Good for you releasing this , brother, we need good, truthful news. I spent time as a postulate monk just a few years ago in a Benedictine Monastery, and though I have been called elsewhere, it was a great and positive experience. If someone reading this believes they are being called to this way of life, go...go and see for yourself.

Frankly, to me, that monastery just looks like Heaven to me! There are so many attacks against good & holy priests & religious lately. I fear it will only get worse before it gets better. God bless & keep these holy men & women.

I was a devout God-fearing Christian in my 14 years as a Protestant but I have received Graces and breakthroughs through my Prayer life as a Catholic that I never saw in my life as a Protestant, especially through The Holy Rosary Prayers😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️
I also feel like I finally found *my* *family* since coming into The Catholic Church and I have no more desire to Church -hop seeking that "something" that was always missing as I searched through different denominations in my Protestant days. I do thank GOD for the gift of many years of Bible reading which is my best take away from my Protestant years, but like that other more famous Protestant Convert Scott Hahn I now understand why it says that "scripture is not a matter of an individual's private interpretation..." 2 Peter 1:20.

I went to visit the Carmelite monks when the monastery was being built. I am a consecrated lay woman. I noticed nothing negative. Only positive good people. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of learning more about Ora et labora. I experienced prayer, kindness and friendship when I visited. God bless you all. Hope all will work for God's grace and goodness.

Why did he claim that everyone showered together when the other postulants claim their are shower curtains to maintain privacy? Also, how do you know him personally? I work with the Carmelite monks and let go of Minnesota and the nuns they're cloistered so I work in the back occasionally these are the best people I've ever met on Earth and what they're doing for you me and the rest of the world is beyond comparison anyone throwing any stones at these people should really ask God for some help again the kindest, nicest, hard working people I've ever met

Same happens in protestant evangelical missions, bad things happen, but at other places the church is pure and dedicated to Christ. In our church there's a week of evangelism every easter and end of summer. And end of the year. 30+ youth (25-40 old) are coming and it feels like being with the 70 that were send out by Jesus Christ. Pure and dedicated. May Jesus prevent us all from all sin.

An exceptionally pious young man from my church moved to this monastery a few years ago to work on the building.
I opened this video bracing myself for an explosive negative and possibly sensational testimony of a disgruntled individual. But lo!! This is the most honest and uplifting testimony from a truth teller! Good on you mate for speaking in defence of a beautiful, holy and devoted community who because of their prayers and sacrifices, humanity would otherwise be lost. I think the concern was not about construction work, but rather that the balance was off. He claimed that 11 hours of work per day was unbalanced with only two hours of prayer, and not even enough time to pray the rosary. A contemplative order is supposed to, at least on a regular basis, spend long hours in prayer. Was his accusations of these sorts inaccurate?

It's wonderful that physical work is part of the experience. We must consistently use our gifts and talents, which God invested in us, to build communities, help others, and show God's goodness through our actions.
Thank you my brother. I have been feeling called to join the Third Order for a very long time. Years ago when I started to do so the local order I was looking to join would not allow me to join. They claimed that I was too dogmatic because I would not consent to sex outside of marriage. I have been recently considering trying to join again as the incident I ran into was 15 years ago or so. You have restored my belief that I held before the incident that I ran into. Thank you again.
I was a postulate at Carmelites of Santa Fe, NM. We worked appropriate to our age and health. No more than 15 sisters are allowed in the monastery by St Teresa of Avila so that each sister could be taken into account. We were in the trenches praying for priests and Church to be faithful to the teachings of Jesus. I believe that is the reason Pope Francis (please pray for him) is closing down cloistered life. I wish I could visit there wonderful monks in Wyoming.

I can't comment on the USA, but I can comment on the UK. I found this video a bit too long winded and in my mind unnecessary. The Novice is reading a written commentary and seems without feeling.
I WAS a Carmelite Novice in the UK, years 72/73. Prior to this I was brought up in the Carmelite environment from 1969/71. This was the happiest time of my life and I learnt so much about the Carmelite Life as well as life in general.
I was adopted at birth and had no idea who my real family were, my Irish roots were unknown, but one Friar knew, and he became my mentor .
I left the Friars to complete my life story and find my roots, and at no time was I in any way treated inappropriately.
I was encouraged to Learn the Life in the World and assured that the door was always open for my return, when ready. Not a day goes by without thinking of my Carmelite family, now an old man, nothing would give me greater happiness than to walk back through that door. I now feel that my return would be perhaps for the wrong reasons, Would I be going back for Carmel or for ME.
I have had a full life, and children too, one of my daughters was named ' Carmel '. My story is full, and travelled the world taking my Carmelite Spirituality with me, God Bless our Lady of Mount Carmel.
Remember, life is what you make it , the path is not always straight. I have made mistakes, but these are to be learnt from. The world is not a good place at the moment, and the prayers of the Friars protect us, 🙏 but we need protection from ourselves. I regret nothing, I have made mistakes, and learnt about my birth family and my Carmelite family. My biggest regret is not returning when I was younger. I am sad that I am now too old. God bless you all and may the love of Carmel travel by your side, as it has mine.
