John first and foremost I want to thank you for taking the time to come and visit SPHC. I was one of those portraying the disciples. During Easter time our church presents an Easter Drama. Let me tell you it is very moving. Pastor Penny is an amazing man of God. I was raised Baptist but from the first time i set foot in this church, i knew I was right where I belonged. The love that these people have for not only the Lord but also for the community is truly unbelievably. I know you guys seen that first hand. Those "rusted" church vans lol, that you spoke of bring close to 200 kids to church every Wednesday night where we feed them both physically and spiritually. Again I do hope the next time, if you visit this little "Wrangler" town 😊😂; that you stop back in for another visit. Stay safe and God bless! Oh by the way we have a female children's pastor now. 😂😂
Very similar to my church. My dad also came from a Baptist Church and came to a AP church, that’s where he met my mom. And this year his mom, dad, and sister got the Holy Ghost and got baptised in JESUS' NAME and converted to be Apostolic Pentecostals also.😊🙌🏾 God bless you and keep doing those dramas❤
@@livywithane‼️‼️‼️‼️🔥♥️🩸 of Christ Jesus! Amen. The infilling of the Holy Ghost and baptism in the name of Jesus Christ makes all the difference with power!
It’s definitely something to be proud of! I’m raising my family as a Pentecostal, and my parents, too, grew up Baptist, and converted as they were filled with the Holy Ghost. I am grateful for my heritage as a second generation Apostolic Pentecostal!
I grew up Baptist but have been attending a Pentecostal church for the last year. I have never felt closer to the Holy Spirt and loved as much as I do in my church now. That says a lot because the church I grew up in my dad grew up in also, our family attended that church close to 60 years. Don’t get me wrong that church was wonderful but I feel something so much different where I am now!
Part of my family are pentecostal. I brought my husband to the first family event, as my dad starts praying for the meal, half of my family also start praying out loud. My husband was looking around, like where did you bring me.
I was born into a pentecostal family....don't get me wrong I believe in the Bible and believe in God. As far as the pentecostal church. I ran the first chance I got.
@earlsinks I was born into Catholism, incarcerated from a youth to adult.. for 15 years I was in and out of jail, I found a Pentecostal Church!! First chance I got I ran to it and found Jesus!! Best choice I made.😊
I grew up Pentecostal, whole family on both sides in four different states were Pentecostal Holiness, but when we pray for a meal, it's just the one person praying, not everyone at once. We only pray like that if we're praying for someone.
All the comments decrying John being disrespectful are hilarious. HE'S A COMEDIAN! If you're so easily offended by a COMEDIAN; you shouldn't be watching a COMEDIAN! Now that that's out of the way, this series is EPIC! Keep it up John!
I am very offended at their irreverence toward my God. That's why I turned off the video and choose to vote with my views by not watching anymore of their content. BTW, I tell jokes all day and love comedy. But disrespect toward God and funny don't go in the same sentence for me. Peace
He singled out people on reviews and made fun of their grammar, no one likes a grammar nazi. Making fun of people like that is never called for. Think he would do it to their faces?
Churches where I live (Alabama) turned me completely off from going to church anymore. I found them to be very hypocritical and not teaching Jesus love towards other human beings at all. They teach people to judge and mistreat others. I feel much closer to God on my own.
My kids and I move watching this series. I think many times Christians get so stuck in the mud that we forget laughter is a part of life. I feel like that is why so many people have left the typical type of church. Doing things the same way as you did 20 years ago does not keep people coming to church. Thank you for the laughter, and maybe it will bring some people back to church.

Missed John doing these kinds of videos. I was raised very religious and walked away, witnessed too much hypocrisy. Was also raised that other churches were not godly, these days I watch services (different church) online, but be nice to go back.
Go back. Expect hypocrites in church because church is a hospital. We are ALL a work in progress😊. Focus on Jesus, serve and help where and when you can.
God bless your heart, it seems many people were brought up in some kind of religious way. For me I am a tender hearted person, I care so much for my sister's. I wanted them to find Christ more. It lead me to finding out I infact need to grow in Christ and pray the labourer that is for their souls will be strengthened and help them come to Christ in a better way. We all must work out our salvation with fear and trembling; we have to figure out what our calling is. Not all come to Christ but if we try our best in what God wants us to do, surely many souls can be saved, helped etc. God bless 😊🙏 x
I mean they kind of did (they don’t only pray in tongues in private they do it all at once in public, worship isn’t about the sound as much as it’s about Holy Spirit and (sometimes) dancing like David did for the Lord) if you want to learn more about Penecostal churches, they can be pretty much explained if you read first and second Corinthians and Joel 2. If you want a history watch a documentary on the Azuza street revival and pentecostal Holiness Movement. That pastor had racial unity as the descendants of slaves not by preaching on racial unity, but by preaching on how Jesus was the different parts of the temple (see the book of John where Jesus did all the “I Am…” statement’s Jesus made and then read Hebrews) and now we are to be the temple of the Holy Spirit. I don’t think this series is meant to be educational, there are other options for that. Actually asking in the comment section is a great way to get your questions answered. 💕 and I go to mega church. 🤷🏽♀️ And if you actually read the Scriptures most of the arguments that people try to have completely cease to exist. The book of Acts talks about one type of tongues, but the book a first and second Corinthians talks about the tongues of angels and all sorts of other gifts that are to be eagerly desired including the gift of prophecy. Even though I do not go to the type of church that teaches about tongues myself and even Lutheran friends speak in different types of tongues from languages we’ve never learned to the type explained in more detail as you read scripture. I believe Jude is another place to read on this. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you. Different denominations I like the different parts of the body of Christ, once we actually make Jesus Christ our head we will better function. I praise God for different things that Lutherans, Catholics, Pentecostals, Baptist have all done to advance the kingdom. God is bringing us into a New place of revelatory understanding and functioning as the body of Christ. 🙌

As a non-religious person growing up in the religious state of Utah, where there's a church on almost every block, I love following your little adventures to church in the South. I've lived in Tennessee for four years and am amazed at the variety and number of churches here. Some friends invited us to Calvary Chapel Northside in Hixson a few months ago and we really liked it. We've been several times since and not just on Christmas and Easter! 😂😂
Interesting series that I have enjoyed! I always get a laugh from these videos but more importantly, I appreciate you two going to churches of different denominations and respectfully keeping an open mind. I grew up in a strict Baptist church that low key believed all other denominations were heathen. When I got my apartment my senior year of college, I started attending the United Methodist church right next to the apartment complex (sorry, John!). First I felt guilty for not going to the Baptist church a couple miles away (but the UM church was so easy to walk to!) and then I felt guilty for really enjoying the services. After college, I went back to my strict Baptist church and was happy when the senior pastor finally retired and the next pastor was more relaxed about different denominations.

That "free candy inside" license plate was hilarious. Bold humor, to be sure, but obviously the driver has a sense of humor (assuming, of course, that it is a joke).
My grandma was Pentecostal and my mama grew up going to a Pentecostal church, but my dad wanted us to go to a Baptist church. So I grew up going to a Baptist Church, but often going to the Pentecostal church with my grandma. I remember the first time I went, as a little kid, and everyone was crying, and yelling stuff, and I was like "why am I the only one not crying?" Lol. They were good people, at both churches.
Oh my word, you guys have me busting a gut laughing! I mean gosh comedians would…but this is a different level of humour being a Christian gal who was raised in the conservative church! I’ve been through years of the churches ‘changing’ and have attended many different ‘flavours’ of churches! This episode was hilarious…every aspect! Thank you! I’d almost pay to attend a church service with you two…but I’d probably go back to my kid giggles that had me pulled out of service and my ass spanked!
When I worked for the state of North Carolina, I had to go to the Stanly County DSS office and work there for 2 weeks to help the staff there with new software on their computers. They were the nicest people. I loved it there.
This is so epic. My new favorite series. U guys are so naturally hilarious. I think u could have this as ur full time gig going around to cities and doing church reviews. It’d be amazing. Come to Idaho next? Also, that’s an epically high amount of churches u guys drove by it what seems like a tiny town. More churches than people? Why do the smallest towns have the most churches?

If you're in Colorado, may go The Sanctuary Denver with Pastor Peter Hiett. It's different, but he has a sense of humor as he and his father battled church politics at previous church establishments. I think you guys visiting that one would be entertaining and possibly informative too.
I LOVE this series!!! I am dying at the different things you point out that we miss when it comes to visitors. Yet, you are gracious and loving in your delivery. I am also encouraged to see so many “good” churches out there. So so good!! (Now I am wondering how many grammatical errors I have in this post) 😅 - mom of JudahXD
As a Reform Jew, I find your videos fascinating as I don’t understand the differences between all the different Protestant denominations. Do you also visit various Catholic churches? Synagogues or mosques?
Should come to Calvery Tabernacle in Sunbury Pa.! Pentecostal church and they know how to get down with the Lord! Pastor is for sure anointed! Great people and much love to all newcomers!
Hey John. Rob Mullinax here from SPHC. I know you visited last year after we had our Easter Drama and got to experience us dressed as disciples serving communion. I was the 3rd on from the left seated on the stage (Andrew). I wanted to ask you to come back out March 3/23, 3/24, 3/30, 3/31, 4/6 or 4/7 and get to see our Easter Drama "ALIVE". I truly believe you would be blessed by it.GOD bless and hope to see you there. ❤✝️
This is a copy of the program that is put on by my church, Free Chapel, Gainesville, GA, but there are a LOT of churches doing this for easter. Grew up holiness and they all pray out loud, and I mean loud, so this may be more normal than you think. :)
If you're still doing this and you're going to be near Bradenton, FL, you should DEFINITELY check out 2 churches; Exalt Church and The Happy Gospel Center. Two of the most liveliest church services you're ever gonna attend.

That "free candy inside" license plate was hilarious. Bold humor, to be sure, but obviously the driver has a sense of humor (assuming, of course, that it is a joke).
🤔That was the tamest Pentecostal church I’ve ever seen. 😁
Right? 😂
@@WhaSup70x7 not every pentecostal service has folks swinging from the chandeliers or running the backs of the pews. Some are "tamer" than others.
I love this channel, because I can relate so much. Synagogues are the same way, just a little less welcoming.😂😂
Y’all are freakin hilarious 😆 This is how we should talk about “politically incorrect” things. We can love God and still make jokes.
You guys are so silly😂😂😂! The show is amazing! I hope you visit the African Pentecostal churches like Winners Chapel International. Um sure you'd love it, and prepare yourselves for dancing!
I’ve been loving these videos. It’s fun to see different churches when you’ve been in church your whole life.
I didn't know this was a series or that these two knew each other! Found my new binge watch!
I love, love, love these videos. Thank you John & Shama! Ya'll make me laugh so much and it is a great way to start out the day. God bless you both! 🤠❤🙏
We live in the Nashville area too! And, you are right about our area. It doesn’t take long to get to the “wrangler” part 😂. We would love to have both of you come to our Pentecostal church! 7512 Charlotte Pike, Nashville, TN. 🎉
I was watching this and suddenly it hit me…John is wearing a “Members Only” jacket what a blast from the past 😮
Came looking to see if anyone else noticed.
Thank you!
Nice throwback. LOL!
I absolutely love these. I can't wait until the next one. Christian Lunchables. Haha
I love this series of videos you're doing - so interesting!! Tastefully done!
Being this early to your "church visit videos" should be a crime
I grew up Pentecostal,it's so funny to watch you guys trying to understand the comunial prayers..Yiu should visit Africa..Shama would know lol 😂😂
As a Dutch European Pentecostal I can tell u we really have DIFFERENT definitions of pentacostal😂 this is wauw I have no words
Thanks for taking us to church! Enjoyed from Texas!
You two are a team made in Heaven !!! If you can't laugh at things, how can you possibly make it in this crazy world we live in ? Thank you for making my Monday morning a whole lot better !! Love you both !
P.S. I'm from Granite Falls NC. Look it up lol small town USA for sure !!! Going to go count churches lol
If you're in Colorado, may go The Sanctuary Denver with Pastor Peter Hiett. It's different, but he has a sense of humor as he and his father battled church politics at previous church establishments.
I think you guys visiting that one would be entertaining and possibly informative too.
Please don’t stop making this series! I love it
😂😂 Please do more of these! 💯❤️👍
Also, buy the purple suit! 🤣
The library joke with the reviews was classic. You had me cry laughing.
a general store, a water tower, a train track, and a parts store.... that describes 90% of the towns in NC and I love Carolina for that!!
I enjoy these videos of you and Shama visiting churches.
I love this with you and Shama
I love these videos! I love doing the same thing when I'm in another area
You guys HAVE to do an Armenian church - became the first Christian nation in 301 AD, crazy architecture, really unique church experience.
I'm Pentecostal, and I love it 😀
“Christian lunchables” hahahaahahahah. I will never think of communion the same.
Y'all are driving through this town like "these buildings look weird" and I'm like "Hey, that looks like home." 😂
Should come to Calvery Tabernacle in Sunbury Pa.! Pentecostal church and they know how to get down with the Lord! Pastor is for sure anointed! Great people and much love to all newcomers!
Every episode....entertaining and I legitimately learn something. Laughing so hard and then wait whaaaaatttttt did they just do? Love it!
Next time in Portland, Oregon go to Newsong in NE Portland. Seriously hope the original Pastor preaches and plays keyboard and sings.
Thank you for the content. It's your perspective with experiencing attending different church denominations. Love the jokes too!
Library’s are awesome!!
Love you, John, raised United Pentecostal.
Yo😂
That Joel Osteen joke had me!! 😂 😆
New favorite series. I will be watching every single one of these
I love this! this is hilarious. I live here in Stanley. John and Shama are exactly right. I love my town though. Keep it up guys!
Love this - especially the Joel Osteen comment- spot on 😀
The comments/reviews that you read, John, are the funniest things about the video.
The comments are amazing 😂
You 2 together are everything!!! Great series!!! Keep em coming!
This is a copy of the program that is put on by my church, Free Chapel, Gainesville, GA, but there are a LOT of churches doing this for easter. Grew up holiness and they all pray out loud, and I mean loud, so this may be more normal than you think. :)
Shama Mrema is funny! I've always loved John christ! Thanks for introducing us to Shama Mrema too 😂
If you're still doing this and you're going to be near Bradenton, FL, you should DEFINITELY check out 2 churches; Exalt Church and The Happy Gospel Center. Two of the most liveliest church services you're ever gonna attend.
