It is sad that people do not study their Bibles for themselves but listen to what others say. We can always trust God's word. If we “study” the Bible, we will see that being born of the water and the Spirit (John 3:3-5) is defined in John 7:37-39 and it does not mean water baptism. John 7:37-39 37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. 38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. 39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) We are commanded to “rightly divide the word of truth (II Timothy 2:15).” However, hardly anyone does so. Thankfully, those that do “rightly divide the word of truth” are sealed by the Holy Spirit until the day of redemption when they believe the gospel of their salvation (Ephesians 1:13-14).
I am from Northern Ireland. I was raised Catholic, turned atheist(majority of my life), found belief in a creator, by looking at the universe and then became agnostic. After many years of looking at the madness of the world I found my Faith in Jesus. I was brought to the full knowledge of His saving Grace and Mercy. I joined a local Baptist church, lead by the Spirit after prayers that were answered. My church does not lean liberal and they would say they aren't protestant...we are bible believing, born again, God fearing Christians. God bless
If baptists are telling you they are not protestant, they are ignorant or lying. All baptists are protestants, not all protestants are baptists. It's possible they could also be deluded, so take your pick: are the baptists around you who claim not to be protestant lying, deluded or ignorant?
That makes you Protestant. All Christians believe they are Bible-believing, God-fearing, and born again. I swear, every Protestant church out there thinks it is the only one that cares about the Bible, as if everyone out there are a bunch of Bible-ignoring demons.

Baptists stemmed from the first sets of church’s (gathering of believers) in the book of Acts. Ever since then they’ve pretty much been persecuted by the jews, then the roman pagan catholic church, then the protestants, reformers, calvanists, and so on. Quite an amazing history as well that if it weren’t for the baptists, we in America wouldn’t have the 1st amendment. They essentially jump started everything.
I currently attend an independent Baptist church in the middle of nowhere, Iowa. The current building was built during the Civil War but is a wooden 'little white church' archetype. We also have no images of Christ, which is something I just recently noticed. Our services are VERY traditional. No gay marriage, no female pastors, women aren't even allowed to lead prayer over men. We split up into gender segregated prayer groups. All instruments are traditional. All songs sang are traditional hymns. Dress is very conservative and yes, it is the friendliest congregation I've ever been a part of. They have become family to my family and me. They have done so much for my family after Mom developed terminal and inoperable pancreatic cancer. Pastor Dice has been to see her multiple times and they have made it so easy for us to go through this. We all help each other. The service is effectively the same as it was 160 years ago. I didn't expect an 'independent' Baptist church to be so traditional but I have been pleasantly surprised.
@@michaelclark2458depends on the breed of IFB. He specifically said independent but not fundamental. Independent just means not affiliated with a specific denomination. John MacArthur is IFB, technically.
I can guarantee that your church services are not "traditional" in the way he is speaking. I grew up and was an ordained minister in the IFB. What you mean by "traditional" is that you sing hymns. But you also still have "specials" where sister Jane sings a solo. There is no liturgy.
It's so funny he talked about Baptists being welcoming. When I went to reformed theological seminary ( a Presbyterian seminary) the chancellor literally said the same thing, he visited a Baptist Church and literally got chased into the parking lot by someone wanting to say hi.

As a baptist, so much respect for making this. We're very relational, so rather than pushing away traditional values, we seek to understand them, and then often discover the value behind it, and consequently uphold it stronger than other denominations who purely do it because it's the thing to do. At least in my opinion lol.

I attend a Southern Baptist Church in Australia. The church is over 100 years old and so so beautiful. We sing traditional hymns accompanied by the organ, have a very very traditional liturgy, and conservative Biblical sermons. The people are so loving and welcoming and on my first month attending they were already recruiting me to serve in any way I could. In the first year I've been there, I've seen it grow in number so quickly amongst young people, and it's happened all without abandoning tradition and conservatism. God can use and IS using Baptist churches around the world!
Where is it? I'm Australian, in regional Victoria, but no good Baptist churches out here! Hence I'm worshipping in Presbyterian churches - but they're getting more and more liberal. 😢
Is it a multi location church? I went to my first Baptist church service not long ago (Riverlife) and it was an interesting experience as I'm from a Dutch Reformed background. Super welcoming however it felt very similar to Hillsong
@warmteacosy This church is located in central Brisbane. And yes, it's getting more and more difficult. At this point in Aus, we almost can not afford to be too picky about the denomination and have to prioritize finding someplace that isn't super progressive.
@HaydenHag No, it's not. It is technically part of the Southern Baptist Convention, although because it is so far away from the States, I don't know how connected it is to it. My church is very different from the Hillsong vibe, but I have visited several Baptist churches like that here.

Elitism is not anti-biblical. There is no mutual exclusivity in equality and elitism. Paul endorsed elitism in the most basic social structures while highlighting equality (Ephesians 6).
As a 1689 confessional Baptist, I would greatly like to see a return to traditional worship, beautiful churches, a love for Church history, and theology among Baptists. We weren’t always dispensational or zwinglian on the Lord’s supper. I hope and pray we can return to our rich heritage.
@@jonathanmacdonald9609 that is true. What I mean by that is our historic Baptist history/theology. Some of the modern Baptist beliefs such as dispensationalism are not historical and were not what baptists used to believe

Glad to see you don't hate us(meaning the whole denomination. I'm a Southern, more evangelical Baptist in theology) anymore. Although the ABC is the more liberal conference in Baptist world.
When you did your “best thing about each tradition” it probably shouldn’t be surprising that the denomination that puts the most emphasis on personal belief and Bible reading. That’s the denomination with the most Bible believing (conservative) people.

Let's try not to be mad or "told you so" about it, but attending a non-denom church with Baptist leanings has been good to me all my life. Whether it's in a nice building or a strip mall, it doubles down on personal faith and correcting ourselves with the Bible. And it's nice to not be involved in unhealthy denomination arguments. You should go to a Southern Baptist too now. My church is Southern Baptist related (well it's in Europe) and it's literally the experience you described, including music etc
It is a part of international baptist convention, but the pastor originally + some study materials at the Bible studies that are being taught are Southern Baptist… Ask me questions tho 😆
We attended a BIMI (Independent Baptist) affiliated church serving mostly Americans abroad when we lived in Europe. Because of limited options, we became a melting pot of folks from all sorts of denominations, but everyone was respectful of others without any real divisiveness. Our doctrine was definitely Baptist though. I'm just wondering if your church is anything similar. For us it was one of the best church experiences we've ever had.
1689 London Baptist Confession on the Lords Supper. "Worthy receivers, outwardly partaking of the visible elements in this ordinance, do then also inwardly by faith, really and indeed, yet not carnally and corporally, but spiritually receive, and feed upon Christ crucified, and all the benefits of his death; the body and blood of Christ being then not corporally or carnally, but spiritually present to the faith of believers in that ordinance, as the elements themselves are to their outward senses." It is basically the Westminster.
As a theological conservative Wesleyan starting to dabble in Methodism, you're right about prayer. My prayer life has increased tenfold since I started really going to good Methodist church. Our fight is mainly praying for Revival, Holiness and God's Kingdom to come. So you're absolutely right haha
As someone who just started attending to a Baptist Church (IBC from Santo Domingo, Domican Republic) I can say that there's never been a more welcoming place EVER. I went there to learn the word from the Bible and they are making a true effort to guide me and welcome my family into theirs. That church feels like a large family gathering every sunday and any reunion in weekdays. Amazing experience.
As a Reformed Baptist, I see This as a problem within Christianity as a whole. RZ is not different. We complain about liberalism and false doctrine and evangelicals, hold our own traditional main line denomination up above other denominations and then concede our mainline denominations also must be reconquered because the virus of liberalism. And then you’re shocked when you do enter a different church and are shocked it stands firm on the Bible and our creeds and confessions. No church since the very first churches has been perfect, churches are made of people and we are all imperfect and in need of Christs redemption. Some churches sing classic hymns some use contemporary for worship, some churches use Kjv, others ESV or NASB the list goes on and on. Instead of being locked into what you perceive to be the best church the best way to celebrate Christ on Sunday, we as Christians should always be open to finding and connecting eye to eye truly engaging with people like us who stand firm in our foundational doctrines the Gospel, the trinity and not religion. Even in this RZ goes on to compare the AB to SBC and use the stereotype of southerners as why American Baptists broke off.. Stop, Jesus isn’t Presbyterian, Lutheran, Roman catholic or American Baptist or southern .. Find a church. Despite what people say there are good churches out there actually a lot of them. Yes there are a lot of bad ones too. But God is stronger and finds a way to continue his work of salvation even through all our own divisions and muck. Find fellowship with like minded people not Pharisees and legalists, they are out there. Share the gospel, spread the gospel and help point the lost to our CHRIST and if incorrect to sound doctrine. You said it right, we can become elitist. Jesus rebuked those elitists! You look at the pretty building and judge from the outside what’s inside. What do you say to people who walk to their church or drive way out of their way to their church with dirt floors or in a commercial centers? Do we huff at them because they go to a church not made of stones in classic style or because of their use of percussion and stringed instruments or do we engage and and find true connection and fellowship and new family that our lord blessed us with?
I agree with you in many ways, I would just add to always use the scriptures to be discerning. It would be best if we actually focused these days on scripture so people had the tools they needed to identify the wolves as I fear many are lead astray because we are to busy with infighting over the things that don't matter and ignorimg the things that do.
Preach! It was so strange hearing someone prop up a whole bunch of pretty masonry and making civil war jokes… 😢 instead of actually talking about the Gospel, the universal body of Christ, and the command to not forsake the assembly of the saints. Give your babies as many baths as you want. The important part is actually teaching them the precepts of God. Don’t allow them to think they’re fine without faith and repentance because they got wet one time. Otherwise, they do just as poorly as all the “raised catholic” atheists I have met. That’s no attack. It hurts to think about it.
Hey! I appreciate your words my man! Grace and understanding in our engagements with different believers and nonbelievers is key while holding fast to sound doctrine. Amen & thank you brother! Blessings in Christ.

I'm mostly Baptist, I don't go to a Baptist church. I'm glad you did this, RZ, it takes a real Christian brother to do something like this. Thanks for the compliments!
As a Baptist, there is no need for you to apologize to us for anything. Your criticisms of us are 100% valid. Yes, there may be historic, traditional Baptist churches in Manhattan where you live, but I live in Riverside, California, which is ground zero for the Jesus people movement. The only beautiful church close to where I live is literally Father Josiah Trenham’s church (yes really), and I don’t really feel like becoming Eastern Orthodox any time soon. The Southern Baptist church that I’m a member of is in a building that looks like a shopping center, only does the Lord’s Supper four times a year, and has contemporary, unliturgical worship with rock music and a smoke machine. So, yes, you are right to say that Baptist churches are too untraditional and contemporary, at least in Southern California where evangelicals have been heavily influenced by Calvary Chapel. I don’t want to just leave for a more traditional church however because I’m fully plugged into this church community. Two of my best friends go to this church, I’m connected to the people in my congregation, I love my pastors, and I’m even employed by this church part-time. Instead, I’ve been trying to influence my church to become more traditional, but it hasn’t exactly been working out. When the SBC elected not to add the Nicene Creed to the Baptist Faith and Message, I tried to convince my pastor to add the Nicene Creed, Apostle’s Creed, and Athanasian Creed to our church’s “What We Believe” page, but he wasn’t into the idea, unfortunately. Anyway, I just wanted you to know that I don’t think there’s anything you need to apologize to us Baptists for, and I think that you’re right to criticize us for not being traditional enough. Your commentary on Baptists has actually been very fair and objective, so fair and objective in fact that your videos actually convinced me to become a Baptist and start going to church again. Sorry for the long comment, just felt the need to say this. God bless!

The reason why, before Mass, you aren't greeted by everyone when you enter a Catholic church is because it is not a time to socialize. It is a time to reflect and offer up everything to the Lord. This idea that one must socialize before Mass is understandable, but it is not what that time is meant for. I do like your videos, and I pray that you are successful in your mission.

Response from an SBC baptist: 'makes a vid apologizing to baptists' 'points out the largest baptist denom was founded over slavery in the first 2 mins' It's ok RZ, we forgive you. And you're right, we keep out the woke teachings AND we sing hymns and stick to traditions (under the leading of the Holy Spirit and the authority of scripture of course) as long as those traditions are good (the question is what traditions the individual church chooses to implement, which is why there is so much variety in the style of churches). The only true criticism I might have is that you blame the evangelical mindset for abandoning old institutions in favor of new ones. I would argue that through the power of God our evangelizing/church planting focus actually strengthens our base churches. Through this we can continue to better encourage and inspire the entire body of Christ to follow the calling Christ has for them, and ensure that the church can fully evangelize for new believers AND disciple both new and old believers. If you aren't convinced we can do both, I invite you to look at how many times we have successfully voted out lib leaders/agenda enough that they started their own woke spinoff from the SBC. We dont all agree on everything, but we agree on the fundamentals and dont compromise an inch on them. (In fact, have been holding to them much more strongly and successfully than mainlines overall, who are focusing on trying to uphold certain traditions, sometimes coming at the cost of being more 'relaxed' on certain fundamentals. Of course, the devil will take any foothold he can in any form he can if there is a way to harm the foundations of the church.) Glad you're being more open to more of the church. Thankful for the work you've been doing for the body of Christ. We'll be praying. Also "it's a generalization but it's pretty much true" - RZ (yes, this applies to literally everything you've heard about the bible belt)
Here in australia, at least in western australia & from my experience from visiting a few baptist churches, a lot of baptist churches are heavily influenced by the penticostals (which is a growing denomination), so quite a few of the baptist churches here have a mix of penticostal & liberal ideas. When I visited south africa and visited a baptist church there, it felt so much more formal, but more community based - which is what I prefer.
As someone who has grown up in both Mennonite and Baptist groups after leaving the UCC denomination as a result of family and doctrinal differences, I would invite you to visit a Mennonite Church to compare your experience with the Baptist Church. The doctrines of the two are very similar, except Mennonite is traditionally known for their stance of pacifism and "plain" living. Most old order Mennonite churches that can trace their roots to their founding traditions are fading, so most Mennonite churches no longer practice the plain (black and white) dress and lack of personal beauty items such as jewelry and certain hairstyles (women with buns and long beards for men). However, the basic idea of being removed from the world by being modest is still there. Mennonite churches are usually just plain brick churches that are very distinguishable from other denominations. I know you would also find the churches to be extremely welcoming, although the decor and maybe service structure will be very different. Most still use largely traditional music, lots of prayer, structured Scripture reading and sound preaching. I just want to encourage you to look deeper then what you see at a church. The whole idea of some of the traditional beliefs of the anabaptist faith is to bring us to a place of godly living that changes us from the inside, and not worry so much about the materialistic mindset of what you can see on the outside. Remember, even Jesus called the Jewish leaders of his day "whitewashed sepulchres (or tombs)". Everything they did looked good on the outside, but they were spiritually dead on the inside.

37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. 38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. 39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
We are commanded to “rightly divide the word of truth (II Timothy 2:15).” However, hardly anyone does so.
Thankfully, those that do “rightly divide the word of truth” are sealed by the Holy Spirit until the day of redemption when they believe the gospel of their salvation (Ephesians 1:13-14).

It is sad that people do not study their Bibles for themselves but listen to what others say. We can always trust God's word.
If we “study” the Bible, we will see that being born of the water and the Spirit (John 3:3-5) is defined in John 7:37-39 and it does not mean water baptism.
John 7:37-39
37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. 38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. 39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

When I saw the title that our cousin denomination (I'm Pentecostal) stopped getting dunked on I knew this was a must watch. Good work, God! Glad to be alive in such a good time!
We got RZ liking Baptists before GTA VI
You beat me to it XD
Yes!!! This Baptist in Nashville is so jazzed to see this video. I knew if you visited one that you'd see the goodness.
hey! i live about an hour 30 from nashville lol. near jackson
@@chrisvibz4753 nice, native?
@@JessieCeleste No ma’am, from kentucky! just moved here bout 3 years ago.
@@chrisvibz4753 nice! Welcome 😄
*Young'un new yorker misunderstands baptists*
I'm not baptist myself, but nothing that surprised you would have surprised anyone south of the mason dixon line. Glad you came around.
I belong to an American Baptist church and it’s beautiful. It’s an old building. Glad to keep the spirit going.
Glad to see you’re coming our way. I’ve been an American Baptist my entire life and my church is turning 175! Good luck with your journey
Next video: I was WRONG about Contemporary Christian Music
I started listening to you when I returned back to my baptist church, I questioned returning for a while but realized I was right where I needed to be. Glad to hear this from you
Props to you for recognizing your misconception and making a video about it, I lived to see this happen!! :D
As a Baptist I’m so glad that you respect us back, because we have always respected you
humility is a trait that is hard to obtain. it s a gift.
We accept your apology and repentance 😊
I’d like to see repentance from the civil war jokes.
As a Baptist (southern but they don’t differ a whole lot), glad to see you giving our denomination a shot :]
I'm descendant of almost entirely Unionists, but I've never read from one of them that the Civil War was "the South versus America." It was always "the Secesh versus the Union." Both were America. That's why it's "the Union," not "the Conquerors." It was called the "Great War Between the States" until relatively recently.
edit: 41 Union, 5 Secesh. I would list their names, only I don't want to dox myself.
I belong to a Canadian Baptist church and to hear you talking so highly of our denomination is just wonderful. I've been listening to your videos, and have learned a lot about other denominations through you so thank you for your content and your kind words. God bless you brother.
Thank you Zoomer, this means a lot to us Baptists.
And apology accepted!
Correct. At my church we have an open Bible Study before Mass, and you can go to the nearby recreation hall for socializing and refreshments after Mass. The Mass is something sacred and solemn. It is a time to give ourselves wholely to God.
Also, if the church he went was too big, I wouldn't doubt that a lot of people weren't even able to tell if he was a new guy going there or not
@@gokutricolor1914 they would, most baptist churches know the people that goes out and in because they make you introduce yourself if you don’t want to the pastor will come and great you.
The fact that Richard changed his mind on Baptists gives me hope that he will soon do the same thing for the Orthodox church.
I'm a Baptist with high amounts of respect for the Orthodox Church. I don't agree with everything, but I think you're still on the right path. God be with you brother.
As a Baptist and a subscriber of this channel, I never really thought you were "crapping" on us as you said you were, we have a fair share of disagreements but it can easily be reconciled.
Anyway, I've become a regular viewer of this channel and I thank you for all the informative videos, despite our differences there is no doubt that we are brothers in Christ after all.
This is how my baptist church is 💕 very cool you gave a good one a chance and enjoyed your experience!!!
This is cool! Speaking as a guy who was brought up and spent most of his life in traditional Christianity (both Catholic and Orthodox), and who finally found the peace of Christ in a Baptist church, I appreciate that you gave us a shot and liked what you found. God bless you!
Were you taught in cath/ortho that salvation is by grace, through faith, not of ourselves but as the free Gift of God?
@@Reformed_Borzoi The way I understood it was that Christ's death and resurrection were step 1 of salvation, but steps 2 through Infinity were on us. There was always another devotional, another structured prayer routine, another rosary, another scapular, whatever. You could never rest in Christ because you were perpetually on the cusp of being sentenced to eternal damnation for a minor slip up.
The Gospel is clear in the Baptist church. Glad you found your home.
@@Thatoneguy-pu8ty Thank you friend! A question for you since I saw one of your comments where you mentioned Spurgeon - where should I start with his writing?
@@La_Hoja_Verde No apostolic church believes you are sentence to eternal damnation for a minor slip up. We believe that mortal sins separate you from God. The Bible supports this idea as well. You don't have to do the rosary, wear scapulars, do devotionals, but all of those things bring you closer to God. So I believe your understanding of the Church was flawed.
The comment section did not disappoint 😂 Love you Zoomer 🤙🏻
Yay I'm a Baptist ! Thanks for being so cool brother lol. You have been pretty critical of us but I still loved your chanel and watched your videos your still a brother and you have great content for the most part 😉
As a Baptist I’m so glad to hear that we’ve had a positive impact on you. How was the sermon at that church?
Response from an SBC baptist:
'makes a vid apologizing to baptists'
'points out the largest baptist denom was founded over slavery in the first 2 mins'
It's ok RZ, we forgive you.
Of course, the devil will take any foothold he can in any form he can if there is a way to harm the foundations of the church.)
Glad you're being more open to more of the church. Thankful for the work you've been doing for the body of Christ. We'll be praying.
Also
"it's a generalization but it's pretty much true" - RZ (yes, this applies to literally everything you've heard about the bible belt)
I'm a Pentecostal, and I approve of this message! :)
Sorta Baptist here, thanks for having the integrity to correct yourself. Mad respect
RZ just got dunked, fully immersed 😂❤
I have never heard RZ be so enthusiastic. W.
