the diff carrier was a thrust bolt, if you took it all the way out it should of had a brass cup pressed on the end. It is there to control ring gear deflection, screw it back in until it makes contact with the back side of the ring gear then back off half a turn and tighten jam nut.
I came to the comments for your knowledge.
Good info!
Woah a released in 1080p! GUYS it's in 1080P! Can't wait to watch. Thanks for the content!
Watch out!!
The don't be a wank, fill your tank thing, made me realize I had a leak from the sending unit seal. Thanks for helping me identity it. My dad didn't want to fill it up all the way, but I persisted. Had wondered where the gas smell was coming from lol
Yeah those can be a real pain
Congrats on you hitting 100k, we all know you will pass that this next week. Duff is rocking the hood pops...he needs a raise. be well
The Blue wrench is my favorite tool! I bought mine already set up with propane instead of acetylene, which I hadent seen before but it works just fine. Definitely a must have for a shop
We call them a Blue Tongue Hacksaw.
Based on the Blue Tongued Lizard native here in Australia.
I love how you put on new wheel cylinders and leave the old worn out shoes on LOL! That's good un
I live for the test drives.
Great to see ol blue back on the road even though it did give you some problems.
Love Mortske Mondays!
Great farm truck!
Only goes short distance, bird dog occupied, and stuff flies in yer eye while ya drive! LMAO
Thanx again buddy!
I've been meaning to watch and subscribe for a month or five now, Ol Puddin sent me your way, and I'm glad I finally did it. Great video, buddy! These old 4WD's are right up my alley, I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Much appreciated!
Your videos always bring back memories. Uncle’s truck stop 1973 working on trucks like that. Dodging rats in the lube pit.
I love it when you use scientific terms like clippy springy dealy, I had to google it to see what it meant, rock on brother!
I is intelligent!
Call your local North Dakota Uber Driver (Tractor Guy)! He can give you a ride in his little trailer! Good job Mr. M! Thanks for coming in on Monday.
Mower man!
Love to watch this stuff. The more Duff the better. 😉 Saw a red '57 Ford in the background. First vehicle I ever owned as a kid in the 60s was a green '57 1/2 ton with the 272.
need to make a clip of that line "I'd rather have two torches than no torches".
"That's makes no sense.....of course I'd rather have 2 than none" lol that was great
Nice truck I had a 62 Chevy stepside short bed that I made into a four-wheel drive out of a K5 Blazer and I'll tell you what that was a sweet ride when I got done with it had a granny 4 speed with a three 350 motor in it and then I turned around and sold it for 10 grand after I got it done
Nice!
Yep. Definitely put that radiator hose on backwards. I have no idea what the correct orientation is, but you wouldn't feel right if nobody argued.
Always nice to see a will it run get some love in a later video. I’ve met Dean of “Deans greasy flips” a few times, he’s not to greasy. But greasy flips headquarters is definitely a greasy place! Lol
Very cool!
That's the first time I remember you walking home. Your batting/walking home average is pretty impressive given some of the vehicles you take for a rip.
I gotta say….that was a great video! I can see why this one is a keeper! Definitely worth putting the time into!
Sure is!
New viewer, taking me awhile to warm up but this one got me all warm and fuzzy. Love the truck stuff!
Awesome! Thank you!
Thanks Mortske, I know to change all the old rubber parts as my dad says that old rubbers always break!! If only you could ceramic coat a dog! Think of all the shampoo you would save! That's my idea of the day, no wonder i'm still broke!
I seriously look forward to Mortske, Duff, and a tad of Gretta to make my week. Great video brother.....
Thanks Jayson!
I love when the claw comes out. You should have a claw special. All claw, all the time.
First time I've seen you have to walk home ! Oh well the walk will do you good. Ton of work in that truck(and a lot to go). Great video,as always.
Carry some water. Beers for walk home . Nice sunset. You had fun , that’s a bonus! Take care brother !
Will do
Every old one is a new adventure! Nice video. It was a lot of fun watching.

Great job Mortske……

WOW!! Almost 100k subs, thats great!! Please do an update on this truck once you get the new radiator in and whatever other parts you order. I really like this truck and hope to see it on the road again. Thanks!!
Will do!
That Pott County Grand Prix race at the end almost made me fall outta my chair😂🤣😂🤣👏👌
Truck looks awesome. I can't wait to have our 63 build driving
Great job Morstkie. The walk home I could relate to and that was a great way to put it.Im doing the brakes on my 97 gm schlong box and I have to get one of them cameras because I'm a lot slower than you.Keep up the great work you two.

Hey Mortske: Another cool old P/U that's been revived... If you can rework the cooling system a little more, maybe you can take it,(And poopy Duff...) out on Power Tour and show it off to the commoners and the girls that they go out with!!!!!
Use to have a 63 long box 2wd, wish I wouldn't have gotten rid of it as they are hard to find now. Those were real trucks back then
Love how duff dog gave u that sly smile and nodded when you asked him about the battery !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bad ass rigg I love those old trucks I've owned a few but never a 4whl drive with a 4spd that's awesome 👌
😄 Duff jumps in and there's no seat! Ahhhh, poor Duff. Hopefully getting "ol blue" back to the shop wasn't too much trouble. Roadside assistance
My farther had the same truck back in the day we owned a welding business it had an old Lincoln 6cyl welding machine in the bed. he would drive it to the job site and a crane would set it on a barge and off to work he would go. Blue brought back some good old memories!
Very nice!
Love to see you get the trucks and cars from the year I was born
running again. Many cheers to you Mortske 🍻 -Al

As far as making a socket , just take a regular socket and grind away some end metal until it fits. I did that to a 1 1/4 and created a removal tool for a motorcycle application and can still use the socket if need be.
